Here I go again, another ebay buy, another fraud, this time with an ebay user by the nick of neisha03 : won the bid for a Mogul, paid the seller $295 via PayPal a week ago, no answer to my messages since I paid the phone whereas that mofo would before I paid.

Not sure how familiar you guys are with Paypal but in my experience they are useless and never refund the money, so I guess I'll have to dispute the charges with my CC company and Paypal can go to hell.

I completely understand how you feel. I wrote about the many fraudulent sellers on eBay trying to sell the high end refurbished/reconditioned cell phones/PDAs on eBay and listing them as being "new" phones.

Here's my advice taken from my post taken from another thread for you, "...I recommend that you pay for the used phone [or anything on eBay or any online purchase for that matter] with an American Express card (AE card via PayPal for eBay purchases). American Express is the best at reversing charges in disputes and they'll have no hesitation in making a charge back to PayPal if you have a problem with the phone. Then PayPal would have to deal with the seller instead of you in a worse case scenario where you're unable to resolve the problem with the seller yourself."

Getting refunded in paypal is all about who simply but up the best argument persuading that they are correct. I sold a PSP on eBay and the guy wouldn't said he never got it because I never gave him a DC number because I lost it. There was a big dispute on paypal and they favored my side because I provide the clearest evidence and put up the best argument. So be prepared to have a discussion with paypal if you are wanting a refund..

There seems to be no items on sale by that user. So I'm thinking he might have not had much feedback and/or was fairly new. I don't buy from sellers who don't have a huge number of really good feedback. If they have the appropriate ratings, then they have a lot invested in their eBay account and are much less likely to scam you.

agreed.
shouldn't buy from someone with no or little feedback, doesn't make sense.

I've been scammed on eBay 3 times now. Last 2 times, Paypal never even asked me any kind of question and basically took over 30 days to say in substance : "sorry, we couldn't get any information from the seller so you're out of luck".

The 1st time, after their investigation, my bank (Bank of America) refunded me the money. The 2nd time, Citibank just jerked me around for over 90 days, going back and forth, pretending I had never sent them the documents they asked for when I had sent them by mail twice, then fax, then certified with proof of receipt. Citibank even wrote me a letter the last time to tell me they had received my documents but then after not hearing from them for 2 weeks, I called them and whoever I had on the phone had the balls to tell me that Citibank never sent me that letter. I even read their letter word for word to the phone agent and she basically was telling me it must not have been for that case but for another, even though I had no other case ongoing with them or any other bank! I never saw my money back after this ordeal.

I just hope this time Washington Mutual doesn't screw me over like Citibank did.

Agreed! Should be a rule of thumb! Atleast it is for me.

Sure you can reverse the charges and get your money back. Paypal would freeze your account. You can receive money but you cant withdraw. This happened to me before. I was scammed. eBay didnt wanna do anything. Paypal didnt wanna refund my money. So I called my bank and had the charge reversed. I got my money back but then I got an email from paypal saying that they freezed my account. I was selling at the time and had money coming into my paypal account from buyers. Because Paypal freezed my account, I cant withdraw from my account. It was a big ole mess.

An easy solution would be to withdraw all of your funds from your current PayPal account while setting up another (new) PayPal account immediately before you call your bank or credit card company in order to reverse the charges. You just advise your eBay buyers to pay through your new PayPal account. All you need is another bank account...just go to another bank that offers a free checking account (many out there) in order to be able to get the new PayPal account verified. It's that simple to tell PayPal to go fu@k themselves if they try to freeze the older account cause there will be a $0 balance. LOL. :hee:

What about using Paypal's credit card? I believe they offer a 100% refund if you get screwed using their CC. They do limit the # of refunds per year but it sounds good.

I've used Paypal's CC for Paypal payments exclusively.
Knock on wood but I havent had a need to use the refund benefit yet.:fingers:

That's an interesting option. I didn't know of that feature with the PayPal credit card. I wonder how difficult the process is to get their 100% refund.

Scoobmd, you should test that feature out and tell us about your experience. Maybe try it out by buying an expensive eBay item that "seems too good to be true" from an eBay seller who's got lots of recent complaints (e.g., rating of 65% or lower) and see how easy it is for them to credit you the money with a charge back to PayPal. LOL.

Hmmm... :(. I'm selling 2 BNIB phones on eBay right now. I have very little feedback, and it upsets me that I might not be able to sell them for what they are worth because of that. Haha, if anyone is in the market for a Pink Muziq or an ic902, I'm a good person! Look me up!

I agree with checking out feedback/seller's ratings. IMO that's just like choosing which store to physically walk into and shop. I'd rather walk into a brick building with a reputable name than buy from the white van stopping on the street corner every Tuesday and Thursday morning...

Never had a problem with paypal, or with ebay. As others have said, read the feedback and ask questions if you have doubts.

I'm not selling anything so that is not the issue. The only road block could be my bank. Paypal can go to hell, I know they take 30 days on purpose because it makes it harder for you to contest charges with your bank after 30 days.
