Hmm, I didnt know where to put a craigslist thread so I'll put it in here. Well, I'm looking for a Sprint Blackberry Pearl, and this guy was offering one for $150. He says that he never sell phones with a bad ESN, and I'm definitely tempted to take this. Do you guys think this is legit? I've been emailing him and he says that to prove the clear ESN, he could go to a sprint store and he could get me a rep in the store and say to me that it is clear. So what do you guys think?

I'm not a big fan of CL... Why don't you just post a thread in the Trading Post? you might be able to find one here...

I'd say don't do it... The savings is not worth it. Are you elegiable for discounts for signing a new contract? I'm afraid your going to get burned:td:

if the buyer isnt willing to give the ESN up front chances are its a scam.

That would be pretty tempting for me too but I would figure out a way to find out if the phone works. I'm not sure how though because you guys live in different cities but I'd ask him to take a picture of the Pearl and the phone showing the ESN as well.

But also try and if he will send you the ESN that way you can find out if it's legit.

Rule of thumb, if your going to use craigslist, buy local period! no matter how good it sounds, watch it daily and stuff is always popping up from locals trying to get rid of stuff. ive bought several good deals off the site, just recently a mogul...

I've bought quite a few things off of CL with good experiences, including my former M1. But even though it's local, getting a phone with a bad ESN will still leave a bad taste in one's mouth. Luckily I've had nothing but good experiences with CL.

Yeah,a rep i beat, probably his buddy. If he can't give you the ESN to check yourself don't trust em.

I buy and sell on Craig's List all the time with cell phones, just verify ESN number before buying and then you wil be ok. I have gotten some really good deals. Before you hand them the cash call Sprint when you are with the person and verify that everything is ok, or go one step further and acivate the phone while they are with you before they leave so that way you are not screwed.:headbang2
