LOL at paying a monthly fee for Telenav. It can be had for free (program itself and no monthly fees) if you really want it. :hee:

He's talking about software you can download. My Samsung A920 couldn't do that . That's why $30 plan. See this thread - www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151611

I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. :-) I have helped at least 2 people here find and install it successfully. I myself have been using it since Dec 07 without:
A. Downloading the program from Telenav
B. Paying a monthly fee for using it. I have probably used it 50+ times showing family and friends how it works. The directions are pretty darn accurate!
I only have 5.2.5.0 in 176x220. A Rumkin user posted a link at the bottom of the uploader page (if you look I think he reposted it recently). You have to save the .jad and .jar files to your desktop and user gtoal uploader to send a text with the link to your phone. Download, install and enjoy! If the link is not posted there send me a PM and I will reply with the link.

When I had my Upstage I had a "free" version. I'm not sure if what's you're saying will work with the Touch.

For those of us on the "Free Unlimited" Telenav plans...have you ever received any charges or fees associated with using this "free" service? I am currently attempting to assist others in upgrading to the "free" plan but they are receiving "trial expired" messages, invalid username/password, etc. When I installed mine it went over without a hitch and I have been using it extensively since December with out problem or charge/fee number one. :confused

Nick, you need to define "free" & type of phone. I have Centro now but I had Samsung A920 when I used Telenav. A920 isn't smartphone/PDA . Can't download software. What I "downloaded" was just enuff to subscribe & acess Telenav server to generate maps & dir. Because of all the bytes Sprint charged monthly fee OR subscribe to $30 Vision plan/unlimited downloads & then Telenav was "free" . Now w/Centro I have to purchase GPS Rrcvr & software but now I don' nd to subscribe to Telenav cuz evrythng I need is in my memory card & GPS rcvr. so you need to define exactly what it is you're doing so someone can give you correct answer.

Also, when you "downloaded" Telenav, were you already on Unlimited Vision plan? and the other people you've helped? What service plan are you and the others on? When I first tried Telenav it gave me a choice: trial run or monthly sub or Unlimited Vision plan. If others are getting error msgs and trial expired, this maybe reason why. You may have misled them onto thinking they were getting it for "free". What I "downloaded" from the Sprint/Vision downloads page was "free" too, but using Telenav isn't.

Lets put it this way... I have Unlimited Vision access that was negotiated in my latest contract on both lines. I DID NOT download my Telenav program from Sprint or Telenav. I installed Telenav 5.2.5.0 on both Muziq phones on my plan without any expiration/free trial language, etc. I can use it 100% for directions, current gas prices, etc. I have yet to incur charge number one from Sprint or Telenav since I started using it Dec. 2007. A few people from this board have contacted me as to where I got the program, and I have directed them to the site as well as given instructions on how to upload it. I understand installation per phone model may vary but I did not intend to give instructions on how to install it so I didn't take care to write then down. I know there are others on this board that are on the "permanent free trial service" like myself and that is why I asked if they have incurred any "surprise" charges from Sprint or Telenav. :whisper:

for some reason i downloaded the trial for telnav, and was never charged for it. i've had it for like 2 years now, through various phones. i just send it to the new phone from sprint's website. it works out.

Apologies for the necromancy, but it looks like Nick N. no longer hangs around here. :( His PM inbox is full.
Does anyone have the .jar he mentioned? I would be eternally grateful. (Or, if the app expires, I'd be grateful until then :p)
Thanks in advance!

Does this "trick" even work anymore? I, too, would be grateful if pointed towards the right direction. A 240x320 resolution version would be nice.

Anybody know if the Data Plus Pack includes Sprint Navigation? I was told no, but whenever I use it these days I don't get that message anymore of needing to add Navigation or incur charges. Haven't seen extra charges on my bill yet for it.
Also, it's telling me of an available software update for the Sprint Navigation. I'm afraid there is some kind update that will disallow Data Packages that doesn't have Navigation included.
Just wondering.
