View Full Version : End of Contract...New Palm Centro?

My contract with Sprint is ending in April 2008. I am fairly pleased with Sprint service, however not too pleased with their rates, charges for extras (not complaining about having to pay for extras, but the prices are steep considering the price they already charge for standard service.)

Anyway, my question is, what do you think my chances are of getting a Palm Centro at a low price? (low meaning around $100-150) That phone might change my decision to leave Sprint for Verizon.
I am waiting until my contract is expired, just so you know. And I'm not asking for any other discounts, I will pay the same monthly charges I'm currently paying.

Any input is appreciated....

The Centro in my store is $150 with a $50 mir, so you're set there. Call in closer to your contract being up and see if you can get a loyalty discount, nothing wrong with that.

My brother called the other day to cancel his service with Sprint to go to AT&T and they offered him a Centro for 70 bucks and a good deal on a Q9C. To my amazement he stayed with Sprint. Its funny how discounted phones can change your mind so easily. I know I would.

I'm definately waiting until my contract expires. I currently have 2 lines, 1500 shared minutes, N&W @ 6, free Sprint to Sprint and $10 1000 texts. My bill is $170 after tax....

I was hoping to get the Centro w/ $15 1000 or unlimited texts and unlimited power vision. No sense in getting the Centro with no internet!

I would probably do it maybe a week before your contract expires. i think you would have more leverage with them. I am out of contract and i never could pull the discounts my brother got on his phone and plan.

Do you have any experience with Verizon? I used to have them, and I got tired of every month (and I do mean every) having to call them about charges they added to my bill. They duped me into doing some sweepstakes texting that was the final straw with me, because they charged me for the texts to them. I know someone else who has unlimited texting with Verizon, and they got charged a couple of bucks not too long ago for some sort of "premium text". Verizon has a reputation of nickel and diming their customers, which was my experience. If that was the only cellular provider left, I'd find the day I didn't carry a cell phone anymore.

There, my $.02. :D

Is this your first two years with Sprint? If so, that probably means you haven't used your phone upgrade rebate yet. You should be eligible for a $150 after 22 months of using your current phone, if you agree to sign a new two year contract. If your two years is up in April, that means you'll probably be able to use your phone upgrade rebate in February.

You can check your eligibility at http://www.sprintrebates.com/ Click the "check your eligibility here" link.

My Fusic ended up finally going on the fritz the other day, so I got the Musiq as a replacement..after fiddling with the Centro and some other phones in the store, I decided to stick with the Musiq.
My boyfriend who is also on the plan contacted Sprint last night about renewing the contract and he got the Touch for free, 1000 texts and unlimited internet for $20 (both lines together).

I dont think he got to bad of a deal....

I got my Centro for $99 after $150 instant rebate (with Sprint 5 years) , $100 store discount and $50 mail in rebate + my battery on my A920 was dying and would've spent $40 on new battery. so I figure Centro cost me $60

Seriously ... ask them about a loyalty discount. After you get the phone you want. And I've seen more discounted text addons than PowerVision...

It seems that you are paying a bit much much for both lines. Are you using one of the currently offered plans?

You probably could have gotten a SERO account since you were out of contract. It's a heavily discounted sprint plan.

Do you qualify for an employer discount? Could save you 10-20%.

I would seriously consider asking about a loyalty discount, you don't know if you don't ask!
