the battery prongs that keep the battery attached to the phone broke off my sanyo m1 this morning. now i have to keep my battery on the phone with a rubberband or else the battery contacts dont touch the phone and it wont turn on. will a store cover this for free if i bring it in, like give me a new battery for free, or should i buy a battery off ebay like this one

That's why its called Total Equipment Protection :p It covers anything. They'll probably just give you a new battery. They should have some in the back.

only thing is the closest corporate store is an hour away. we did have a corporate store when we were an affiliate market. now that were a corporate market, all the stores are agents, the corporate store closed down and the repair tech went to the corporate store a hour away in Indiana

emailed ecare

heres what i got back:

Thank you for your reply. Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding the battery

I understand that the battery prongs have broken and it is unable to hold the battery. I am really sorry for this. In order to get a new battery, I request you to contact our accessory hotline at 1-888-231-1675. One of our specialists will be glad to assist you. I would like to share with you that the battery replacement is not covered in the insurance. I request you to purchase the battery from the Accessory Hotline. After you purchase the battery, I request you to write back with the scanned copy of the receipt and I will apply the credit against the charge of battery. Thank you for emailing us. It was a pleasure assisting you and I look forward to more opportunities to serve you in future.

Have a great day!

That looks like your best option, especially if want to avoid that drive. The store probably will replace it for free but you would have to let them order a new instore and go back to pick up the new one

Don't buy another battery, you said you have 3rd part stores around you?

They can do an advanced exchange which involves a new or refurb phone and battery.

I will soon have an extra battery, so if you don't want to risk getting a refurb phone I'd be happy to send you one of mine.

all the store here are agents like the radioshack i work at. they just care about selling plans and accessories with the phones. they tell the customer they same we do, 2 options, we send it off, no loner phone, be without your phone for up to 2 weeks, or drive a hr to the corporate store in indiana

id love a battery from you :fingers:

just use a rubberband while they send you the new battery and then scan the receipt in and email it back to that chick.

Hey Josh, I'm sorry I can't get it out before the weekend. I just bought a new old house, and it needs a LOT of fixin', so I'm super busy right now. It's definitely going out early next week

i just had the EXACT same problem with my battery on my M1...And I've only dropped the phone once in my life and that's when the prongs broke..I did take it into a Corporate Sprint store and they did mail a battery to my house @ no additional charge!! Sorry I haven't been on the site in a long time so I couldn't respond sooner..Hope this helps.
