I have been with Sprint for over 10 years now. Pretty much I am happy with the service. I just renewed my contract and they gave me a great deal. Part of the deal was that I got 3 LG Rumor phones. I would like to upgrade the ringers if that is possible. I see all kinds of site that give free ring tones. Can I get these? Does Spring charge for down loading? Is there a way for me to transfer them straight from my laptop? Just in general what is the deal with downloading to my phone? I need this info before my daughter figures it out so I can show her up once in awhile. She usually gets this kind of info before me. Buy the way, I found this site as I was doing research for my upcoming renew of the contract and you guys helped me out alot. So thanks for the help to all of you. :headbang2

To really show up your daughter you could make your own ringtones! To do this you just need Audacity which is free and some mp3's. I'm not sure if the Rumor will play mp3 ringtones, but if it doesn't I know there's free programs out there that will convert the mp3 to m4a or qcp which are pretty much the standard files accepted my cell phones.
As for the sites with free ringtones you could download them or have them sent to your phone via an uploader(which we here as SU have out great Focus Uploader that you could use) which doesn't cost anything, but will come to your phone as a text message and you should have a vision plan to download or you'll be charged for the incoming text and charged again for the vision access if you don't already have them.
The other option you have would to be to buy a data cable for your Rumors and transfer them that way. I've never added ringtones to a Rumor that way so can't give you a whole lot on insight on that one, but the uploader method will work with any Sprint phone!

I looked at the focus uploader on this site but I got the impression it was $9 a month, I like the idea of making my own though, just need to get the data cable. Any good site to get this or should I got to Sprint.

There are also quite a few members here who run ringer websites, myself included (though admittedly my collection is stale & never updated). You don't need a data cable to put them on your phone, and that's actually not very easy and sometimes not worth it. You'll need a Vision/Power Vision package to use an uploader. There's more about that in the thread I linked you to.
