Hi everyone!
I just came up on a deal that I couldn't pass up on a Sanyo M1, so I bought it.
I currently have grandfathered vision on my Sanyo 5600 and was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade that line to the M1 and keep the grandfathered vision.
If so, how would I go about doing this?
Thanks in advance for your help and taking your time to read my post.
Cheers!

It's not likely that you'll be able to keep your grandfathered plan. I was given a monthly service credit to offset some of the price difference. I think I renewed my contract at the time.

I still have an old plan. Just say you want to do an esn swap and not change your plan no matter what they say. Do not activate in store, call *2.

I would think that you would be ok on just doing the ESN swap as well. They shouldn't have to touch your plan at all.

OK, so I will try calling *2 and doing an esn swap- I have a feeling that they may try to bring up the fact that my 5600 is on regular vision and the M1 is on Power Vision and try to get me to "upgrade".
Is it possible to have me on the grandfathered vision that's EVDO?
Thanks again for the previous replies :)

Yes its very possible. I have GF vision on my mogul and sanyo 9000 now and I have power vision access and speed.

Yeah you should be fine i went from a 5600 to an 8300 to now a katana deluxe 8500 and i still only pay 20 bucks a month for unlimited texting, unlimited power vision, unlimited picture mail and video mail.

OK so I just got off the phone with Sprint, and they *could not* upgrade the line without putting me on a different and more expensive Power Vision pack.
Right now I am paying $10/mo for unlimited vision/text/video/photo on my main line (grandfathered vision from '01). On my third line I am paying $7.50/mo for the Vision Plus pack, which is half off of the normal $15/mo charge.
So I ended up doing an esn swap from my 9000/MVP to the M1 to save my grandfathered vision. This line has the ultimate power vision plan for $20/mo, and was the only line I could activate the M1 on without modifying my data services.
Any other ideas on how to get my M1 on to the grandfathered vision line without losing it?

Call back and get someone else. If you are on the new billing system you can do online esn swaps.

you can do it in the store. go in and ask a rep (manager would be best) to backdoor activate it thru p2k because you dont want to lose your vision. thats what i have done numerous times and have gotten ev-do speeds.
however... if you are in ensamble, that would work. you have to be in premiere billing system.

I talked to a manager and she could not put my M1 on the 5600's line bc it she doesn't have a code in p2k that allows grandfathered vision that has EVDO.
Should I just call executive services? I'm at a loss here and really want EVDO speeds for my grandfathered vision price ($10 unlimited data/photo/video/text).
Thanks again for reading and your help.

Did you call *2 back? Or ask for tech support. They should be able to do it also.

OK just got off the phone with *2, and they were able to put my 9000 on the line that had the 5600, but they had to upgrade my Vision Plus package to the equivalent EVDO plan. But the CSR was kind enough to have Retention put in a code to get the equivalent EVDO plan for $5, down from $7.50 for the regular Vision Plus plan.
I am very happy :)
Thank you all for your advice.

So in the new billing system (Ensemble) I would be able to do an ESN swap to activate an EVDO phone on the old grandfathered Vision (which is free and includes unlimited texts on my line)? I am not in Ensemble yet, I am on P2K which allows this type of swap (EVDO phone on a regular Vision plan) via calling *2.

You should be able to.
