I tried this and my Power Vision connection speed was WAY faster! ##33284#, then go to "Rate set(x1)", select packet 144/230, then end. :tu:

I forgot to tell everyone that I did this on a Sanyo scp 8400 (sorry). I think it will work on pretty much any Sanyo model.

ummmm isn't this controlled on the network side??? therefore any changes made on the handset would not have an effect on the actual data transfer rate??? last i knew this is how it was . . . . . .

no, but the 1x should be a dead giveaway it has no effect on evdo, thats for 1xRTT only

Uuuuum before everyone uuuuum gets too smug with their replies, try it. It really worked on mine. If your cursor/highlighter flys all the way to the bottom of your homepage when you activate web, then it worked.

cool...I tried it but it seemed the same. Vision can only get so fast...

Thats weird because my net speed is, well..... let me put it this way, pages used to take about 5-8 seconds to appear. Now after switching it to packet 144/230k, they take about 1-3 seconds to appear and when I switch it back to packet 144k, the speed is normal again. The first time I did it I had to try it a couple of times for it to work. I wonder if you have to have a Power Vision pack for it to work or maybe my phone is an Autobot from Cybertron who's evdo capabilities are far more superior to Earth's:lol:! If there is some sort of glitch or bug thats allowing me to get away with this then thats, well..... EVEN COOLER!!!

Hey sde780 (if you dont mind me asking), what phone model did you try it on?
BrettW

with the setting @ default, mm9000 gets 921kbit/sec mobile speed test,
with the setting @ your setting mm9000 gets 918kbit/sec
so no change.

Im trying it on a sanyo m1, in a vision area

Someone should try it on an 8400. It could only work on that model. I apologize if I was wrong about it working on all Sanyo phones.

thats a hack that originates from phones as old as the 7500 and older, it has nothing to do with only the 8400
as i said its for 1xRTT only. it has no affect on EVDO

Well BrettW, it works on my 8400 and it actually didnt work on my 7500.

continue dreaming then. because i can guarantee it has no effect on evdo. its a setting for the packet size on 1xRTT, there is no such setting for EVDO due to the difference in data transmission.

All i know is my net is way faster after switching the packet. Look BrettW, im just trying to pass on something that seems to work for me and if your trying to slam someone to boost your image, then thats pretty petty and immature!
I understand what you're saying BrettW ;)

take a read around the forum. i have no image to boost. nor would i want to boost such said image.
all im saying is rate set(1x) predates EVDO it was (possibly is) used to set the packet send and receive size for 1xRTT connections.
end the end i will remove myself from this topic, and let it return to topic, this fact vs opinion argument will go on forever.

1xRTT was the first version of mobile data transfer and settings for this would have no effect on EVDO data transfer as brettw said. mrirish try doing some speed tests with your phone on both settings and compare the results, that will give you a definitive answer

BrettW is pretty cool around the forums, I don't think he meant it that way.
If you think about what he said, it makes sense; EVDO is way fast than 144k

i did 10 tests for both settings to end this argument (and because i'm really bored), with the phone sitting by a window, not moved and nothing blocking its reception with 3 bars of service. i've had this setting changed on all my sanyo phones, from the 4900 and up, but rarely do i drop into 1xrtt mode so it doesn't make any difference to me either way. i would do more with the data statistically to have some fun with it, but my ti83's batteries are dead and i forget how to do stuff w/out it, so i just included the averages.
obviously, changing the setting does absolutely nothing. the only difference you are noticing is an illusion. the highest highs were surprisingly found with the 144 setting, and even more shockingly, the lowest lows were found in the 144/230 setting. i won't go as far as saying that changing it will make it slower, but if you look at the results, thats the only conclusion you could come to.
