Just wanting to know if the "secret" $40 1k minute retention plan is an Ensemble-only code or if it is something that even us P2K customers can get access to. Thanks!

I was offered that plan in P2K early last year. It has definitely stood the test of time.

yup, the $40 for 1000 minutes is an awesome plan but i believe that you are unable to share the minutes.

you can share the minutes. I was on that plan until last month. 2 lines where the second was free. lines 3-5 were $20 though. (didnt have those)

who did u call to be able to get that plan as shared mins. I called cs and they said it was individual only. I wanted put my b.f. on my acct & have him use my old moto q. I am tempted to just put him on sero & save the trouble.

call *2 and when it says "tell me why you're calling" say "cancel" this will send you to the retentions department. My bill was about $150 (with 2 lines, 700 anytime mins, unlmt data & txt). I asked the lovely girl (Jennifer) about the $40/1000 shared and she said "there is a $50/1000.. I told her, my friend has $40/1000 and she discounted $10 a month to counterbalance. She was quite friendly.. fancied her a bit to be honest :)

what deryn said. except I don't remember saying cancel, I just asked but that doesn't mean I didn't. lol I would go SERO looking back now especially if it is just for one line and its a port.

so i read this thread and decided to call up and try to get the same plan. i wasn't holding my breath though. i called Executive Services instead of Retentions because i had no intentions of cancelling and felt a little guilty if i tried to get it through that department (thats just me though). plus i think that sprint notes your account everytime you call retentions and i want to use them as sparingly as possible.
anyway the nice lady there told me that that the 1000 for $40 was an indivuadle plan (i have three lines). i told here that i was calling because i was attracted to the cheeper price and she said that what she could do was to give me a recarring credit of $10 to bring down the price a little. i asked if this would extend my plan and she checked and said no.
not the 1000 for $40 but still cool that she did that. i just hope that it sticks when i go over to the new billing system.

I've had it for a few years too. Sucks that you can't share the minutes or else I wouldn't have an entirely new plan for my 2nd line.

I have noticed that people are having trouble with roaming when sprint ran out of numbers and had to use other area codes.

Quick question. I know I could search, but I'm too lazy. What is Ensemble? I think it has something to do with billing. Am I wrong? I don't think I have Ensemble and I doubt I want it. Also, Sprint keeps giving me a few dollars each month of credit, which is awesome considering they pack on all those fraudulant fees.
Next question: if someone has SERO, does that mean they can use unlimited free internet on their Treo 700wx?
Final question, what is better the Treo 700wx or the Mogal and are there any new PocketPC phones coming out. Also is blackberry or Palm better or worse than the windows version?

A. Ensemble is the Nextel billing system. Sprint is changing its billing system to Enselmble. You do not have a choice whether to be on it or not - unless you leave Sprint - all Sprint customers will be migrated eventually. Good and bad - no stacked discounts (bad), less flexibility in plans (bad) - Online ESN changes (good), pick 3/5 (good) - etc.
B. If you have SERO with unlimited internet, then you can use it on the Treo if that is the SERO device. Check online in your account to make sure that it is enabled - it should be but you do NOT want to rack up casual data charges - very pricy.
C. Palm vs Windows - better? Depends on the user and what you want to use it for. I like both but for different things. I am a Pocket PC (windows) PDA user but I chose the Palm format for my phone - Treo 755p. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. Some hate the Palm OS because it is "dated" I find it very functional for maintaining my contacts and phone stuff. I did NOT like using the Windows based phone but that is personal preference.
Hope this helps.

Can you elaborate please? The Sprint rep told me we were still on a combination of 2 old billing systems (P2K and something else I forget the name). She said when we switched to ensemble it wouldn't affect us and our plan would stay the same. We have the fair and flexible now with good bonuses and have a corporate discount. When you say no stacked discounts and less flexibility in plan are you saying we could lose our plan and they could take away the corporate discount? Or do you mean if we had a corporate discount and loyalty discount those don't stack in ensemble so they would take it away? Thanks!

P2K is the old (Sprint/outsourced) billing system and Ensemble is the new (Nextel/in-house) billing system. Each account is on one of those two systems, and Sprint is currently in the process of moving all the P2K accounts to Ensemble. You can have both a loyalty and an NVP discount... except if you're on a SERO plan, you're not supposed to have any discounts at all on top of the plan. If you have a standard (non-retention) plan, you shouldn't have any problem keeping it when your account is migrated. If it's a non-standard plan, you may or may not have problems. If you lose any discounts after being migrated, you should call Sprint and hopefully they can fix it for you.

ahh yes.. the good 'ol Free & Clear 1000 min plan. I was on it too til they totally tricked me into getting a heavily (but short term) discounted F&F plan. i miss that $40 1000min plan so so much it's not funny.

I had the 1000AT/$40/mo plan, it was great, but it was 8pm nights and of course didn't have data. I had the $10 Vision option with unl SMS and $40+10/mo - discounts was a great deal.
But I knew that moving to PV meant that I had to give up the $10 Vision+SMS. Rather than all the negotiations to get a similar PV option with free unl SMS, it seemed smarter to go for SERO, at 1250mins+PV+SMS+7pm for $50.
As it turned out, with a bunch of perks such as S2H and the 7pm and FIMF, I found I could lower my overall AT usage to 500mins, thus the SERO at $30 ends up being just right... but 1000AT/$40 was good for a long while...

I guess I just decided not to have to fight that battle and instead fight the battle to convert to SERO (which turned out to be not too bad a fight (2 calls))...

I lost my unlimited text with vision pack when I have it for $15.00 so for me $10.00 plus the $5 unlimited Text isn't a bad deal after all the loyalty discounts. Plus this way If I ever change my plan to the BB plan my Unlimited text won't be affected

That's pretty terrible. I emailed ecare and they wrote this back.
"Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding the Sprint Free Message.
Let me assure that you will continue receiving the invoices in the current format and your account number will also remain the same. The account will not have any changes due to the billing system change.
This is the message which every customer is receiving this message whose billing system is changing. DO not worry at all in this regard.
We thank you for contacting us. Have a nice day!"
So now I have leverage when Sprint tries to F me over. Still I am not going to want to waste my time talking to some dumb customer service representative. At least I can yell at someone. That might be fun! Hehe.

Actually I can say that the $40/1000 min plan exists and is shareable and is on ensemble.
My plan went out of wack after migration in ensemble when it switched a couple month back. (had the $50/1000min plan with 6 lines...don't ask, long story) When all of my stacked discounts disappeared, I was calling in every month to try to fix my plan. Last month I just got tired of calling in to get it fixed so i called the executive services. (I read in SU that it's the highest you can go) The guy I spoke with was very understanding and instead of trying to fix the mess, made a brand new plan out of the sand.
Now I have a $40/1000min (free and clear)plan with 5 lines sharing for free and other discounts. I don't believe anybody can just order up for you but the plan exists....

I think it had already been established that there is a 40 1000 min plan that lets u share lines. its just the luck of the draw as some people are more willing to give it than others

Well I guess the inconsistency works well for people who can work the system but it really doesn't look well for the normal consumer. I do concur that Sprint is a unique and ghettolicious company yappering! lol

My brother is out of contract with AT&T.
I told him that sprint has some pretty good plans, SERO and such.
Can he get the $40/1000 Minute Plan?

you could ask about it. the worse answer you can get is a no. there are many different plan configuration so good luck but try not to push them too much. being polite and courteous is your best chance.

Not Likely. This is a plan offered by account services to "retain" customers. Since your brother is not a customer needing to be "retained," he is likely not going to get this plan.
As mentioned in the thread you created about your brother, SERO is the best way to go. He should jump on it now and get it while it is good because nothing says it will be around in its current form forever.

Thanks for the advise:)
I thought about a separate thread after i read about this thread:)
I will have to speak to my brother regarding signing up for SERO asap since the general consensus is that the plan may not be available in the future.
He was waiting to switch because he wanted to see if Sanyo was coming out with any new phones by April.
