I want to upgrade my phone to a mogul or something of the like and still have the free unlimited vision.

Should I try calling retentions? I feel like I'm paying a bit much after reading through the retentions thread. Especially with some of the phones people have.

Many thanks!

You ARE paying too much. How many of those 2500ATM do you actually use? How about calls made after hours?

You should EASILY be able to get Free:
2nd, 3rd, and 4th line.
N&W starting at 6 p.m.
unlimited texting for all lines
Unlimited roaming
Unlimited long distance
Mobile to mobile

As well as some kind of break on Power Vision and VERY good deals on new phones. Not so sure on the free picture mail, etc. but if you already have it then that should make it easier to keep it.

Just call *2 say cancel and explain your situation NICELY and see what they offer.

Thanks for the reply.

Right now we're only paying extra for the 4th line which is 20 bucks extra (ouch). I just looked at our statement and it seems we barely come close to using 1000 minutes. At the most we use about 1500 a month.

We have:
-unlimited texting
-unlimited grandfathered vision
-unlimited picture
(not sure what unlimited long distance is)
-unlimited calling to any of the three phones on the plan
-Free calling at 9

The fouth line is really killing us. Younger brother thought it would be a good idea not to do any research before he bought his phone which ended up costing another 40 bucks, jeeze.

The two phones we'd be looking at would be either the Touch or the Mogul. Both seem to have their fair share of problems but if I can get a decent deal on them I'd be hard pressed not to do so.

I emailed e-care and asked what they could do and I got this

Question: Our contract has been expired on 6339 and 6587 for over 4 years now. Also 6982 has been expired for a few months now. I am curious as to the new plans/upgrades we are eligible for at the moment.

Thanks

To which I replied:

I am looking at either the HTC Mogul, or the HTC Touch for the three lines. These phones use the power vision network but our current plan has regular unlimited vision. We would then be forced to pay alot more than we currently do for a service we had already had an unlimited usage for. This also includes unlimited text messaging which we would lose if we changed plans to a powervision phone.

How much would these phones cost after the rebates and what kind of plan is available to us with these phones?

No response yet.

About a year ago they tried to migrate our plan and we lost the grandfathered vision plan which took about 3 months to resolve after complaining to the BBB. Finally got everything taken care of through their special department and they added the 15% discount.

Thanks for the help!

OK. This is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I think it's obvious at this point ecare will will not give you what you are looking for, nor is it all that special. Dial *2, say cancel, and cross your fingers for someone looking to help and knows the ins and outs of deals.

Because you hardly use any of the minutes you currently have in your monthly plan, switch to a lower minute plan, i.e. 1500 ATM. You should be able to get this plan for $69.99, at least. Maybe lower but don't press your luck. ;) Also, you should be able to get all the additional lines for free. Play stupid and ask "is there any way to get avoid the additional line fees?". There is and don't accept anything less. With the 1500ATM F&F plan you should be able to get free roaming, long distance (calls anywhere in the US without additional charges), N&W @ 7 (ask for it to start @ 6 for free. Again play dumb, it works.), and unlimited texting for all lines. The Power Vision I am not so sure on to be honest. Maybe someone else can chime in on that one but I did get Power vision Ultimate pack for $15 on one of my lines. I have seen others get power vision for free on multiple lines.

Now as far as the phones go. The price ecare quoted you is the same price you can get online through sprint. They should be able to do better. ESPECIALLY if you are looking to get multiple phones at once. I can't comment on the HTC but I just renewed my plan and got 3 Rumors for $25 ea. I still had 6 months left on my contract and the three phones I replaced were only eligible for the $75 upgrade not the $150 and I still got them for $25 less than online with a new plan.

I hope this info works. Just remember, if you don't like the offerings from retentions hang up and call back. Just don't do it a million times a day as it's noted on your account when you call.

Good luck!!!

I wouldn't bother asking for nights to start 6pm if you don't need it. And it sounds like you don't. If you go for the 1500 minute plan, that should be enough minutes once you factor in the additional 2 hours of NW minutes that you didn't have before. Skipping out on this perk is just one less thing to ask for and perhaps could be useful in helping to land a perk that you are more in need of.

I went into the sprint store and checked out the various phones and did a bit of research. So far nothing really jumps out at me unfortunatly.

The mogul would have been my top choice if it weren't so thick.

The touch was my next choice with the sleek design, but the little touch keyboard is a royal pain in the ass.

Also the windows mobile 6 platform seems TERRIBLE always locking up and has infinite memory leaks.

So the rep pointed me in the direction of the 755 treo it felt a bit bulky I kinda liked the keys but wasn't a bit fan of the interface and I kinda want a bigger screen.

I'm very nitpicking and nothing really jumped out at me. So unless retentions can give me free powervision and a better deal than the obvious on their websites/instore I'll be fairly hard pressed to move away from what I have phone wise.

Also, keep in mind that sprint does rate your account worthiness, for lack of a better word. You may or may not get the same deals as others here

still haven't gotten a chance to call retentions yet but I did get a nice response from them stating I could have the powerpack plan with unlimited data and text messaging for free if I got a new mogul/touch.

This is what I said:
On the sprint website it says I can upgrade my phones at a cost of
249.99for the touch and
299.99 for the mogul.

Also, it seems a bit strange to pay extra for a service that was included in
my plan (unlimited text messaging and unlimited data/picture usage).

Their response:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I understand that the website is showing the cost of Touch by HTC for $249.99 and Mogul by HTC for $299.99. But it is for the new line of activation. However, for the existing customers, we offer rebates as mentioned in the previous interaction. So, after the rebates of $150.00 on each handset along with the promised credit of $50.00 from our end, you will be able to get the Touch by HTC for $299.99 and Mogul by HTC for $349.99.

I understand that you were receiving free Unlimited data and text messaging on your account with the current plan. So, I assure you that we will make the necessary changes on the account after the plan changed to Power Pack plan and you will receive free Unlimited data and text messaging on your account after the plan change as well. You can keep this e-mail as confirmation.

So, I request you to please visit the nearest Sprint store and will receive a rebate of $150.00 from there. I request you to please reply to this e-mail after activating the new handset and will apply the promised credit of $50.00 on each line from here.

Also, please reply with confirmation and will change the plan on the account to Power Pack plan with free Unlimited data and text messaging.

Thank you for emailing us. We appreciate your relationship with us, and look forward to serving you in the future.

What would they have offered you if you would have told them that you were going to cancel and then you will be considered a new customer?
