The NY Giants
Eli Manning is a talentless clown who didnt want to go to San Diego because it was going to 'ruin' his career....
guess what sweetheart, that's how it works. you get drafted, you play for the team.

Being a Giant fan I can not stand Dallas and their obnoxious owner. And to all the haters picking on Eli Manning, Id say he had a pretty good 2 weeks for a talentless clown! :haha:
The Chargers franchise being an upgrade over the NY Giants? I think not! :headbang2. The Giants franchise has a lengthy history in the NFL. The Chargers are just some of the new kids on the block that came with the merger.

The Chargers have had one Superbowl appearance and were killed by the 49ers. Eli didn't want to play for a team that has no history of success and no history of going the extra mile to get the players to get them there.
Any quarterback in the game would rather play in NY than San Diego, just on the fact of the press your career will get if you are successful.
The Chargers will be done next week anyway. The Giants probably will be too, but I'm sure the Giants future will be better than the Charges. Put LT in the Giants backfield and see how Eli would open up the field with the threat of his running game.
People just pick on Eli because he is a Manning and want to see him fall on his face. I give him a lot of credit for all the crap hes taken in NY and he still keeps his cool and goes out and gives a big effort week after week.

you both realize that during the NFL draft Eli informed the Chargers that if he was drafted by the Chargers, he would not sign. Manning said his refusal to play for San Diego was he felt that San Diego would not be conducive to his future
Although, i think the Chargers ended up on the better side of that whole trade getting Rivers AND Shawne Merriman in return for Eli
Heck, Joey Harrington was a starter, and Rex Grossman led his team to the superbowl... :hee::hee:

Thats why San Diego drafted him. They knew he would not sign but they figured they could get more out of the Giants in a trade. It worked out for them and it was a smart move.
I still see LaDainian Tomlinson out there with this great career and no Superbowl appearances to show for it. Eli made a wise move in my opinion.

To early to yell yet. I don't see any rings on their fingers either. And Rivers has been just like Eli, up and down. I would have drafted Ben Roethlisberger before Rivers anyway. Rivers hasn't proved anything yet.
Time will tell, but I bet in the end Eli has a better career than Rivers does. Peyton Manning didn't win his first playoff game until his 6th season. Eli just one his first in his fourth season. Unless someone has a crystal ball we wont have the answer for another 10 years.

Peyton won his first playoff game in his 4th season.....Peyton also set all sorts of records his rookie season (albeit a 3-13 rookie season).
what records does Eli have?
and wasnt it your argument that because LT didnt have a ring the Chargers were the inferior program?
regardless of playoff record you have not refuted my claim that Eli's behavior in the draft showed a complete lack of class.

Everything I have stated is just as it is, fact. Its not an argument. Rivers has not won anything, either has Eli. Who is the better quarterback, its a matter of opinion.
As to who has a better program, I have seen the Giants in 3 Superbowls, and watched them win 2. I have seen the Chargers in 1 and get murdered, its a fact. That tells me they have an inferior program, they have never won anything, thats a fact. No Superbowl rings!
In regards to Eli being classless because he told San Diego he would not play for them. I do not see that as being classless, I see it as a person who wants to have a say in his future. If people see it as classless, thats their opinion. The funny thing is that if anyone here was told they have to work for a certain company they would have a fit. I'm sure you weren't told where you have to work. He was upfront and outright and told them he would not play in San Diego.
The classless act was San Diego drafting him so they could squeeze the Giants for another draft pick, already knowing he would not sign. Thats my opinion on that, not fact, but everything else is in the history books, or yet to be seen.

 I understand how the draft works, and if you do not want to sign with the team that drafted you, you have the right to sit out the year and not sign. Apparently the Chargers weren't prepared to call Eli out on it and wait it out.
The Chargers rather than wait and see, or negotiate, decided it would be easier to get an extra draft pick out of the Giants. I give them credit, they got what they wanted, and Eli got what he wanted, not become invisible in a franchise with no history, press or big tv markets.
If LaDainian Tomlinson played in NY, Philly, Dallas, etc. he would be the number 1 name in the NFL. Unfortunately he plays in San Diego, and is not a household name. Basically he proved what Eli feared, getting lost in a franchise with no history or press clippings.
And one other point about being classless. When Tiki Barber knocked Eli he took the high road and acted with class and didnt get into name calling. I saw Rivers this week, yelling at his players when they dropped passes, yelling at the refs and Merriman kicking the ground and whining at the refs.
It all goes back to opinions , to me what Rivers and Merriman did is being classless, and I have never seen Eli do that. :headbang2

Only football fans know who he is. He has not transcended into a household name like Michael Jordan, or OJ (when he wasn't killing people, lol) or Shaq.
With his talent he should have done that by now. Unfortunately he's lost in San Diego with limited press coverage. I bet more non football fans know who Eli Manning is than LT.

Outside of NY doesn't matter. Why do you think agents want their players to play in NY. Press and media coverage converts to big money. And big money is made in NY, not in Arizona or San Diego.
Back to the point ,,,thats why Eli told San Diego no thanks. Smart business decision, and sorry but football is big business, and his career will bring in more money than Rivers will ever make in San Diego. Like I said, nice city, not a major sports town for an any athlete. Also you can say what you want about him, but one thing he has never done in NY is whine. He takes his licks in the press and comes back.

Exactly it was your choice to work where you wanted to. If you didn't want to work there, that wouldn't make it classless. It would simply be your decision. Players can make it a quality franchise to a point and make history. If management doesn't spend money and draft wisely, the players input is negated by management. I would not put the Charges in one of the elite franchises in the NFL by any means.
Classless is when a coach walks off the field without shaking hands with the other coach, and paying respect to the team he played. That is called Bill Belichick, lol

I agree with you. The Giants aren't an elite team, but they are a successful franchise over the years.
Belichick is a great coach and I have a lot of mixed feelings about him. He was the Giants defensive coach under Parcells, and I remember him actually smiling back then, lol.
As a Giant fan we owe him a lot for winning our championships. I just wish he would loosen up a little, life's too short to go around mad at the world. But you can't argue with success, it seems to work for him. He will definitely go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time.

All the knocking of Eli will not change his accomplishments whether you like him or not. Ten straight road wins, and in 3 playoff games Eli has not had even one turnover. I haven't heard anyone mention Peyton Manning since he was knocked out of the playoffs, lol. In New York they are talking Eli, not Peyton, maybe its your local media who likes to mention Peyton.
In addition, Eli or she-li (how cute) is now on the cover of this weeks Sports Illustrated, not Peyton, or Philip Rivers, they are home golfing.
All the Eli bashers can call him whatever they want, and knock him as much as they want. The fact is he has arrived. Personal opinions of people do not change the actual facts and stats. And name calling does not work either.
Eli Manning has led the Giants to the playoffs by beating the number 1 and 2 seeds, Dallas and Green Bay.
The Pats are the overall favorites and should be. But if I was a Pat fan I would not be happy with this match up. The Giants are hot and that can not be denied.
"Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it" I'm sure Belichick is not happy with this match up, playing a team on fire can be a *****!

Thats cool everyone likes to have fun. But there are some people that will not give Eli credit just because they don't like him or because he is not on their team.
As a Giant fan I know we are up against a great team. No question about it. Being on the north shore of LI I have been to see a few Patriot games, I was loving the rumor when they were going to move to Conn. Less traveling.
The Patriots have the better team the record speaks for itself. But in any game, turnovers, fumbles, interceptions and bad calls can turn a game around or make the difference in a win or loss.
The Giants played the Pats great the first time and I see another close game. The first game we played the Pats never saw our rookie running back Bradshaw, he was hurt. I'm hoping he has the kind of game he has had the last 3 games.
I saw the Jets beat the Colts in 1969 and they were 17 point underdogs. Anything can happen. You're a Red Sox fan, what would you have said if I told you they would beat the Yankees after being 3 games down.
My old coach always told me, "don't count it till its in the books!" :headbang2

For the Giants to have a chance to win they can't give up big plays, have to play 4 good quarters of football and continue to put pressure on Brady the entire game. One thing is good is that the Pats don't have the kicker that won them a few Superbowls.

I do agree. I too am a 49ers fan (OR "40 Whiners" for all you haters)
The only reason why I don't care for the Pats is because of all the small things that they do to belittle the team that they are beating. I mean given they had a historic 2007 season, until the super bowl (we WON'T go into that one).
But I mean seriously, why would you run up the score when you know you've won? Why would you WALK out on a game that hasn't finished? (EVEN @ 1 Second left on the clock). Why would you run the risk of getting caught, filming another team that you already know that you can beat? Why would you (dispite how it would make you look in the public eye) NOT shake the hand of the opposing teams head coach, just because you don't like the man? Makes no sense at all. And the answer to all those questions rests on the shoulders of one man, Belichick.
I guess in my OWN opinion, it's the not really the Patriots that should be hated, but Bill Belichick.
But then again, just how Spivdog stated (and it's true), the ONLY team that you should "HATE" are the ones that YOUR team faces week in, week out. :tu:

Now everyone is talking about Eli, and its not because he is Peytons brother! I am so happy he came through and shut up his critics.
Actually that brings up a possible topic:
Other than the Manning's (Archie, Payton & Eli), have there been players in the NFL who were Fathers and Sons who were successful? I mean I know that Archie didn't have a very successful career, but that was because it wasn't surrounded by talent. And it's sad.

Alright so that ends your question the cause Archie wasn't successful.
The other father son duo I can think of right now is the Mosi (pro bowl running back) and Lofa Tatupu
but here is a list of all father son Duos (successful or other wise) to ever play in the NFL Following are the 152 -- and 30 current -- NFL father-son duos and threesomes

Giants/Eagles/Redskins... Bet you can guess which team is my favorite.
But I am really not liking the Pats. They are a great team, that knows what it takes to win but come on playing for a team that has an above the rules coach makes you just as guilty as him.

Being a Dallas fan, I hate to say it, but I think Dallas is currently the most hated team, especially since Tom Brady is out for the season.

It absolutely has to be the Patriots, and its not just because I'm a Colts fan:). I must first say the Patriots are a good, well coached, well run organization. It was very impressive of the Patriots to win multiple Super Bowls with the talent they had.
That said, I think the Pats are the most hated mainly because of Belichick. He is not a well-liked coach, not a very friendly, open guy to the media. The Spygate accusations didn't help the Belichick's popularity and the Patriots' overall like-ability among opposing fans either. It really fueled the fire when people started questioning whether the Super Bowl wins were legit. Commissioner Goodell did investigate and punished who he had to and put the situation behind the NFL. Unfortunately, hard feelings in the NFL are difficult to forget (ex. Senator Arlen Specter). I'm not sure what ended up happening in those investigations. I wonder how many people think what is happening to them this season (and in the Super Bowl) is a result of karma (running up the score against other teams in 2007-2008 season).

As a long-term, macro-level hatred in the NFL, it has to be the Cowboys (the Pats aren't even close).
The Patriots are the flavor of the week of hated pro teams - they have had a few years at the highest level of the league, have a model-'dating' QB, and a sketchy-but-great coach. But the depth of hatred is just not there; before 2001 nobody outside of Greater Boston cared about the team, while a couple of mediocre years/loss of Brady and Belichick will drop into the morass of solid teams falling outside any of the great rivalries, but absent of a broad and deep hatred.
The Cowboys have had a long history of success, with an organizational ego to match. The team has a megolamaniac for an owner (though retaining the mental capability that his opposite number in Oakland has seemingly lost)...

Because of their meddling jerk of an owner. For the same reason Redskins and Raiders.

Patroits because i've been a rams fan all my life. it was brutal when they beat us by a field goal with time winding down. plus, i think tom brady is only an nfl quaterback for the ladies.

I am not going as far out as some.
Can not say I actually hate these 2 teams but the Steelers and Redskins are my least favorite team.
- Being form Baltimore, loving the Ravens since 1996.
-The Steelers are a rival- A Week later and just getting over last weeks game Pit@Bal 4th Q Disaster game. Controversial overturned TD call. "Booooo"
-Redskins The beltway enemy. Years ago my good friend loved the Skins so for us to bet I had to pick the opposite team.

DeadSkins Hands down. They are the reason B-more took so long to get a Team.
If it wasn't for all What Art Modell did for the NFL we still would be without a Team . Now we just have a Standing order for the Refs to F us over at all cost.
As for the Steelers Don't hate tem it's not teir doing for what happens with the Refs they are just playing to win. Don't like some of their players but we have that on every team.
Oh and I don't hate the Colts either just the Irsays as they are the Scum of the NFL.Man up why don't ya all.
