I currently have a family plan with two lines, one w/o contract and 2nd line ending in July 2008. I have Sanyo Katana and my wife has old LG 225. She is up for a new phone and is interested in the Katana DLX. We have been thinking about entering the 21st century and getting text messaging and internet but not sure what kinda plan to expect when we call retention. We currently have:
Current Plan:
Sprint Fair and Flex for Families
$59.99 for 550 minutes
FREE Sprint to Sprint
FREE Nights staring at 6PM
FREE ROAMING
23% corporate discount
What should I be asking for? Is asking for 1000 shared minutes for $40, unlimited text, nights at 6PM, free sprint to sprint, loyalty discount, No roaming and free vision out of the question. Please let me know what is reasonable. Thanks

I have the $40 plan with 1000 mins & its not shared. I think its 50 with shared & $60 for 1200 shared. I need a family plan now & it hasn't been successful so far.

Rather than calling Account Services and telling them what you want, you may want to call and mention that one line is out of contract and the other two are well on their way. I would simply state that you are looking to get more minutes (maybe about 1000), text messaging, and data services. I wouldn't necessarily ask for features for free. Explain to them what you are looking for and ask what they can offer. Work off of what they offer you. If you want to get all new phones and renew everything now, that may be an option as well. I would be upfront and tell them you would be willing to renew everything now if we can work on a plan that will fit our needs better and get the standard new customer price on new phones. Account Services is willing to work with you...Don't call them and ask for free stuff or perks because they will shut down and not offer you anything.

Depending on how long you have been with Sprint I don't think what you are asking for is out of the question except for the Vision for free maybe. Just call *2 and say cancel and explain your situation NICELY and see what they offer you. Don't expect the world on a silver platter but if you don't think you are getting a good deal, hang up and try again.

Well the 1000 minutes/$40 plan is now apparently a family plan as many people have posted on here that they got it. When I last renewed my contract, the 1000 minutes/$40 plan wasn't a shared but now it is. Also, it seems that they are giving it away with free AAP. Since one of your contract is up and the other is going to be soon, I would ask for this plan. However, without knowing your history with Sprint (years, on-time payment, etc), it is difficult to say what sprint will give you. 6PM nights you already have so I would think they would give you that. Unlimited text you might have to pay for but it never hurts to ask. If you get shot down on that, ask for 500 text free as 500 text is a lot of text for a month. Vision is the tricky one because it seems that Sprint is more willing to give a reduced vision, rather than free as they used to do.
All I can say is that if you don't ask, you'll never know. Also, ask with a purpose and a problem. If you present yourself as somebody with a problem, Sprint is more willing to help. Also, Sprint does log everytime you call in so don't call in 20 times in a day. It might take 10 calls over the course of a week to get a rep to get you the plan you want

In the end this was kind of what I did..my plan is in my signature. I told the rep that I was either going to port out or cancel my lines and go for SERO. I ended up with 4 lines sharing 1500 minutes (500 less than sero for four lines but shared) for 120, and I kept my 5% MRC on the primary and 25% discount. The only material difference between what I have and SERO is 500msg for free vs unlimited.
The most texts I've ever used in a month is 50. And I get to keep referring people to Sprint..which has made me some money thus far.

I would rather pay for a bigger plan than get crushed for going over.
