I've heard of it, but never tried. I'll try it now.

Oh right, I remember this now. they don't have much support for sanyo's, only the Katana and the 8400

I was able to download via phone(Motorola razr 3vm) but when I got a "untrusted site" message, I bailed out. Not worth the risk for me!

I don't think I've ever gotten anything BUT the "Untrusted site" message when downloading a non Sprint application, ringtone, screensaver, etc.

If anyone DOES get it to work, remember it is advertising supported, so you are probably going to get a whole pot full of advertising on your phone... Enjoy! (I have TeleNav and MGMaps on my Sanyo - one to do the voice nav bit, the other to get satellite shots of my location. TeleNav is $10/month, MGMaps is free.)

Mobile GMaps - The only GPS app I've gotten to work on my Sammie A900

I have no clue where I found it, so you're unfortunatelly on your own there. If you're on a A900 or similar, you'll probably have to modify your profile with QPST>EFS Explorer to allow GPS/Location service access to non-sprint apps.

The app works, it's sorta beta-stage looking, but it does track my location quite good. It'll get a very accurate lock when I'm inside my house, walking around outside. Though the GPS tracking is very glitchy and jumpy while driving, even if it maintains a good accurate lock, there's still a significant (5-35sec) delay to deal with. I think it tries to use AGPS and it just can't keep up between doing the triangulation and pulling down map data. I could be wrong on AGPS part
the good: it works, multiple map options, satelite, hybrid, maps, GPS, etc.
the bad: it's not great unless you've got some patience.

Sorry Tom, I think I was posting while being a zombie. 5:35AM. At least I was on topic. :D

I'm using my phone and every time I try to download mgmaps I get an error message.

I know I had problems getting it, I had to search for alternate download link. I remember the link from their web site, or some advertised web-site link never worked. I was determined to download it, and I eventually did. Do some searching on google with your phone, you'll eventually find another usable download link. If anything, I guess I could maybe offload the jar/jad off my phone for everyone here to DL off of rapidshare or some other site.

LMK if interested, I'd give it a shot, and if that is legal to do so in the forums, though it is a free app...

If you spend some time on MG Maps' forum, you will quickly realize that it can be somewhat complicated getting it to work on a Sprint phone - many people end up having to either give themselves developer access to their device or hack the permissions file. I was able to get it to work giving myself developer access permission.

Amazegps is WAY beta at this point (whether they would describe it that way or not). I'm not sure they've done all the leg work that MG Map's developer has done to try to gain access to Sprint's GPS services. Sprint does not make it easy.

signing up at developer.sprint.com isnt very hard, after doing that mgmaps installs fine.

Tomas

Yeah, I got dev access for myself, and then made sure my phone knew about it. After that MGMaps loaded and worked just fine.
