Just bought my daughter a Katana II for holiday. Can anyone tell me what cable this phone uses to connect with my laptop? I previously had only Samsungs so I'm unclear what the requirements are for this brand.
Thanks in advance for your help as I can't seem to get her to hand over the phone for my inspection:haha:

I just bought one on E-bay for like $7. Cheap but without a driver so for the moment it's just useful for charging my phone.
I just got it tonight and I've not had more that a few minutes to fool with it so far. though I know there is only limited things that you can transfer with any cable on the katana s
I'm looking for a vista or compatable driver if anyone knows of one and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks, I ordered one from Ebay. I use Susteen so the drivers should be included with the program. Did you try the Spring PCS web site? That's where I got drivers for my Samsung.

I downloaded the minpim software. it shows an auto connect attempt without success.
I may have to read the faq and see if i'm missing something. lmk how it goes for you when you get your cable.

You can download the Sanyo drivers from the Sprint website. The driver there DOES work with Vista.
Sanyo uses 1 cable for all phones so the Katana cable fits the 8400, etc.

While i haven't tried a katana II yet. I do know that there is no way to upload pix, wallpapers or ringtones directly from a pc to a katana, and the II isn't much different. You are just gonna have to use a vision plan to do that. I downloaded the contents of my phone with a cable and bitpim last week. it clearly indicates that you can only upload contact and calender data back to the phone.

According to the Datapilot site, the software will only read/write contacts & calendar entries. It will pull imgs but can't upload them.
Strange but there are free uploaders that you can use to send ringtones to your phone.

Sorry. You can upload ringtones via text message. so you don't have to have a vision plan for that.
it's not really different for me as a single text kicks in vision ($15) and text ($5) and per message at ($0.15).

I have a ringtone on my krzr and want it on my katana II. Can you explain how to text the ringtone? Thanks!

Bitpim doesn't allow ringtone transfer yet, if ever...
What I am doing with my katana right now is using www.funformobile.com
I set up a free account on my home computer and activated my "funblog" I then sent some ringtones to my site (find the uploader to your personal albums NOT the text messenger uploader). I then go to the mobile web at the website for your funblog you give. You can then access your albums of different content and download from there.
I tried the focus updater here, but never got a text and funformobiles text uploader got me a text message, but sent me to a "File not found" The other way has been more reliable and in the end only costs me casual data and no text message fee. If I keep my ringers and desktops small, casual data shouldn't be too bad to get an initial setup.
I'd prefer "completely free" via bitpim, but I don't do too many ringers day to day, I just need to get an initial supply.
Volume is a strange issue though, they can sound pretty quiet on the Katana.
Check the compatible files. Sounds like it's just midi, AAC, and QCP for the katana, no MP3.
