so here's what i have, i still have some time till i really need to worry about it, but wondering what the possibilities are
i definitely don't want to pay more, or lose anything i have, but then, i don't really need anything more than i already have
obviously i'm going to run out of plain vision phones, and have to go with an evdo at some point

Free & Clear Plan 1000- $40.0
Plan Features:
$40.00 Free & Clear Plan
1000 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes
Nights: M-Th 8PM-7AM Wknd: F 8PM-M 7AM
Unlimited 2way messaging $5
Sprint unlimited vision pack $10
Equipment protection $7
F&F America roaming $5
Unlimited mobile to mobile
PCS Picturemail included
5% MRC DISCOUNT
7-7 unlimited $5
$5 7-7 unlimted credit
various other small service creditsExpires 10/03/2008

so basically, keep what i have feature wise, maybe getting the price knocked down some and/or switching to pv when i need to upgrade phone and theres nothing good left in regular vision
thanks in advance for any info/suggestions

actually now looking at my bill, i should be getting a credit for that f&f roaming because when retention offered it too me last year she said it would be free....:thought:

One thing that you should definetley get is 7 PM nights. This is pretty much standard on all the new plans so you should have no problem getting it.

Oh my bad. I just looked above and saw that it said 8 PM. I see what you mean by 7-7 now.

That's a pretty good plan. I agree the only thing that sticks out is the $5 roaming charge which you probably should be able to get taken off or credited back through an offsetting recurring $5 monthly credit.

well there should be a credit for it, the gal in retentions back when offered it to me for free, it must have gotten dicked up like my 7to7 credit did that i had to call and get fixed a few weeks ago

Opinion: You have a good plan, dont change it. If you want something diffrent, change it. Dont try to figure and plot and hand wring about what they will give you for free.

A current plan not quite as good (not to mention not F&F) would run you 90 bucks, and youre wondering if you can "do better than 55".... Id say youre already one up on 90% of customers, dont piddle with anything.

I would call in and try to get Sprint to Mobile (also known as Pick 3) added for free.

sprint to mobile? whats that do?
and i guess i'm not trying to get anything free
just don't want to lose what i have if i have to switch to powervision (not that i care about tv/radio or any of that) at some point in the future in case those are the only phones available

I agree that you have a very nice plan. I wouldn't change anything unless you just absolutely need to have something changed.

Yeah, I think it looks good too.

I get a hefty corporate discount. W/o it I would switch to another carrier.

That is one thing that is nice about Sprint. I don't know if there are any other carriers that do the corporate discount thing or not. I guess you could always call and check though. I get a 15% discount I think for where I work. It may be more but I don't recall.

I get 25% off the total. We're supposed to use the corporate sales channels and a 'special' website for phone models but no one does - they're mostly discontinued models anyway. We get other lesser discounts to other carriers as well but nothing like the discount for Sprint.

well i'm glad to hear my 1+year old plan is good lol

so i guess it boils down to this, what do you retention experts think the odds are that after my contract terminates (mid fall) of keeping everything i have as is, except switching to powervision (again, assuming i can't find a decent regular vision phone i like at that point in time) including the unlimited web, text/pic/media messaging? and the rest of the goodies i have at no more than i'm paying now?
thanks again for everyones input, past and future

I'm not an expert here, but it is hard for anyone to look that far out and give you an accurate answer.

Your plan is pretty good. The things on your plan that are pretty good is the Unlimited Text Messaging for $5 and Data for $10. With the current retentions offerings, it is likely they can change your $10 Vision Retention Plan to the $10 Power Vision Retention Plan. Looking 10 months out, it is hard to say what offers may be available.

I believe there is a newer 1000 minute plan available that includes 7 PM Nights & Weekends by default instead of having to add the 7PM N&W option on for $5 and then issue a $5 N&W Credit (which usually expires). I believe the same new plan also includes Unlimited Roaming by default to match current consumer PowerPack plans. Your 5% MRC Credit along with any other *retention* credits usually expire after one year or at the conclusion of your contract depending how they are added on the account.

ok, thats good info
yeah i suppose i'm getting a little ahead of myself i just remember reading awhlie back somewhere that when folks went to upgrade their phones that sprint on changing to powervision was wanting to alter the plans drastically and losing whatever they had negotiated previously

That has been the case with some of the grandfathered plans that included vision and unlimited text messaging as part of the plan. When they upgraded to powervision, they lost their grandfathered vision and unlimited text messaging. To get the same thing back with powervision, Sprint would have had them pay an additional $30 per line ($15 PV / $15 Unlimited Text). That is where *retentions* came in to save the day. Account Services (aka Retentions) helped many of the affected customers by adding service credits and lower price unlimited text and vision plans to accounts in order not to loose customers.

When are you eligible to upgrade?

When you are looking to upgrade you could always give Account Services a call and just ask them what can be done. You don't want to loose what you have going, but you want to move onto a newer handset that offers more multimedia features. Get a new handset, change your plan all at once, and sign a new two year.
