View Full Version : Good Experience at Store w/ e-Bay Phone

My wife bought an LX160 for me for Christmas to replace my dying A820, which was on a third line, that I use specifically for work purposes.

Well, she's never bought a phone off of e-bay and forgot to check the ESN before she bought it. She got the phone and I got it on Sunday, only to find not only was it still on someone's account, but that account was still active and functioning. I thought about running up the bill by calling several 900 phone sex numbers, but decided to be nice.

I took it to the Sprint store on Christmas Eve to see if there was anything they could do. I expected the worst, but received the best. I explained to the CSR exactly what had happened. I told her my wife felt really bad because she thought she had bought a $50.00 paper weight. I asked the CSR if there was anything we could do, including a full swap, putting the other phone number onto my old phone.

She took my LX160, and 5 minutes later handed it back to me and said, "Here you go". No activation/switching fee, did not put the other number on my old phone. My new LX160 was setup and functioning perfectly on my account. Now I can take my A820 to the range and shoot it. :headbang2

I was very happy with the service. They were friendly, understanding, and easy to work with. This is one of many positive experiences I've had at my local store (1600 S State, Orem for you Utahns), but by far the best. I thought it worthy of sharing.

wow...that's great! glad to hear a positive story about a sprint store (i've only had bad ones LOL). it's strange though, if it was active on someone else's account that they were able to switch it to yours...cool though!

Seems like the Rep did something against policy. I hope that phone isn't reported lost/stolen. That would create trouble for both you and that Rep.

Good for you since you have a working phone. As stated above, poor performance by the rep as you can't just remove a phone from a customers account without the customers consent.

I really hope the customer that had the phone is not a very causual usage person that has no idea their phone was sold on ebay or that the phone was removed from their account.

It is very possible that the old phone owner is not even aware that the phone is missing.
