Hi guys,
I am new here so be easy on me. I have been with sprint for about 5 years and have had this plan for quite awhile. However all the newer plans are requiring i switch to an evdo plan. As you can see none of the plans offered come close in price, and all i use the data for is to check teh weather and quick email updates so speed is not an issue. Do you guys have an alternatives for me (including switching to another carrier if necessary)

Thanks in advance. My plan is listed below. :1zhelp:

Yea, you have two otions:

1. Pay the Mogul's price, less $150...full price that is...and keep your current plan. New For You should let you upgrade like this without changing plans. Or just grab the hone off of eBay for a little more and do the same thing.
2. Get Sprint's SERO plan. You'll be paying $15 more per month but will get 500 more minutes and all the features you have now. Plus a cheaper Mogul. Retentions may be helpful in getting you SERO and the Mogul as if you were a new customer, what with you being a long-standing customer right now.

Of course, the upgrade stuff assumes you haven't upgraded your phone in 22+ months...

Its much easier to do the EVDO phone upgrade without plan change if you dont live in an EVDO area. :D

However, if you do reside in an EVDO area, my suggestions would be to either:

Complete a "New for You" transaction at a third party retailer, such as Radio Shack. When the rep calls in, they can have it done as a simple ESN swap without plan change. The discounts and such are applied instantly in store if you qualify. If the CSR the store rep connects with wont do it, have the store rep hang up and try again. Thats how I moved from my 4900 to my 9000 without losing my grandfathered vision package.

-or-

Buy the phone outright, on eBay or the like.. and do the same thing, but by yourself. Call CS and insist on a simple "ESN Swap without plan change"... say it exactly like in the quotes. Might take two reps to get one that'll play ball, but it can be done. :tu:

I'm going to have to do something similar...

The wife and I have the same package but for $100, 2000 shared minutes, free phone to phone, I have unlimited txt, she has 100, and we both have unlimited web access.

I pay around $112 with taxes, and $18 corporate discount.

Switching to anything similar would cost me much more.

Is anyone on the old "vision" plan being charged for "power vision" usage?

Just a thought here, but data is just data so Sprint shouldn't charge differently for Power Vision than they do for Vision. But if you want to make sure, I'll bet a registry entry on the Mogul, when changed...or maybe an EPST setting, will force 1xRTT data, which will solve your problem.

Other than that, you know about SERO right? Last time I checked they had unlimited text, pix messaging and web. And 1250 minutes of voice can be had for $50 a month. M2M and nights\weekends starting at 7 are free. Might work for you...retentions should be able to help on this one ;)

Hi. Brand new today too, just to reply to you.

You and I have the EXACT same plan and I had the same challenge. Here's what you need to do. I called and told my rep that I was cancelling and they (of course) transferred me to the retention department.

I told the retention rep that I loved (and appreciated) my old Sprint rateplan but that it really bothered me that I had to upgrade to the newer power vision plans JUST to upgrade my phone. I told her what I used Vision for (same as you) and that I didn't need all the "power" features and that I would rather cancel and switch to T-Mobile where I could get less (but enough) minutes and an unlimited data plan including wifi for less than $85.

They allowed me to upgrade to Power Vision and I kept my old rate plan with EVERY SINGLE feature for the same money. Furthermore, they added a 10% loyalty discount PLUS changed my night and weekend minutes back from 9pm to 7pm (for $5) and then apply a $5 credit each month to offset.

All you really need to do is be honest. You'll read posts on some sites that tell you to threaten to leave and such and I'm saying you should call them and tell them you'd RATHER leave, but that you prefer Sprint.

As an alternative... with the new fees that went in to effect on 12-31, any Sprint customer that is affected can cancel their line w/o the ETF after the fees first appear on their bill.

Sprint works fine for me, and as you know, our rate plan cannot be matched within $50 on any other carrier and nobody offeres free, unlimited data like we got with our 2000 minute plans. The only one that comes close (for me) for about 1500 minutes and that's only because I don't need 2000 minutes - I just keep it because (a) the price is acceptable and (2) I don't like monitoring my usage.

Good Luck!
