Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I just got my Sanyo S1 and I have a quick question. Is it possible for me to chop up my own mp3 song to turn into a ringtone, then upload it to my phone? Or am I forced to pick from the crappy selecting on the sprintpcs website?

The guy I bought the phone from said that I should be able to do it, but i read in a review of the phone that the mini USB connection is for charging the phone only and does not support data transfers.

If anyone can shed some light on this for me I would greatly appreciate it. If I can't do this i'm just going to return the phone.

you can edit the file and upload it using either the focus tool here, rumkin.com or funformobile.com to then upload the ringer to your phone

just make sure you have a data plan

it probably only takes .qcp files, being a non-media phone.
but you can upload those files to it as Brett described.

j2kninek is correct it only supports midi or qcp ringtones

http://developer.sprint.com/view_devices.do?device=79529

with a max size of 128kb like most non-multimedia sprint devices

Guess he did indeed lie to me. Or he was just stupid and selling things he didn't really know much about. This would be the 3rd sprint sales person who is either ignorant or a liar. Thanks for the info guys.
