Is there any way to make the DLX use an MP3 on the SD card as a ringtone?
If not is there anyway I can format an mp3 into a file that the DLX can use as a ringtone from the SD card? I don't have a data plan so uploading and sending a ringtone with this site's Focus is something I'd like to avoid.

Thank in advance.

IDK if Bitpim works for the DLX yet, but you can try it.

Download Super C converter to convert the mp3 to .aac

Ok thanks, I've actually found away around the block on using mp3s as ringtones by just making a wmv file with a black backround using windows movie maker and then converting that to a 3g2 file since the DLX actually allows them to be used as ringtones.

If Bitpim is easier then I'll definately use that.

I'm new to the SD card thing on the phone.
How can I get the audio file from the card to the phone.
What format should or could it be qcp, mp3?
Looking for step by step instructions.
Thanks.

I followed the instructions and was able to create a video ringtone. A couple of questions:

1. Once made it as a ringtone, the file shows up in "Assigned Media". However, is there any way to delete it?

2. When the phone rings, I would see the blank video, which obviously does not look too exciting. Is this a weakness we would have to live with?

Thx!

How did you get around it? I also want to transfer ringtones to DLX without data charges?

djim, as I stated in the actual faq thread for the DLX, the only way to get them onto your phone is via text message- and even that is only if you have unlimited text msgs. There is the workaround mentioned above, however it is very tedious, and you'll basically be making video ringers (which take up tons of space). My suggestion is to just get unlimited texting, and use a free uploader to send your ringers via text msg. :)

Hope this helps!

Well, if you delete it, you'll lose the ringer and basically defeat the purpose of creating it in the first place. Will you have to live with the blank video? If you want to continue doing it that way, yes. When you create the video ringer, both sound and video are merged into the same file.

bitpim does not (as of yet) support the DLX (though it may at any time). Having vision and unlimited texting is the best way to get custom ringers onto your phone without having to pay (per download). The cost may seem like a lot, but it really isn't if you create a lot of ringers (like I do).

Hope this helps!

I've used the focus uploader for years after making my own ringtones, but now once I go to the URL in the text, the phone shows some data activity for a few seconds, then screen just goes white.
