First post here, but looking to possibly upgrade to a Q9C for the wife and I. Was looking through the paper and saw the local Best Buy ad and it listed the Q9C for $79.99 for new 2-year line of service, and $129.99 for existing customers when they sign up for another 2-years.
Sounds like a good deal, but not sure if i should try retentions to get them to match the price AND convert me over to SERO. Currently under the an old 2000 Anytime plan and OOC, and upon further analysis, hardly even scratch that. Looking to do the 500 for each line.

Givem a call all they can say is no. They usually will do all they can to keep you so if you dont get what you want at first call back again and talk to someone different. Im saying yes with the SERO plan but not quite sure about the price matching from Best Buy.

I would believe that the SERO plan would be cheaper and I don't believe Sprint will match - or they did not for me when I bought a phone for my daughter this past spring - I went to best Buy and saved $50. This Best Buy deal is only good for existing customers if you have a rebate credit applicable - the one or two year rebate - so the phone would be $205 if you had only a one year rebate. But it is still only $280 with no rebate I assume - which is a good deal.

Common sense must reign here for one quick sec. we here @ Sprint Users are all pretty much smarter than the "average" consumer electronics buyer. That is a fact. Who in this day and age would spend ONE RED CENT @ BEST BUY? I pray for the day that store goes into liquidation. I am saving a special bottle of single malt scotch just for that occasion. I don't hate anything in this world, except for that store...Please, don't shop @ BEST BUY. They could care LESS about their customers. Thank you. Sorry if this belongs in the rants section mods. Please giggle for a second before you move/delete my post because we all know I'm right.

Is it $129.99 if you have not finished up your previous 2 year contract? From the BB website, it is not clear to me. I have been with sprint forever (15 years or something ridiculous) and am only 1 year into my current 2 year stint. based on this...$129.99 for me?
Q. Am I eligible for a contract extension?
A. Not all existing Sprint PCS customers qualify for contract extensions. Sprint sets threshold rules as to who is eligible for a contract extension.
In order to be eligible for our exclusive Sprint PCS contract extension offers:
- You must have maintained continuous service on the existing Sprint PCS phones being upgraded today for the last 22 months
- You must subscribe to a $34.99 or higher Sprint PCS service plan
- Your account must be in good financial standing and without late fees
- You agree to extend your existing contract with Sprint PCS for an additional 24 months
Note that eligibility results may vary based on a variety of conditions including, but not limited to a customer's usage history, payment record, previous phone replacement, etc.

:haha: I guess you must work for Best Buy. Sorry, didn't mean to offend you or cause you to leave a sarcastic post. And more than anything, I was just kidding around (not really, I won't shop there) I just never really thought people went into Best Buy to get a good deal on a Sprint phone but evidently that does happen...
*By the way, the Q9c is FREE @ Best Buy in this weeks ad with a new 2yr agreement. Week starting 12/16 that is.

Just saw that ad. Amazing that they are now just giving them away. Still in a quandry, trying to figure out if i need to try to get onto SERO first, THEN phone with retentions. Or just get the phone at BB or if sprint can match it, and then when activating it try to get onto SERO.

Jay - Without knowing exactly what type of plan you want, I would say that getting SERO would be MUCH more important to you than getting a Q9c for free or at a discount (from a $ p.o.v.).
I got SERO the weekend the Q9c came out, ordered and activated online, never had to deal with any CSRs (literally, not a single stupid human obstacle the entire way), and after rebates my Q9c was $149, and I got $25 off my first 2 months with a checkout code. $5/month for the first 2 months (yes, $5/month, I am staring at my first bill as I type this), $30/month after that. So basically that means I got my phone for $99 (counting the $50 off in the first 2 months) and $30 a month. And that is unlimited Data, and unlimited Texts (although I believe the unlimited text may be ending soon), 500 mins/month (I'm sure everyone on here already knew that, just reiterating the ridiculousness of it). IF you can start from scratch (no existing plan), SERO is simple, and the Q9c is very reasonable.
Where are you now in your contract? From what I understand, it is very, VERY difficult to get moved to SERO once you activate under another plan. I don't have any experience with that, this is all anecdotal, but I have read this multiple times (for a great source about SERO, go to FatWallet and search for SERO; a lifetime's worth of info). If you are near the end, I would think you definitely want to drop the old plan and get SERO. In fact, even if you have to pay to get out of your current plan and into SERO, that might be worth it. Depends on what you are paying now. But know that Sprint generally does NOT like to price match...although as with any corporation, that are generous CSRs that are exceptions to the rule.
Sorry this turned into a SERO rant... Bottom line, I love my Q9c, and would definitely recommend it (assuming you want more than just a phone). But as far as renewing and looking for a discount in your particular situation, it depends on what you are looking for and where you are in your contract. Just know that if you lock into another contract for another 2 years in order to get the Q9c at a discount, you will almost certainly NOT be able to get Sprint to change you to a SERO plan. Starting from SERO from scratch though, you can get a great plan and a Q9c at a reasonable price.

hey im confusd, im in zip 33625, yesterday I looked and the old Q was some price and the new Q was free with new service, and that note about "qualified accnts" for I think like $150, anyway is it possible that there is some option for a line that is not eligable for any rebate to buy this phone at a discount? like if its free for a new line I could buy it for $150?
its confusing and I hate asking sales people about stuff cuz I end up frustrated and mad and I dont even need a new phone im just curious. (and a bit of a phone whore)

My understaning is that if you have no qualifying rebates, then you will pay full price for the Q9c at BB.

Is it possible to get the new customer price from BB along with SERO? For a new customer of course.

ok well bestbuy had the q9c on special for free w/new line, I called retentions to ask how much is ETF thinking it might be prorated (not) and it is $200 etf, i was thinking free phone+$200 etf=$200 phone and thats not to bad, well an awesome retentions rep says "what if i make the line you were gonna cancel a free AAP?" hhmmm so I went to BB and picked up the Q9, I had to act fast cuz the special ended that night, so im trying to do the math and figure out if its a good idea to keep it, so my bill is -$10 no matter what, -$10PV when i drop it off the old line, text is/was free, the new AAP is +$10AAP,+$15PV,+$7tep,+$5txt... i was hoping to change the numbers and get the $10PV and free texts over to the new phone. will this all work or should I take this back and enjoy my $10 discount...my bill is already silly cheap for 4 lines... this phone is fun but I dont know if i love it.
