My Muziq started acting like, well, a typical LG phone after 60 days and getting really buggy. I had that phone on my second line. Gave it to a girlfriend of mine who just loved the thing, bugs and all. Put second line in suspension with Sprint (didn't need it anyway). So, hence no active second line. Called Sprint about my account (billing issue), CSR asked why I had no activity on my 2nd line and if there was a problem. I said yeah, I had a junky phone on it and I couldn't tolerate it any longer (didn't have TEP on that #). Sprint CSR offered me a Q9c for $100, no rebate allowed. I couldn't bust out my credit card fast enough. I asked for NOTHING. Convo went just as I stated. Needless to say, I'm happy about it.:hee:

Thanks man. I must admit, I was shocked. I thought only retentions could make those kind of offers. Maybe that's what dept. I reached by accident. I don't remember now. But still, a Q9c for $100? I don't care how crappy of a phone it ends up being (I have TEP on that #). I even checked to make sure they didn't "extend" my contract. Nope, Sprint played fair. Sweet...:D

Here's my story. I bought a Q in Feb and last month my battery started getting really bad. I couldn't last a full day. I went into Sprint and they said they wouldn't deal with battery issues because I din't have TEP but they told me to call in to customer service. When I did, I told the woman my issues and she said she couldn't replace a battery but she new a dept that could help me so she transfered me to retentions. I retold my story and he told me he couldn't replace the battery but he would just replace my phone instead as a warranty exchange. When I told him I didn't want a refurbished phone, he told me not to worry, that I was getting a new one. I asked a new Q? He said, "No sir. A Q9c." I didn't have to pay a dime or extend my contract! I did however have to return my old phone but who cares!

I really wonder how these random deals just "happen" to some customers and others don't get a thing or any good offers @ all? This is NOT a good way of doing business. I mean, it's good for US (those of us that score a deal), but wouldn't Sprint be losing money this way? I thought they LOST money on each phone even @ full retail cost. I'm confused...:icon_smil

no they make money at full retail, they lose money on discount devices, in my case all i did was ask how much a Q9C would be if there were any promos on it currently, i said im looking to replace my ailing a900m, they offered to swap me out and there was no question for me i took the offer

I emailed about my frustrations with the Mogul and how after 3 ROM updates they still haven't gotten it close to right. Outlined some other issues I have with it and asked what the possibility was of getting a different phone. No questions asked they sent me a link to the phones page and told me to pick whatever I wanted and I would pay or get a refund for any difference. The Mogul is the most expensive handset they have, so I'm getting $100 credit with my new Q9c that's been shipped now.

Anywhere from 30 minutes to 12 hours... I went back and forth with them for a few days. I had a Mogul which had all sorts of issues (I was on my 3rd one, with the 4th ordered), and they switched me to a touch as if I was under 30 days (so I made $50 on the deal). I emailed them back after a week of using the Touch and told them I was not happy with it only because I text to much, they offered me a Q9 at $149.99 (no extension, verified) and I think they let me keep the Touch as they never said I had to send it back...

Did you get the "auto-acknowledgement" reply email that they received your inquiry? If you did not get this (typically within an hour of submitting something to eCare), they did not get your request. I always type my note off line and then cut and paste it in the web form. The web will time out if you take too long to type and submit and not tell you.

I've been trying to get a Q9c to replace my Q but have failed in 3 attempts to call retentions. They always say the same thing which is that because I got my Q through retentions less than a year ago, and because I got my Q way before my 2 year contract was up, they can't do ANYTHING to help me.
Is there anyone who got their Q through retentions and then successfully got the Q9c the same way? I argued with several reps for hours about this...the Q is a crappy phone (battery etc. you guys know why) and I just want to replace it with something that can live out my contract. BTW, I've been with Sprint for over 15 years...

e-mail ecare say your inquiring to see if there is any promotions on the Q9C and the reason you are asking is because your motorola Q is not working very well and you would like to upgrade because of the faulty Q but cant afford to pay full price for the Q9C thats how i got my deal for trading my a900m in the Q9C

My quick story. Have been talking with CS and retentions for the last week. Changing plans, adding lines, buying phones. Kept mentioning my Q and the batter performance. Last night, got a retentions rep that got the Q9c for $149. I know other have done better but I have upgraded my handset 3 times now within the last 14 months. Only thing I asked if anything was possible as far as taking care of the Q I currently have. Rep busted out with the offer on his own, I didn't even ask about it.
Two things worked in my favor I think: 1- Same CS rep kept calling me back during the port process to make sure things were set right. I kept talking about my current Q during those calls. 2- That same CS rep called retentions for me, called me back and transfered me in. When she spoke to retentions, I think she had to put in the good word for me. I guess actually a 3rd thing would be I killed them with kindness. Politeness works wonders with them.

See above. A little out of the ordinary. Kindness is the best advice I can give. Went through retentions multiple times within the last 14 months. Phone wise, went from Sanyo-MM7400 to A900 to Q to Q9c. It can be done.

We've had our q's (wife and I) for about 8 months and they have both been having charging and sync issues. Normal sprint support said I was sol and I should buy a new phone (since we didn't have insurance), or call Motorola. Motorola said hardware problems, send in units and be without cells for 10-14 days. Called back spint and again was told I was SOL, asked for retentions, did a quick 1 minute explanation of my calls and asked if we could get replacement q's (meaning old q's)... Operator said sure, how would you like me to send out two new Q9's. I had to say yes to that :)
$0 out the door for two new Q9's and no contract extension. I also got the old Q's from retentions (along with keeping my old plan and getting the upgrade to evdo for -$10 for the two). Before the Q's we both had treo 600's that lasted less then a year and were a retention deals. I've gotten numerous deals from retentions over the years and your best bet is to act flustered, but also act like your thier best friend and they are the only person in the world that can help you.

Yes, they do. I emailed them on Wednesday and got a conformation in less than 15 minutes.
Then I went back and forth with eCare. They have offered to give me $150 off retail (double my one year rebate). But at $300, it is still too expensive. I am going to ask once more for a better price and see what happens.

called retention today my old samsung's hinge had snapped. I was looking for a blackberry pearl but did not want to pay for it or the data service. First offer was 149 for the Pearl and a 10 dollar discount on the data plan. I mentioned if I had to add a 30.00 data plan I might as well buy and Iphone and get what I like. She suggested if I would look at any other WM or Palm she could work something out. I mentioned I had considered the C9. She put me on hold and came back saying she could send me the q9 for free. and would give me power vision for 10 dollars and a 10 dollar credit when I questioned my old 2000 minute plan was supposed to have unlimited text and internet. I just needed to reup for 2 years. I tried to get them to let me pick it up locally but too get it for free they would have to send it to me. Not bad. I mentioned my wifes old phone and they threw in a motorola v3m.

I emailed eCare to get the deal on my Q9c. I told them my Samsung A920 was having "old age issues" and that I was losing service when I used my phone for awhile throughout the day. I was about 17 months into my 24 month contract from which I got the A920 for free from retentions off of a Samsung A840. I told them I didn't think the phone would make it through to the 24 months. I told them I was looking at either the Blackbery 8830 or the Q9c. They came back with and offer I couldn't possibly turn down: $150 upgrade credit for 2 yr contract (I wouldv;e done this anyway in April to stay with my cheap ass SERO plan) AND $180 for my old Samsung A920. Additionally the Q9c has a $100 credit for until 1/18/08. I was charged retail price for the the phone so the deal came out to 449.99 - $150 (upgrade) - 179.99 (A920) - $100.00 (MIR) = $20.00. Definitely a slickdeal

My experience wasn't with eCare/retentions... I walked into my local Sprint store at the mall and as soon as I was greeted I asked...
"Is there anything you can work out for a victim of the Q who isn't past the 22 months but wishes to replace it with a new Q9c?"
The rep laughed and told me he was sure he could work something out...
It went like this... They activated a 3rd line on my account so I would qualify for all the current discounts (including the $100 MIR, so $149 total for the phone), which is standard procedure...however..he added an additional discount (I currently have a corporate discount in place) to offset the $9.99/mo extra for the 3rd line. :)
He also swapped my main line with it so my Q9c is on my primary, as I had intended (at no charge).
So I got the phone for $149, a third line, and it is not costing me a penny month each month.
It helps to get the right person to listen to you and help. :)

I was originally going to purchase a Treo 700wx on craigslist for cheap. I decided to call general sales a see what they could do. They wanted over $300 for any popular PDA. I mentioned that I sent an email to E-care and they responded that I am eligable for the $150 discount. (although I was not) They fought with me for a while and ended up offering me the Q9c for $289 delivered next day with a $100 mail in rebate. (189 total)
Not bad, considering I was going to pay $150 for a never used refurbished 700wx. At least I still get the 30 money back trial, and will likely purchase the ERP.
Can't wait to start messing the Q9c up!

There was no rebate form included with the phone, I called and asked about it and they told me to go to a Sprint store and get a rebate form there. Sounds iffy to me, what do you guys think? If I don't get the rebate, this phone is going back (not worth almost $300)

I called retention. Now mind you, I have been with Sprint for 10 years and my bill is over $200/month, and I am eligible for a new phone in May anyway, so I am someone I assume they like to keep around.
I talked to the rep and told him I was getting ready to need a third battery for my Fusic, and instead of replacing it a third time, I would just like to get a new phone. I told him I was interested in a qwerty phone that has all of the bells and whistles that my Fusic has.
I told him I was looking at the Rumor but that it didn't have EV-DO, which he conceded they were disappointed about, so I suggest the Moto Q9c since it had everything I was looking for. After being gone for a couple of minutes, he came back and said he could give me the full $150 credit I would be eligible for in May, but that I couldn't get the additional rebate, which still put the price at $300.
I have set a price that is acceptable to pay to have this phone, but that ain't it, so I guess I will have to wait a little longer. Who knows, maybe something even shinier will come out between now and May, but I really wanted this phone, and I am pretty disappointed with retention based on all of the stories on here.

Yes, you get the $150.00 off the price of the phone, which is $449.00 plus a mail in rebate of $100.00 make price about $200.00.
Then they offered 50 dollars if I send them my Samsung A900.
Is there someone else I can email to get a better deal? I signed a 2 year agreement just a short while ago when I switched to Sero...but I still have my 150 dollars off for a new phone.

No you aren't screwed. You just need to be persistent. Call again and see what else they offer you. Tell them your bluetooth doesn't work as well as you like and get lots of static, etc... Then mention how you saw this really cool phone at carrier X, great features, touch screen, etc... (It helps if you actually research another carrier) Tell them you'd hate to leave Sprint but they are offering you blank. Then ask, "What can you do for me since I have been such a loyal customer? I saw you have this new phone called the q9c. It has similar features to the phone carrier X has." If you don't like what they offer, just politely tell them you'll have to think about it, hang up and try again. I've got new free phones many times all with fairly new contracts. I've used this technique to get the folloeing free over the past two years. A900, RAZR, KRZR, Q and then Q9C. It works.

Okay, just had an interesting (and positive) experience with CS. I called retention before the end of the year trying to get a new Moto Q9c, even though I was only eligible for the $75 credit. All they could do at that time was give me the $150 credit, but no rebate, so the cost would have been $300.
I called CS today and told them my Fusic's battery was giving me problems (which it is). She sent me to telesales (not retention), and the telesales person asked what kind of phone I was looking for, and I told her I wanted a new phone with bluetooth, EVDO and qwerty key pad. She asked me to wait, and then came back and asked what phone I wanted, and I told her the Moto Q9c, and she asked me to wait while she talked to the national office.
She came back and said I could get the phone for $149 ($249 plus the $100 rebate). I never had to threaten them, and they never sent me to retention. I am at a loss. It's never been this easy, because like I said, I talked to retention just last month and they were not close to giving me this deal. I can only guess that because of the ability to cancel my account without an ETF until the end of the month, they were more willing to work with me, without even having to go through retention.
I have been a customer for 10 years with a high personal bill (>$200), so that may have been in my favor as well, but I didn't think it would go so smoothly, but I am a happy customer. Today anyway. :hee:

First post here.
After having some issues with the upgrade eligibility with my account and on the website, I finally just called retentions because I knew they are the only ones that actually get anything done. I spoke with a lady and she was very friendly. Assured me that I was eligible and then helped me order the phone. At first she said she could get it for $250, but I said that was still too high. So she applied a $120 "service" credit and also said I was eligible for a $100 mail in rebate. I asked her if there were any stipulations or any extra plans I had to buy. She flat out said no. So I was going to get the phone for $80. Skeptical, but very pleased.
Then my phone dropped the call. F*ck.
I called back, went straight to retentions and another lady answered. She was also very polite and did everything she could to help me out. Even walked around the building to find the first lady I was talking to. Turns out, the first lady went ahead and placed the order for me. But the second lady said she would take a look at it to make sure it was what I wanted. She found a couple of mistakes. The first was that the "service" charge was just a $5 discount applied every month for 24 months. The second was the mail-in rebate had a stipulation that you had to order a data package of $25 or more every month. She apologized for the first lady's mistakes and reassured me that she could get me something better. Said the lowest she can go on the phone was $150, with no mail-in rebate. After explaining the first lady's mistakes, which would have cost me more money, I was very pleased at what she offered me. Then she even knocked $5 off of my current unlimited text messages, gave me the power vision access pack for $10, and another $5 recurring credit each month for as long as I have service with Sprint. Needless to say I was very happy and agreed to sign on for another 2 years.
So now I have 1000 anytime minutes, nights starting at 7pm, no roaming charges, unlimited text messaging, power vision, and sprint to sprint for free all for $65. Not too shabby! I'm definitely a happy customer.

I got my Q9c tonight. I received $300 off the phone. I am going to try to send in the $100 rebate and also CS told me I am getting the $70 credit for the upgrade. I think I did ok...

I went back and forth with e-care a few times -- first they offered me the $75 rebate I'm eligible for, then they doubled that to $150 and then they made it $200, which would have brought the Q9c down to $250. I still didn't want to pay that much AND extend my contract another 2 years, when I could pay the same on eBay and not extend my contract (which I of course pointed out to them). I would have fought with them some more, but I decided to go the eBay route, esp since I'm planning on getting another phone by the end of the year.

i had a whole bunch of problems when i initially started up with sprint. in the end, i ended up returning my free phone (m500), and got the q9c reduced to 174.99. the guy at executive services gave me a service credit for $75 and the mail in rebate for $100, meaning the phone is free! after all that, i ended up with a balance credit of about 300 bucks so no phone bill for about ten months!

Hey all. I thought I would share, finally, my success with Sprint. My Q was having so many problems: freezing randomly, about twice a week, beeping at midnight EVERY single night, dropping calls all over the place, repeating letters just about every other word when I was texting, not charging even though it was plugged in all night (leaving me with a brick at work pretty consistently), and, interestingly, on New Year's Eve, the camera on the phone started to freeze the phone whenever it was activated. finally, in fact, when the phone did reboot, the camera icon had completely disappeared from the pictures and video menu and pressing the camera button on the phone itself just froze the phone or brought up a menu that then immediately disappeared. In fact, I was unable to take pictures all new years eve. Then, on New Year's Day, the camera started working again, randomly, several hours after I had tried a hard reset (not immediately afterwards, so strange). Then it stopped working again the next day. Needless to say, I had had enough with the Q. I had previously spoken to retentions many times by saying "cancel" when I dialed *2 to no avail (they were actually horribly rude three times and told me to talk to Motorola, a dead end, and had been back and forth with e-care who had only offered me a total of $100 off as I was new in my two year contract, so finally I decided to try my luck at just talking to customer service. I was amazed. I explained my whole story, and how crappy my phone was being, and especially how I had missed very "important" pictures on New Years Eve, and that I was appalled that I was stuck with a phone that was so obviously defective that Motorola had upgraded it within a year of it first coming out, and the woman said "I'll see what I can do". She came back with an offer of selling me a Q9c for $149.99. No strings attached. I did not have to mail back my old phone. No contract extension, no change in plan, nothing. And now I have the Q9c. And I love it. The best phone ever. It has not frozen once yet, and the GPS is the killer app for it for sure. Just thought I would share my success, as I was starting to believe that this whole "getting a new Q9c" from retentions thread was a hoax! Try it yourself, and I wish you luck. Just be persistent (but not so much so that Sprint cancels you!).

I emailed ecare to tell them about the problems I was having with my Q, asking what the price would be to replace the Q with a BB8830. I had a 2yr renewal back in July, so no rebates available. They emailed back that even though I didn't have any rebates available, they would send me the BB for the price difference of $100. I emailed back asking for the Q9c, since the Q and Q9 are the same price from Sprint, and they agreed to send me the Q9 for free with a new 2yr contract (I was only 6 months in anyway), and I have to return the old Q. Fine with me. What makes it even sweeter is that I only paid about $15 for the Q originally. I also just bought a new 4gb mini sd from buy.com for $14.95 after $10.00 google checkout discount, so I'm fat and happy now.

What is the email address for ecare or how do I send them a email? Thanks

Currently have a A900 which is about 1.5 years old. I already get a bunch of MRC discounts, free unlimited text, etc. so I was thinking there was no way they'd cut me a deal on a new phone. A few months away from my renewal date. So I email e-Care with a sob story about my A900 and how I'd love a Q9c, and could take my number with me to another carrier and get it cheaper. So here's what I end up with. A new Q9c for $49.99 AND a 10% monthly discount on service for the "problems" I had been having with my A900. :headbang2
I guess Sprint having recently posted it's largest customer loss quarter in history 4Q 2007 has them really looking to keep the longterm customers they have.

Ecare is replacing my Q with the Q9c after e-mailing them the list of problems I tend to have with my Q. I'm pretty sure they're not renewing my contract either but my Q is under warranty also.

This is my very first post, so be gentle. First of all, I have been a loyal Sprint customer for over 8 years and I can truthfully say that my experiences with them have been mostly positive. Anyway, I was recently laid off from my job and my account was suspended for a past due amount of $250.00. Since I didn't want it sent to collections I called account services and explained my situation. I told the CSR that I wanted to make payment arrangements to get current...anyway this is going to take too long to explain, so I'll try to cut to the chase. The CSR credited my account $200.00 and put me on an old Free & Clear plan to save money..$40.00 w/1000 anytime and 7:00 N&W! I also mentioned that my Krazr was broken and asked what was available cheap. He asked me what I liked and I said the Samsung ip-830...but it was too expensive. HE GAVE me the freaking phone for NOTHING and sent it Next Day Air. This the God's truth! Anyway, being the ungrateful creep I am, I sent it back and used the credit to get the Touch for $150.00.(just got it today) Why did the CSR do what he did? He said that he didn't see very many customers who have stayed as long as I have and it was just their way of saying thanks...and another 2 years! Unbelievable. Sorry for the long post. Thanks.

I did not come out as well as some of you - but I got something. I called retentions last week (7+ years w/Sprint, 3 lines, $110/mo and I have a few freebies), told them my business partner wanted to move to ATT (true - he is thinking about an iPhone) and we have both had problems with the Q - could she help us out? She said they have had no complaints about the Q and to make sure I port my number before I cancel. OK, I am on the "no more favors list" I guess.
Wednesday, I had to pull the battery twice to hang up the phone. I fired off an email to eCare, asked for help, said I was willing to pay something, just not full price. I got $150 on top of the $75 one year upgrade I was eligible for, 10% loyalty discount added and no additional fees. So, I am happy with a new Q9c for $225 - which we are running through our business anyway.

I just exchanged my Q (got it during $99 deal Jan07) for a Touch at no cost back in November. Now I'm getting a Q9C at no cost too. I should be receiving it sometime next week.
***And I've only been with Sprint since OCT 05***
