I assume you mean free programs that work with the *internal GPS*, right?
I'm very interested in finding some more programs, too.

google maps works VERY well with the internal GPS unit...
I have not been able to get Live Search to detect my GPS though... I've tried all the com ports and the "drivers" option and none of them detect the GPS... So, if anyone has info on that it would be great.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to get WLS to use the internal GPS...maybe you need to d/l the newest version??? (wls.live.com)
I've downloaded a LOT of programs (Efficasoft GPS Utilities, gpsVP, Reperion, Smart Navigator, smart2go, trackr!, Virtual Earth Mobile), but only GMM, WLS, & Sprint Navigation are able to use the internal GPS...all the others need an external BT GPS...:(
Is there a registry hack to fake the internal GPS to be on a COM port so other programs can see it? That would be the ultimate hack.

The version of WLS that I am using requires that you specify a COM port for the GPS, maybe thats why Im having issues?

Yes, mine does also. goto Menu, Settings, the 2nd one down is the GPS port. You can click on this and a list will popup, or just scroll right and goto the last item; "gps intermediate driver".

Does anyone know if people have gotten this working with Tom Tom? I have Tom Tom working on my Q now with the external BT. Wondering if I can do it without the external with the Q9C

What version of TomTom do you have? I didn't know TomTom made anything that would run on WM6 Smartphone...

I have tom tom version 6.020 (7980) installed. It is made for touch screen, but works fine on wm5, and presumably 6. I have a little mouse/icon target program that can simulate touchscreen, you just move it over where you would touch, but it is pretty buggy. In order to set up it was nice to have that, but as far as every day functionality you can get around fine without having the touch screen.

OMG-people just think I'm being paranoid...think I've gone crazy...but last month I ate up about 700 MB of data using this free PAM process...and ever since, I've been noticing people following me home from work. They always turn off at the end of my drive-but it's always a black unmarked fed car or something, and last night a red crosshair was moving around on the walls of my room, almost like someone had a red laser light (OR GOD FORBID A RIFLE)---I tuned into the police scanner of my local law enforcement and they kept using the reference of "Code PAM, Code PAM, we've got movement..."---gotta go now, I think I heard the dog barking out back...we live in BFE.............. :(

Could you point me to that "touchscreen/pointer emulator" program you speak of? There's a few apps I could use something like that for...

I'll look for it tomorrow, the site i got it from is down. I do know that it did NOT work very well on the original q, so we'll see how it might work on the q9c.

So Google Maps is free and does what the Sprint Nav program does?

So Google Maps is free and does what the Sprint Nav program does?
Only from a basic perspective does it do the same thing. The Google Maps app is pretty much just what you can only do with a real web browser....with the added assistance of GPS plotting your current location on the displayed map.
The Sprint TeleNAV app is, for lack of a better description, the same thing as a Garmin or a TomTom.....only MUCH MORE dumbed down than those specialized devices. Think of the TeleNAV app as a "minime" version of a Garmin. It's not as a sophisticated as a Garmin but it does much more than Google Maps can do, on the whole.
I hope that helps.

I'm not sure if it is possible or not but is there any program
out there that you could use for geoocaching? not sure how accurate the gps on the q is. also, is there any need to adjust the factory gps settings?

check it man, if you use gpsVP (www.gpsvp.com), you can type in the waypoint coordinates and then navigate to them for your geocaching. there may be another faster way to do it but I haven't messed w/it extensively.
On a side note, gpsVP will only work if GMM or WLS is running at the same time if you want to use the built-in gps.
