I am recently on the market for a new phone (leaving my samsung a920 behind) and am looking to venture into the whole Smartphone scene. I have narrowed down my smartphone choices to the 8830 and the Q9c and am looking for any advice/tips/reviews on either phone or both to make the decision. The factors that I am trying to compare are size, music playback quality/program, specific phone features for each, and the overall phone call quality. If ppl could post their opinions on both handsets, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am VERY happy with my Q9c. I do a LOT of texting/email and the Q9c has the best keyboard I've ever encountered on a smartphone. The call quality and speakerphone are also excellent. I have a 4GB MiniSD card full of music, pics, and videos that work flawlessly with Windows Media Player. I would highly recommend it. I have zero expirience with Blackberry products though, so I cannot compare it for you. Although I have heard that Blackberry's are very good products also and that some people swear by 'em. Sorry if I was little help here...I tried.

Thanks, your opinion was quite useful. Few questions, how is the internet on the 9c? Qualitywise, speed, ability to visit normal websites? And also what type of video format does the media player support? I have a lot of avi files and it would be awesome if i could view them on the Q

The BB is great and all, but if you don't need the BB email or if your work isn't paying for the BB package, get the Q9c. Its just not worth the extra, especially now that the Q9c has GPS too.
Install TCPMP and it'll play DivX AVIs. Smooth.

I had completely forgotten what slick69 just pointed out. Blackberry service does cost extra (I'm not sure exactly how much more). That would def. put the Q9c at an advantage. My internet works great also. There are also quite a few mods to Windows Mobile 6 that have started to appear/will appear soon too. Just watch this forum. The people that post here know more about Sprint phones than most Sprint retail store employees do. Read some of the reviews posted here. Do a search. I'm gong to say in the end, Go with a Q9c. If by chance you are let down you can always return it for a Blackberry.

BB service is $30 a month (or $40 if you need to use a BES, to get at corporate email.)
Honestly, I don't think it's worth the price premium. The Q9 is a pretty awesome handset, but so is the BlackBerry -- but BlackBerrys are so gimped without the add-on data plan that they're not worth it.

I definitely agree w/the previous posters: $30 extra ON TOP of your plan...no thanks. (I already have SERO = unlimited free internet...why would I pay twice as much just to use BB email??!!) That was the deal breaker for me; but the phone does look nice. Since the Q9c has GPS, it's a no-brainer (IMHO).

Teh f%$cked up thing is that the PV plan does nothing on a Blackberry. You have to have the BB add-on to access even a simple WAP site.

Good move Supraman. I think you made a good decision. You'll like the Q9c. I had NO IDEA how much the BB plan was. NO WAY on that! That's erases out SERO plans almost. Crazy...but hey, if you're rich...
