My wife has been with Nextel for the past several years. Her contract ended last month and I'd like to move her to a Sprint SERO 500 plan like mine. I would like to know what is the best route to take to get her switched. We plan to get her a new phone number as part of the switch because she currently has an out-of-area number (from before we were married), so keeping the existing number is not a concern. I'm not very familiar with Nextel, but she said her account was setup at the time under her parents' business account. I don't know if this means the account is in her name or not.
For making the switch, should I:
1. Order a brand new Sprint SERO plan/phone via the www.sprint.com/sero site and then just cancel the existing line? Will she be able to do this with an existing Nextel line?
OR
2. Call Sprint/Nextel and ask them to convert her to a Sprint SERO line with a brand new phone number?
My concern with #1 is that the credit check on her may require her to pay a deposit. Since she's already a customer, I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
I searched through several threads but couldn't find any concrete answers as to the best plan for switching from Nextel to Sprint (when keeping your number is not a concern).
Any suggestions regarding this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
