because they already had to include the extended battery on sprint's stock just to make people happy and get decent battery life. remember gsm uses less battery life than cdma by nature. Imagine how long itd take the battery to die with wifi...

i may be illinformed here but i was at the sprint store the other day messing with the new Q and Wi-Fi is listed in the connections menu. i thought that meant it had it. Also when you go to connection options you can choose secure WAP network, unsecure WAP network, internet, cell service and something else.....Why do they have that stuff in the menus if the phone doesn't have wi-fi?

For add on cards and such. It's standard on all WM devices for several years now. They include drivers in case you add a wifi-enabled card of some sort.
