I have been a sprint user for a little over a year now, but I came over as a transfer from nextel which I had been a subscriber for 5 years.

My current plan is the fair&flexible $59.99
PVAP: 15$
300 Text: 5$
TEP: 7$

Total every month: 98$

Average minute usage:198 Anytime minutes......

As I have posted in another thread I have just either lost my a900 or it was stolen, regardless I am phone less. This comes after my i930 i purchased at full price went broken...that was the original reason i did the transfer to begin with, as it was the only way I could get a discounted new phone ( i could have replaced the i930 but I didn't want the same model at the time due to the buggy 1st gens.)

I would like to change my plan since I don't use the Power Vision, and I only need around 300 anytime minutes but this would make me extend my contract another 2 years which I do not want to do again because even though I have been a customer for years, I have never gotten any retention benefits or anything other than an upgrade discount. Now if I do the math...

Sprint Power Pack 450: 39.99$
TM: 5.00$
TOTAL: 44.99$
x Remaining 11 months in my contract = $494.89

Current Plan x Remaining 11 months = $1078

So the difference would be ~580$

So now it seems like I have two choices...
1. Stay with sprint for the remaining 11 months, spend 580$ more, and spend RIDICULOUS money to upgrade my phone.
NET LOSS: 580$ + Phone = ~780
2. Get my replacement phone, cancel my contract, pay the termination fees, switch to a different carrier and get their discounts on phones, sell the replacement phone.
NET LOSS: 249?$ - Phone = ~149

Is there any sprint CSR's on this board that can help me figure out how to explain this to sprint customer care without sounding demanding. I dont want to pull the "I'll hold my breath till my face turns blue" crap
As you can see sprints current policies make canceling your plane much more appealing than dealing with this....chances at SERO for renewing 2 years? Any help???

actually per Sprints new policies you can change your plan at anytime and not extend your contract!
Option 1 This being said you can purchase an ebay phone and not extend your contract and tell the person activating the phone through CS that you purchased the phone outright and there should be no contract extension.
Option 2 Use your TEP and pay the $50 insurance deductible and get the same phone again and only be out 50 and save monthly by changing your plan.

Regardless your options are better than you think!

Really! I had actually just called before posting this thread and the CSR told me I would have to extend my contract to change my plan! That does help a little bit but after a little digging I even found out that I had changed from sprint to nextel originally as well! That means 6 years combined! I just look around at all of the signature and stories in the forum and just dont feel I am getting my fair share as a loyal customer. Is there anyway to ask for things without being a pain? I work CSR as well and know how worthless it is to call and be a jerk!
I just feel I deserve something as an incentive. As the saving I would recieve on Treo's/Moguls of the world from a new company would be the same as my ETF. Or I could change the plan to the minimum monthly service plan and wait it out pray for a policy change to get out without an ETF? Also, is it true other companies are doing pro-rated ETFs now?

Your #2 calculation is wrong. You forgot to factor in the cost of getting 11 months of service from another carrier and any cost of getting the phone from the other carrier.

Lawd if you do this, AND change your plan, please make sur you speak with an informed rep over the phone, because those duds will extend you and it will turn into something.

Your #2 calculation is wrong. You forgot to factor in the cost of getting 11 months of service from another carrier and any cost of getting the phone from the other carrier.

Current Plan x Remaining 11 months = $1078
Sprint Power Pack 450(Or comparable plan from other carriers): 39.99$
TM: 5.00$
TOTAL: 44.99$
x Remaining 11 months in my contract = $494.89

Read carefully :)
The 580$ hit in the first calculation is the difference between two service plans, therefore you would not need to enter either of the monthy plans as means for calculation when you can just use the difference for one.

Also, all companies give phones for free and the discount I will recieve on the exact same phone is a difference of 200$ more for sprint since I am a current subscriber which wasn't even taken into account.

Looking for a reason to stay with sprint since they have not given me any incentives and now I am in a bargaining position since either way the difference from multiple angles of approach is going to nullify the early term fee.

Just want a loyalty bonus!

After getting that new information about the plan change I called sprint and was very impressed. It seems in the recent months sprint has DRASTICALLY improved their customer service for reasonable requests. Plan changed, no new contracts, very friendly and polite customer support. Big thanks to Steven from Sprint!!

Now to try to figure out what to do about these phones...

and please read the WHOLE thread aau007. I'm sure you will figure out your mistake as the calcs do include service and a phone.
