It's been a crazy college football season. Who would've thought Ohio State would make it back to the National Championship game this year after the talent they lost to the NFL. Hopefully this year the Buckeyes can prove to all there haters that they have a good team. :fingers:

This was by far the most down to the wire season ever. throughout the there were a lot of teams in and out of first place. OSU came in rankes 25th now they are playing LSU at home in the BCS championship game AGAIN. will the 51 days off be a contributing factor? who do you think will win?

Well...
Michigan beat Notre Dame soundly.
Notre Dame scraped by Stanford.
Stanford beat Cal.
Cal used to be #2 in the country.
Cal beat the Vols.
So, Michigan is better than ND, who beat 2 possible BCS caliber teams, one of which was #2 in the country and another who played in the SEC Championship game.
So in reality ND is pretty good. =)
Go Tigers!

Beanie has rushed for 100yds+ in eight games and has rushed over 200 yds twice this year against Michigan St. and Michigan. If he has another good day that should help take off a lot of presure on Boeckman. If Boeckman takes what the defense gives him and doesn't turn the ball over it should be a good game.

you better be hoping they dont get blown out and embarass the big 10 again ;)
that being said, as much as it pains me, coming down to bowl season i got to cheer for the big 10. I honestly dont think the ohio state is the number one program in the country this season, but we'll see
just looked up the CFB predictions (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141447) and found this gem:
I think both Michigan and USC will end up undefeated (yes... I think we will get that OSU monkey off of our back this year) and will play for the championship!
So... what are your predictions?
that being said, if Bucky heads down to florida and lays the smack down on the SEC vol's i will be very happy....but I am just happy to be watching a game on Jan 1 :D
Michigan v. Florida and Illinois v. USC are going to be fun ones to watch too....if if if if if the big ten is able to sweep all those bowl games (and that is a big if) i will be an extremely happy gentleman
however if the OSU gets embarassed again 41-14 dont you worry, i will be back in here talking smack

Ohio State will not overlook LSU like they did Florida last year. I would think the Ohio State players will have extra motivation to prove to all there doubters that they are a good football team. It's funny, but according to their fans, they just might be.....Best example for that is the Yankees. They win the AL east just about every year. Have won more championships than any other professional team. But if they don't win in the playoffs or the world series every year, the fans think they suck. Every teams fan thinks they should win the championship every year. Lofty expectation? Of coarse. But that doesn't stop the fans from wanting it. I personally think any team making it to the playoffs in a given year is an accomplishment they should be proud of, but unfortunately, most fans don't feel the same way.

I don't know if I've said it here (on SU), but it is my main College Football Philosophy....
Root for your Team (GO BLUE!)
Root for your Conference (Big Ten!)
Root for your rivals (OSU, USC, Notre Damn, MSU...)
I rooted for OSU in the national title game last year and they broke my heart. I rooted for Wisconsin, Penn State and all Big Ten teams last year in their bowl games. I only 'hate' on OSU when it is close to The Game or when an OSU lover talks smack about Michigan. I will Root for OSU this year even though they are going up against a team with a Michigan Man as a coach. And if they lose I will be disapointed.
just looked up the CFB predictions (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141447) and found this gem:

Heh.... guess we didn't get that monkey off of our back. A great quote about monkeys: "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"
If OSU was to get spanked again in the Championship Game really no Big Ten team/fan should be saying anything considering OSU beat them.
ahem... Illinois?
They won't sweep those games I am a diehard MI fan but they just can't handle a running QB and now they have the best one in the country. It's gonna be a slaughter
I don't know about that... lets not forget that when Tebow got the heisman, he also had a cast on his hand. Also this should (SHOULD) be the first time since the first snap of the season that we are healthy. Florida's defense is suspect, and Michigan should be able to put points on the board. Now we will still have problems with Tebow & company putting points up of their own, but I see a possible shootout... last team to score wins!
Ohio State will not overlook LSU like they did Florida last year. I would think the Ohio State players will have extra motivation to prove to all there doubters that they are a good football team.
I saw that Tressel is taking less time in New Orleans this year (only 5 days instead of 10). They were ****y last year and weren't prepared enough. This year will be different. The only downside is if they are better and properly prepared this year AND they lose.. ouch.
I bet if Ohio State wins then OSU haters will be saying they should have played a different team.
No matter who wins people will complain that someone else should have played (Oklahoma, Georgia, USC....)
I just think it's funny when people talk smack especially after the game when they don't even have a college football team or they just don't want to admit to who there team is or there team already got beat by Ohio State earlier in the season.
Talking smack is part of the game. Win or lose you talk smack. As said above I'll always be a fan of OSU so long as they are a rival of UofM and/or are in the Big Ten. If in the next few years the pendulum of this great UofM/OSU rivalry swings back to Michigan I fully expect to hear smack from OSU fans.
Win or lose I think most college football fans would love to see there team have a opportunity to play for a National Championship game. Ohio State has been to the National Championship game 3 times in 5 years and some people still think there not good.
Keep in mind this is not the same team that Beat Miami for the Championship, or even the same team that got beat by Florida last year. I don't think there are many people out there that are true college football fans that wil say the OSU football PROGRAM is not good, but year to year the team changes. This team has to stand up on their own two feet and PROVE they are a good team. They got beat by Illinois (sounds worse than it is this year), only put up 14 on their rival UofM, played a truly cupcake out of conference schedule, and are in a conference that is down this year. So far I don't see any proof that they are the best team in college football this year. Show me on Jan 7 with a win and I'll admit they are the best this year.

I agree with the good posting, but...
Who didn't like last year's Michigan vs. Ohio State game? Other than when we lost, it was great, and it lived up to the tremendous hype. Ohio State played Northwestern, I believe, before the Michigan game at the same time Michigan played, and they barely won. I was watching Michigan and rooting for OSU, because "The Game" was going to be so much fun to watch.
Besides, its more bearable to lose to you rival, the #1 team in the country, than your other rival, unranked.
Go OSU.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Top-ranked Ohio State will be without two cornerbacks -- one a starter and the other a top reserve -- who have been suspended for the Allstate BCS Championship Game against LSU, according to media reports.
Donald Washington, a sophomore who has started every game this season for the Buckeyes (11-1), and backup Eugene Clifford were suspended for violating team rules, WCMH-TV and The Columbus Dispatch reported Wednesday.
Athletic director Gene Smith declined Thursday to confirm the suspensions and said there was "work to be done" before he could confirm them.
Washington, in particular, played a key role in an Ohio State defense ranked among the best in the nation. He had 34 tackles, tied for seventh-best on the team with second-team All-American lineman Vernon Gholston, and also had two tackles for minus yardage, one sack, one interception and one fumble recovery.
Washington, 21, started at nickel back a year ago and moved into the starting spot at field corner this spring. In a 48-3 win over Kent State on Oct. 13, the Indianapolis native returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown and recorded his first career sack.
With him out of the lineup, redshirt freshman Chimdi Chekwa will most likely move into the starting position.
Clifford was a prized recruit last spring after receiving all-state and several national honors during his days at Colerain High School.
He was listed as Malcolm Jenkins' backup at border corner on the Buckeyes' latest two-deep chart.
Clifford had played in four games, totaling eight tackles.
The Buckeyes' final workout before the holidays was on Wednesday. They will be off until returning on Dec. 26, then will practice for a week before flying to New Orleans on Jan. 2.

LSU's two losses both came in triple overtime to other winning, bowl-bound, teams (Kentucky and Arkansas). Also, you could make arguements why USC, Oklahoma or Virginia Tech should be in the big dance...but when 'the' ohio state played their last game of the season they werent in the national championship.

Who shouldn't be talking smack? You get it from either informed fans who will bring all of the faults of a team into the light of day (which you can rebuff, make fun of, or ignore alltogether), or it is from someoen with nothing more intelligent to say than 'oSu SUCks anD is goIng to Loose' which deserves nothing more than blissfull silence in return.

This College Football season has been very odd to say the least. This year I don't think any team has clearly looked like a National Championship caliber team. You say OSU snuck into the National Championship game but what about LSU with 2 losses?
It doesn't matter who was in the National Championship game, they all would have snuck or backed in:
OSU backed in because they were ranked 7th then without playing anybody got to #1.
LSU snuck in because they were ranked lower than Georgia and went over them without beating them in one game.
USC would have snuck in with a humiliating loss at home from Stanford.
Kansas would have snuck in without beating anyone of consequnce (and losing to the only team of consequnce they played)
VaTech would have snuck in with a humilitaing loss to LSU.
Similar stories for Oklahoma, Hawaii, and every other ranked team.
No one had a rightfull claim on the National Championship this year. The only way to truly find a champion this year is a playoff.

Ohio State scored a TD 23 seconds into the Illinois game. Illinois came right back only to clearly fumble the ball into the endzone which Ohio State recovered. For what ever reason there was no reply. Corrupt official or not those officials should have not been officiating that game plain and simple (prior issues with them). I never said that if the Officials made the right call Ohio State would have won but it would have definitely swung momentum back to Ohio State. Geessshhh

Hopefully Boekman gets some time to throw early in the game and completes some passes. That will open up the run. Ohio State defense has to contain the LSU's QB's and not give up big plays. Arkansas and Kentucky racked up 40+ points on the LSU so hopefully Ohio State learned something from those games.
