So I downloaded Windows Live (Not Live Search) and installed it in my Q about two weeks ago before I got the Q9c. At anyrate, both phones can push hotmail flawlessly. Here is the linky for the cab file. :headbang2

Does this sync your Windows Live contacts with the contact list on your phone still?

It depends. If you are going to use messenger, then yes. If you have no interest in messenger, then in your sync options when you are setting up live, don't put a check in sync Contants and Messenger. Your Windows Live contacts will not be imported then.

My old Q automatically worked w/hotmail, so please forgive me for this question, but:

how does this file work? does installing it use up any text msgs? I read somewhere that there was one program that does.

No this does not use txt and unlike your old Q, the Q9c does not do hotmail out of the box. You can use IE to read your hotmail but not MSN. Also this will push your hotmail so you get your email as you recieve it at the server.

How legal is this download? Is there anywhere to get it directly from Microsoft?

Not sure if it's legal but Microsoft says it's bundled with WM6 and it's up to the carrier to keep it on the device.
