I can't believe it. 50-48 in 3OT. Another top 5 team upset by an unranked team. I didn't get to watch the game because I was at work, but I followed the latter part of the game on ESPN.com. I really hope they replay it this weekend because this has to be an instant classic.

This week and the rest of the NCAA season will ironically probably be the most exciting stretch for the Buckeyes and they don't even have to play a game. LSU dropped off the top spot, #2 Kansas and #4 Mizzou to go at it tomorrow so one of them have to drop, and #3 WVU faces a worthy adversary in #20 Connecticut who are probably ready to ride the upset wave like many teams have already in recent history.

Amidst all this, OSU is sitting pretty at #5, ready to benefit from all of these games, with a Nat'l Championship still in reach. The winner of the Kansas/Mizzou game still has to play the Sooners for the conference championship, and they're way better than either of those teams IMO. WVU vs OSU for the NC is very possible.

With this loss I also think Les Miles is now a lock for the coaching job in Ann Arbor. :td:

I didn't even know the LSU vs. ARK game was on untill the 4 quarter. I thought LSU was going to pull out another close game. I'm surprised LSU didn't rush the passer when they had ark 4 down and 10. If somehow the Buckeyes make it to a National Championship game I'm sure if Ohio State was to win the OSU haters will say they played a week team or something like that.

i was watching the game and thought "great...if LSU losses, all i am going to hear is a bunch of 'the' ohio state fans whining about how they should get to play in the national championship"

but this year has been fun, upsets almost every week....makes it fun to watch.

BC - Miami on right now....blowout
Virginia - Virginia Tech....looks like it might be a close one

Hopefully the upsets continue next week.:fingers: I would love for Ohio State to play West Virgina in the National Championship game. With the wacky college football season this year I wouldn't be surprised if both #1 and #2 lose again. Pitt doesn't have a good record but they have lost some close games. The sooners beat Missouri earlier in the season. The rose bowl will be fine if both teams win.

I too would love to see OSU and WVU play each other, as They are totally different...which I feel would be an interesting matchup.

Lets see... the Champions ship game will be between #1 and #2 by week:

PreSeason - Wk 5) USC Vs LSU
Wk 6) LSU Vs Cal
Wk 7) OSU Vs USF
Wk 8 and 9) OSU Vs BC
Wk 10) OSU Vs LSU
Wk 11) LSU Vs Oregon
Wk 12) LSU Vs Kansas
Wk 13) Missouri Vs WV

And the National Championship game will be between:

Missouri Vs WV.... Missouri Vs OSU?.... WV Vs OSU?... OSU Vs Georgia??? One week from the announcement of the National Championship match up and I wouldn't bet on who will be there.

Even in a down year for Michigan I just have to shout from the Rooftops: I LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

Just for comparison Last year looked like this:

Preseason Notre Dame
Wk 1 Texas
Wk 2 Notre Dame
Wk 3 - Wk 5 Auburn
Wk 6 Florida
Wk 7 - 12 Michigan
Wk USC

And the National Championship Game was Florida! Oh yea... OSU was #1 until the National Championship game!

Yeah man. Needless to say it's been one hell of a year. Definitely the most exciting in a while.

Les Miles was the coach at Oklahoma State a few years ago. I think he will return to Michigan if at all possible.

That LSU game was fun, I didn't think Arkansas had it in them. Can you say Heisman award? The Missouri game was impressive, if they play like that all the way thru, they could be the champ at the end.

After thinking about I agree with Kirk Herbstreit so I would rather my Buckeyes play USC in the Rose Bowl.

One possibility is OU plays the spoiler (they beat Missouri once already this season) and beats Missouri in the Big 12 championship in San Antonio on Saturday. Otherwise it COULD be Missouri againist WV for bragging rights till next year.:headbang2:)

I read the ESPN article.:thought:

This was my point that Kirk Herbstreit made in the article above:
Ohio State will gain more respect if it plays USC in the Rose Bowl and wins that game, than if it goes and beats West Virginia/Missouri and wins the national title. From an image standpoint, Ohio State would score more points going to the Rose Bowl than by going to the national championship game. If you can believe that, that's the truth.

That's very true, but the possibility of adding 1 more to the NC win count is always nice.

Hmm... I believe I would rather see OSU play USC. For now I agree that it would help OSU's image in the short run.... but in the long run the National Championship will look better. in 10 or 20 years no one is going to say 'Hey OSU is such a good program! Remember back in '07 when they beat USC!'

But in 10 or 20 years the program will still be bragging about being National Champions with a win over.... whomever.

With a OSU USC matchup I would be all cheers... it doesn't matter who scores:

Go Buckeyes... run thoses darned Trojans into the ground!
Go USC... show OSU who's boss!

No matter who wins.... one of Michigan's rivals will lose!

I think that it will be OSU vs. West Virginia.

And OSU will be crushed. And blame the layover (again).

You will be wrong again just like how you said hart and henne would have there best game against osu. Then you blamed henne's shoulder. lol The time between games doesn't usually help however Tressel will have them ready to play this time.

OU is favored by 3 (not much) over Missouri. If Missouri plays like they did againist Kansas, IMO they will advance to play WV in number one verse's number two.:headbang2:)

The Big 12 has alot of good teams this year!

Wow watching both games right now. This is intense. No way I thought BOTH these games would be this tight!

21-14 OU with 4:00 to go in the 3rd.
13-7 Pitt with 3min to go in the 4th WITH the ball

Who likes the smell of roses anyway? ;)

edit:

Pitt with the ball 1:30 to go 13-7 (the refs are so crooked for WVU its not even funny)
OU up 28-14 now

what a day

It's official, OSU is bound for the NC. WVU's embarrassing loss to Pitt marks the 13th (yes, that's THIRTEENTH) time a top 5 team loses to an unranked team. GJ to the Panthers for pulling through, even with the refs against them (see: the 3 clearly BS penalties called in the 4th against Pitt). I don't think anyone outside of WV can argue that there was something fishy with the officiating and I hope it gets addressed.

And now Mizzou is facing what is becoming a blowout... 35-17... ouch.

Time to shake up the BCS rankings one last time. OSU vs ??? Georgia? LSU? I hope not LSU... it would be worse than last year's blowout.

This year for college fb has just been insane, and this weekend sums it up pretty well.

OSU plays LSU in New Orleans is my prediction. It's possible EIGHT teams from the Big 12 are bowl bound!

Looks like that 30 Million dollar deal will keep Les Miles (Oklahoma State's former coach) at LSU. So much for ESPN shouting from the roof tops he would leave! ROFLMAO

Time will tell but Georgia did beat Kentucky, spanked Auburn and beat Florida. I think USC has a chance to sneak in. If LSU does play in national championship game I wonder if there defensive coordinator stays and coaches since he excepted the Nebraska job.

LSU at the 2 spot.

Talk about a blowout in the making.

LSU chokes away its NC spot TWO times and will still most likely get to play in it.

All I can hope for is that the trend in college football this year continues in the NC... and that is the seemingly impossible upset.

OU looked really good againist the number one team in the land, last night. Does that mean they should be second? The coaches didn't think so according to the list. Of the top three teams in the poll, who really had the tougher group of teams to play?
