Ok I just picked up the New Moto Q9C today and it's pretty nice. I think we need to start a new thread for this. I will take some pics and post them as soon as I can.

It has Sprint TV preloaded and only comes with the extended battery.

Can you measure the thickness of the phone including the battery cover? The Sprint spec sheet stated .7 inches, and some people in the other threads refuse to believe it.

I don't know about Sprint's version, but .7 is correct for the Q9m (VZW). That's with a standard battery, though. I'd assume they'd be the same since the phone is the same, though.

Kinda cheesy that they didn't include both batteries with the thing.....

? All the spec sheets for the Q9m say .47 inches thick (w/normal battery).

Sprint Fact Sheet Says:

Dimensions: 4.6” x 2.6” x 0.7”
Weight: 5.2 ounces

My assumption is thats 0.7" with the extended battery, not the standard battery.

sel1965

My initial thoughts on the phone are:

1. Build quality seems good nice and sturdy, the keys are raised up which makes it easy to type.

2. Screen well after the Touch seems small. I still like the Touch screen best.

3. There does appear to be some menu lag not bad but it is noticible.

4. Earpiece is awesome, so is the speaker phone sounds much better than the original.

5. It looks very classy and you can hardly tell it's there well almost.

So the Sprint Q9C only comes with the extended "bulging" battery? Yikes.

That "bulge" is not acceptable, imo.

Does anyone know what the difference is in battery life between the extended battery and the standard battery?

Does it Have the wheel (I thought i could tell from Pic 3), but just for clarification.

I know the GSM version, excludes the wheel and VZW Q9m includes it???

The profiles are the same as the original I believe. Normal, silent, vibrate, outdoor, automatic.

It is the same charger port mini usb.

and the wheel is present on the side.

I have a hotmail account and can't seem to get that to set up correctly. On the Touch it was easy and when I received email it would notify me on the main screen.

It includes the wheel on the right hand side. My experiance is that the wheel is just a little bit too flush with the device so I find myself missing a scroll every now and then, not a big deal.

It uses the same min-usb and all of your accessores from your previous Q should work fine.

Overall it is a very nice device, very well built and a solid feel. It is just a tad larger then the current Q (to accomodate the GPS). The keyboard on this device is EXTREMELY good, one of best keyboards I have used on any device. It has a very nice feel to it and typing is very easy.

The Touch shipped with Windows Live which makes setting up Hotmail much easier. The Q9c does not ship with Windows Live. On devices without Windows Live I tend to gravatate to http://mobile.live.com and check my hotmail that way.

awesome. so they removed the dreaded headset profile. o the current q if you get a text or email and the bt headset is connected it will never make a noise on the phone speaker. just the headset. if you didnt have it in your ear you would never know you got a text.

- Buy the standard battery, thats what I'm going to do.
- No picture mail, no big deal. I'm glad it doesn't come with it. Besides, the phone is geared towards corporate business people.

I like the ATT version better, but its not that much of a difference.

$149.99 for new subscribers (after $100 MIR)

and

I hope the store by me has it so I can get it tomorrow, if not, I'll buy one online.

For all you people complaining about the big battery, you are also probably the first ones to complain about battery life. Well you will love this because I have been using this phone extensively since Wednesday and have not charged it since Wednesday and still have 3 bars left. Amazing what the extended battery can do. Someone mentioned that this phone is geared more towards business or corporate use you are right. That is who is targeted for this phone.

Honestly, I haven't messed with the Q9c much since I got it, I'm still recovering from all the crowds, hah. I think the phone looks sleek though.

I still haven't gotten used to the touch and lack of keyboard, so I'm probably going to be more fond of the Q. I'll mess with it later this afternoon, and I'm sure that just because it has a keyboard, I'll like it more.

Just have to decide what to do with my Touch now, if this ends up taking over on me, hah.

yeh i have the same problem i just cant type proficiently on the touch to do any work email or email basic IM's/texts i constantly make mistakes because i hate t9 with a passion so i use qwerty and havent found a layout that works for me, even spb fullscreen just isnt responsive enough i cant tell when ive pressed the lettero r if i havent, plus i hate that 1 line display youre stuck in. Pocketcm is nice looking but even the iphone layout the letters are too small for my fat fingers nad i constantly push the wrong letter and make spelling errors

i think the Q may catch me becuse it has the keyboard and i did like the original Q minus all the bugs when it launched.

like i said i LOVE the touch but if i cant type on it its useless really since thats what i mainly use it for email/text/IM/data and then phone calls secondly

Easy question for you since you havent installed anything past stock, whats the free RAM after a soft reset?

also maybe you can be the first to confirm/deny live search/google maps works with the built in gps. thatd be a bigger plus for me to go buy one today, if i can find one (best buy full prices are astronomical plus the bad crowds today).

*EDIT well that was fast first store i called 2 blocks away still has 5- decision decisions, gues i can alwasy return one or the other!

I actually have installed a few things, and didnt think to check how much was free, beforehand. I left it at my office charging, so I don't have it with me ATM, but I'll know in a couple of hours, and I'll see how the GPS works in it as well.

Wow great news about GPS.

Anyone know the standard practice when sprint.com gives you the blank screen after ordering? I just ordered the Q9c and got the blank screen treatment. I don't want to hit back or refresh and end up with 2 Q9c's. No confirm email, so I'm guessing it didn't go through, but I'll give it 24 hours just in case.

I'm sending my touch back too, I tried out the iphone and really love the touchscreen keyboard on that but the HTC touch is nowhere near the same usability. To do anything you need tht stylus which takes me back to the old days of 2003... slow and annoying. The touch on the HTC is different because you can not go fast, you need to press and hold each virtual button down which slows the rate that you can type at. Instead i'm getting the q9c, as I've loved my Q and this looks like a nice upgrade.

Man you are lucky. I can't get them to swap my Mogul for nothing which is why I bought the Q9C outright! I hate the damn thing.....1/4 of the time I turn it on and it rings like I have a call, but it doesn't let me answer. When I call the person back they say that they called hours ago! At that point I also get a deluge of txt messages and usually a vm notification! Annoying!

**EDIt i jsut swapped ESNs back to my Touch. Theres just something about the wm6 standard i jsut dont like- almost feels like a toy compared to a polished computer. well ive had it almost a month and not one issue some people are having. maybe just a different batch of phone, i got mine the morning it came out. or jsut lucky

oh one legit gripe with the q9c, well moto more, is that theyre SO skimpy what they include. htc gave us a leather pouch, usb port splitters, headphones, 512mb card. all the q9c came with was a wall charger and data cable. Motos always been like that though even on expensive phones- hey u just spend $450 now go spend another $50-75 in accessories (usb headphones, memory card, case, etc) we should have included.

agree 100% on both statements but also dont think the q9c is a "cure all" its essentially the same Q just "hopped up" a little in a few areas. It does run better and id idnt notice any major bugs but its not a dream device Moto could have made it.

I just want to decide on a dam phone and go with it. lol I have a Pearl now because I wanted to try something different after using the Q for 11 months. I really don't care about having the push email so I probably should save the extra $20 a month but the Pearl's camera is nice and it probably has less issues. I like to surf the web a lot and text so I should get the Q9c but thinking about giving the Touch a second shot like sel1965. I could just wait for the 800 but that won't happen. If only the Touch had a keyboard.

Wait for next year when the Touch Dual gets here...

Sorry Matt, should have stayed on topic, well let's see, I thought the Keyboard on the Q2 was amazing, best I've used on a phone, but I am disappointed with the size of the device...

agreed i wasnt impressed with its size coming from the smaller touch. i didnt like it only came with the hump extended battery only. theres so much blank space on the device, they should have made it smaller overall or put a bigger screen in to fill the space or something.

overall its a good phone though. the OS just isnt my cup of tea ive been spoiled by large touchscreens and full windows mobile that can do more easier. even the smallest customizations like getting the homescreen how i like it would take lots of complicated xml file editing instead of a few clicks and drags t arrange stuff on a PPC. maybe im just used to touchscreen but i found navigation through the menus and programs to be a huge pain not only having to dpad up and down but also left and right at weird times, just not very intuitive.

there were also times the phone felt laggy and the spinning "wait' icon would come on. i even had it lock up once or twice in a few hours jsut doing normal operation.

fyi the free ram off a soft reset was onlt 28mb, not the 40+ reported/guessed. another big downfall it still has the wm6 memory leak and low RAM issues the mogul had- not AS bad but still there. id get down to 18mb with nothing running vs the touch with never less than 60. run a few programs and performance started to bog down on the Q9c vs the Touch still being speedy cause it has all that memory available.

conclusion: q9c is going back ill wait for gps and rev A on the touch.

I played with the Q9c today for awhile and even though I know it would be a great phone for me I just want something different. I asked my wife if I could have my Centro back and she said no. lol I think I'm going to return my Pearl and possible go back to a Centro even though I still like my Q more. The Touch Dual will be nice. I wish Sprint would get a phone like the Voyager. :irked:

centros keyboard is just TOO small its like smaller than a flip keypad, a qwerty stuck in that space. prob harder to type on than the touch even.

but yeh im not digging the q9c just been too spoiled by the touchscreens and full WM. i cant use solely a dpad for everything anymore its too hard!! i can just tap my mail icon n go to mail, not scroll down a few clicks then over a few just to do it. like i said i find everything easier to do on the touchscreen and more customizable. i forgot you had to xml edit a homescreen on a q which is such a pain to get it the way u want. its not like WM6 pro where you just click the today settings n add plugins easily

I'm really looking at getting this phone, since I don't think I could handle a touch screen keyboard. I wanted the pearl first but having to add an extra 30bucks to my account which is already over 90bucks/month (with 25% off) sucks.

I want a pda phone but I just don't know if the Q9c is enough for my wants in a new cell phone.

I don't completely care for the extended battery either, but I can just buy a standard battery, no big deal to me. I think they included the extended battery because so many people complained about battery life with the original Q.

I'm not sold that the professional wm is "easier" than standard. Standard seems to be just as easy to deal with as professional, I guess its just user preference. I like both, btw. I think professional is more customizable than standard.

I've had the Q9C since early Friday and have experienced no lag at all really and I haven't been closing applications. I'm not sure what you could possibly be doing to get the device to lock up, but I've experienced 0 lockups so far.

I haven't noticed any sort of memory leak yet, I haven't reset it since Friday.....I'll let ya'all know when I need to do that. It hasn't slowed down to a crawl like my Mogul did, so thats a plus.

I think I'm going to give a comparison review, because each device has their good and bad points.

lol after I had several issues with my Q I think *2<talk "Cancel" twice in 6 days worked just as well...

20 Nov-10% off my total bill ($200+ savings) since I had to wait 2-5 days for a replacement.

25 Nov-Sending me the Q9C for $149.99 and I get to keep the original Q. I should receive it by the 28th.

- Buy the standard battery, thats what I'm going to do.

Do they have two (standard/extended) like the original Q? Hopefully my old battery will fit and all I will have to do is get the new door.

alaskanbo, tell me about how you are grandfathered with vision. I've had Vision on one of my phones for 2 years and have been paying $10/month. Can I leverage Sprint and get them to honor that or have you done something else.

Also, I hear of people getting discounts and such, how do I manager that?

One more thing, when you all mention upgrading to the Q9C for $149, are you somehow avoiding the rebate or are you just taking that into consideration.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I hate getting screwed by cell phone companies.

I'm going to order my Q9C tomorrow. It looks like a good fit for everything I need. I was set on the Mogul, then started reading about them having TONS of issues.

prob sprints fault either way only the extended was a bad choice IMO. id rather have 4 hr talktime n a slim phone (which its suppsed to be) then a pregnant looking phone thats bottom/back heavy. its jsut not comfortable in the hand now. and i really see no point on a $450 phone to buy yet another battery at $40, then a case for is (it doesnt include) for $20-30, then a memory card (not included) say $20, then headphones (doesnt include) say $15. Minus out even the battery if you like it and your still talking over $60 in extras when the Touch includes all of that stuff for $499 total price and a much bigger screen, smaller phone. i thought itd also save a little money too getting the q9c, but itd end up costing more having to buy everything extra and a slim battery (almost $50 more).

I can't see how its not comfortable in the hand. It doesn't weigh that much, and I have no clue how you are holding it, but I've tried every which way to make it uncomfortable to hold. Half the time I barely even touch the battery while holding the phone.

The standard OEM battery can be found NEW on ebay for $9 and the standard battery door can be found for $5....so $14 for the standard battery and door, not bad.

The Q9C and Touch were made for stereo bluetooth headphones, and if stereo bluetooth headphones aren't your thing then buy some cheap USB headphones for the q9c (just like the ones that come with the ppc6700, 6800, and touch).

As for the leather pouch, not as many people use them as you think.

Overall, both phones are good. They both have their positive points and negative points.....I think the Touch is meant for a different crowd than the Q9C. The Q9C is geared towards corporate customers while the Touch seems to be geared towards multimedia people (hell, look at the box for starters)!

I didn't really care for the d-pad on the Q2 but who knows maybe if I would've bought it I might have liked it. I went sprintusers on it at the sprint store but for some reason the text size was different then other sites. I sent a email to birdsoft about being able to clink on a link for a picture mail but they never replied back. After using a Touch, Pearl and a Centro the Q just seems really big but who knows I might still try it. For the most part I'm happy with the Centro because of the threaded text, size, picture mail and everything works fast out of the box.

The Motorola Q9C could be the perfect phone for me but I am very dissappointed with the bluetooth on it. I have been having problems with it using my bluetooth headset. There is a considerable amount of static and hissing compared to the original Q. Also on two calls the bluetooth signal started to degrade to the point that I could hardly hear the person on the other end. Both of those calls involved accounts of mine. Luckily on both calls I had taken care of everything. This happened with the phone next to me. Then I had an instance where I called Sprint to talk to a rep but changed my mind in mid call. I tried to hang up using the button on the bluetooth headset. The phone didn't hang up and I started to hear the on-hold music playing from Sprint through the ear piece on the handset. I hit the end call on the handset and the phone still would not hang up. By that time a rep made it to the phone and I just cut phone off to end the call. Lastly today I was using the Sprint Navigator with my bluetooth headset and on one occasion no voice instruction came through. My bluetooth heaset made the sound it normally makes right before any incoming sound but nothing followed. Other than the bluetooth on this phone I love it. I like going through a day of work and only have on drop on the battery level right before bed. Also I love having the navigation and sprint tv which I don't have on my original Q. But I need a reliable bluetooth. The bluetooth on my original Q is flawless. I never have to repeat myself or have problems hearing on my end. I am considering exchanging it but I purchased it online and billed to my account and I dont want to be stuck with it if this problems plagues all of the Q9s. Are you allowed to even exchange phone at the store that you buy online or do you have to get a return kit?

Hey. I have the Q 9c too. I'd love to know what the big fuss is over the extra thickness of an extended life battery? It actually makes the phone survive more than a day without needing a charge. The feel is even sturdier than that of the Q if that is possible and the look is better. So, for anyone who can get over the OVER documented fact that the extended battery adds a few millimeters of thickness (Oh no! The world is ending!) Let's get into some REAL differences between the Moto Q and Moto Q 9c.

- Q often buzzes when the keyboard is lit. Q 9c does not.

- Q has accent-lit number keys for easy visual help in dialing phone numbers. On the Q 9c, there is no difference so you just have to know where the numbers are, look above the keys, or go by the dot on the 5.

- IMHO, the Q 9c's camera seems to require a tad less light than the Q to take pictures. Pictures also seem a bit less grainy.

- The keyboard on the Q 9c is AMAZING! GONE are the days of skipping characters if you type too quickly on the device - and believe me, I type very quickly. For those of you who have played with the Sprint Mogul (HTC PPC-6800), the keys on the Q 9c have the same glossover feel and a similar feedback feel, the keys on the Q 9c are perhaps depressed a minute bit deeper than the mogul but other than that and the size, the keyboards on the Q 9c and Mogul are quite similar.

- NOBODY has mentioned this and I'm dumbfounded as to why. While on the Q, for instant messaging, we must rely on 3rd party apps for instant messaging. From my desperate trying about 4 months ago, I reluctantely settled on Octrotalk for my Q. The Q 9c seems to offer the best instant messaging solution I've ever seen for a mobile device. From the information, it comes from OZ communications and is some form of this:

http://www.oz.com/index.php/section/mobile-im/

and the speed at which I can use AIM on the Q because of this (and the keyboard) is not far off from the speed at which I use AIM on the PC. As such, this is going to be the hardest phone to replace when the time comes.

And, to add one final comment, yes, Sprint said at one point that this phone is geared to corporate users. My responce to that is that some people at Sprint are idiots and the proof of this is their position in the cell phone industry verses Verizon and AT&T. Stupid things like they don't sell call tones to people who have this phone (or the Q) when the phone has absolutely nothing to do with caller tones - and the fact that they're not marketing this phone to teens and young adults who are text messaging crazy and they'd rather these users deal with stupid T9. lol so Sprint can market this phone as anything they want. I may be corporate in the sense that I work in an office - but I don't think it's very corporate to want to store your contacts in both your phone and your computer and I don't think it's very corporate to want a good QWERTY keyboard and instant messaging client. So, ignore Sprint when they say that. The Q 9c is for anyone who:
Doesn't care about an extra few mm of thickness over a Razr or Q
loves to text but is sick and tire of typing "of" every time they mean "me" or "if" every time they mean "he" beause of T9 (and we know how fun T9 is when you run into a word that's not stored.)
anyone who liked the Q a lot but typed fast enough on it that their Q skipped letters due to not keeping up.

So, to anyone who doesn't have one but is thinking about it, of course, you should play with it if at all possible. But, I just think that deciding against it without holding it in the hand only because they read about the size of the extended battery, or saw a picture of it (when they like the other features of the phone) may be denying themselves something they would have really liked.

GOD no. That way of doing it is like 5 years gone now. It makes an AIM sound (same one AIM makes) so you switch to it and your message is right there, easily accessable as are all your conversations by way of open tabs.

I like the Q9C, like the last poster, the thickness of the battery is not a problem to me at all, I think it gives the phone a better 'feel' while making voice calls.

Having the unlocked GPS is great - I have a GPS in my car, but you gotta love being able to say "coffee" into the phone and having it find the nearest Starbucks.

The keyboard feel is nice, but I do not like the placement of the Fn key it is really awkward to depress it and access keys adjacent to it.

As far as the OZ IM client, I don't like it; I hate getting messages that I can't log into MSN Messenger because I am already logged in- geez, just let me log in and boot me off my instance at home. I would love to get the MSN Messenger smartphone client, but it seems to be unsupported and Microsoft in its infinite wisdom wants you to use Windows live in a browser to use IM.

I am considering the Q9c but I'm hoping someone can help me understand the GPS aspect of this phone better. The only experience I have with GPS was driving a BMW once. Say you are driving in your car and you are lost. Do you just type in the address you are trying to get to, and then the phone will locate exactly where you are and tell you how to get there step by step? In the BMW it will tell you when you are 100 feet away, and to turn left, ect. will the phone do that as well? Thanks.

no, not without paying for sprint GPS service which I believe gives you audio turn by turn. I would not consider the phone a replacement for a car gps, I have a Nuvi 670 in my car and will continue using that, but the phone's GPS works well for other situations, such as finding a restaurant near your location and stuff like that.

Thanks.

That is exactly what you can do with integrated GPS, depending on what software you are using. You can pay for Spint's Telnav application, which I believe will give you turn by turn voice guilded directions.

Or..

You can install Windows Live Search of Google Maps. Both of which are free and give you GPS integrated map locations. Yesterday is a great example for me. I was heading to a meeting downtown, however I didn't know what building it was in (I only had the address). I fired up live search. Told it to center on me using GPS, then spoke the address of where I was going. Live Search then gave me map directions (with an arrow where I was) that updated as I drove along the roads. For a free application, it worked amazingly well.

So basically what I'm getting from these 2 posts is that for free you basically get the same kind of service without the audio and telling you when to turn and stuff?

Mashie, so basically the arrow will update real time so you will know if you went too far or missed a turn? Does it look anything like the picture on the right?

EDIT.....

Is this it?

Yes that is what you get, however no it doesn't look anything like the picture on the right. Basically it overlays an arrow on top of the standard WLS maps. To get the type of 3D interface you are showing requres the purchase of a full blow GPS navigation program.

Since I don't use MSN, I wanted to give that a try to see what gives - cause I use this messenger all the time with AIM and I log in even when my PC is signed in. So, I gave my old MSN account a try. Logged in from the PC and then I logged in from the phone. What happened for me is that when I logged in on the phone, the PC messenger got logged out and when I logged into the PC version, the phone version got logged out. This appears to be an MSN thing as the same thing happened for me when I went to the laptop and logged in while the PC version was signed in and vice versa.

So, please do not blame the messenger on the Q9c for MSN SERVER policy.

I have Sprint Navigator and it will do just that. Put in an address or even use their voice service to say an address and it'll take you there turn by turn with voice prompts telling you as you're coming to a turn. Yes it costs extra but people who text and use data can justify that price because the newer Vision Power Pack plan at $30/month offers unlimited text messaging, Sprint TV, and yes, Sprint Navigator.

Is anyone having trouble with using a bluetooth headset with their Q9C? Mine will start off decent but later during a call I start to barely hear them. My original Q was flawless. Just trying to see if I should exchange or if this is major bug.

Hello. Coming from a Moto Q to an HTC Mogul and BACK to the Q about 3 months back, I know a thing or 2 about well documented bluetooth issues (on the Mogul). But, what I can say about the Q is that I have had some majorly long phone conversations and the bluetooth doesn't die nor do I ever have difficulty hearing anyone. I currently own a Jabra BT8010 mono/stereo bluetooth headset and it sounds fine. If it is within your means, try another bluetooth headset. Or, you can exchange the phone. It is POSSIBLE that there's a headset or two out there that the phone doesn't like - but I haven't read of any patterns of such on the net.

My most obvious question:

Can you permanently delete your text messages? Both the Inbox and the Sent folders?

I know that every time I try on my Q and I turn the phone off/on, all my messages come back.

Yes, you can delete all your text messages on the Q 9c. However, I assure you, you can also delete all your text messages on the Q. Your device is currently suffering from some weird problem. I know this cause I had it too. You could delete your text messages but they'd come bck. It happened to me back in March or April and it was annoying. There's probably some way to fix it in File or Resco explorer or by connecting it to your PC but I didn't bother. I just reset the degvice with a hard reset and from the on, I didn't run into that problem again, when I tried in the future to delete text messages, it worked. They were gone and they stayed gone. But also, text messages can be deleted on the Q 9c and I never ran into that problem.

I read somewhere that Garmin Mobile 10 (XT) would use the Q9c's GPS receiver as well but from what I have read on here this is not possible. Does anyone have it working on theirs:confused:

they make them for the 'extended battery' Q's.

I've seen them, but the Q9C keyboard is slightly closer to the bottom of the phone than the moto q was - probably by 1/4 or 3/8", so I don't think it would work. I have a body glove case from a Moto Q, and you can sort of squeeze the Q9c into it but the bottom of the keyboard is obstructed

1. What kind the memory does Q9C take? And what's the max capacity?
2. Does Q9C work with #777?
3. Where do you download interesting software? (Such as Application download thru Sprint from a regular Sprint phone)

Thanks everyone

^yeah i always liked that about Operamini...the left right on D-pad giving the scrolling affect. Even when people look over and seee me doing it, they think i got a touchscreen or something.

but so ur referring to the responsiveness of the scroll-wheel? can its sensitivty be changed or can anything about it be tweaked?

Ok. First off real quick, it is advertised on the sprint website (or so it was when I purchased the Q 9c) that the phone will support up to 32GB cards when they are available but not entirely sure.

Now that there are a few Q9c users, has anyone messed with Core Player? I used it all the time on the older Q and it worked great. It works great on the Q9c aside from one problem. When I use Orb to stream stuff from my PC and I redirect ASF and ASX files to go to Core Player instead of Windows Media Player, Orb will state that it does not support Windows Media Audio 9 files and then, it'll simply play the audio portion of the video file. Now, windows media player does work better on the Q9c than it did on the Q thank goodness. But, in the event of a buffering, full screen reverts to Windowed which is annoying. So, I'd really love to go back to using Core Player but it refuses to play the video portion of windows media 9 streams that it played just fine on the older Q. Same software, same version, paid good money for the software too, that's another reason I'd like to continue it's use.

If any of you guys has got anything on this, please post it. I've had no luck finding anything.

Just doesn't seem to matter where I ask this. The conversation just, flops. What gives? Does everybody stop using Core Player when they buy Q9c's? Or, is nobody buying a Q9c?

The standard OEM battery can be found NEW on ebay for $9 and the standard battery door can be found for $5....so $14 for the standard battery and door, not bad.
Did a search for Q9c on ebay and found no batteries or standard battery door, does the Q9c and Q use the same battery?

Well after a year on ATT I decided to jump back to Sprint. I have been using Nokia N-Series phones and really wanted something that compares. So I went to the Sprint store thinking about a Centro and ended up with the Q9. Big reason was I just felt a little more comfortable with Windows OS coming from Symbian.
Well after a couple days I am really starting to like this phone. I had doubts at first because of the lack of pic mail but emailing them seems to work ok. (just need a couple more carrier addys----Thanks T-Baker :headbang2 ) I havn't really got to mess with it yet a whole lot but I did get Pocketnester installed. And that seems to work flawless, probably better than the Symbian version which I paid for. God bless Nes emulation.
All in all I think I may really like this phone. The keyboard btw just rocks. This is my first qwerty and picked it up a lot quicker than I thought. Ill post more thoughts on it as the time goes. Think this may be a keeper. Hell I was one of the few that could keep up with TBaker HAHAA

I finally picked up a Q9C today and so far I'm glad I decided to try it. After playing with the Q9C many times at the Sprint store I didn't think it was all that different then the Q. Also from what I read on this site Q9C users were still having some of the same issues with the Q. I haven't used the Q9C all that much but I think the keyboard alone is enough to change from the first Q to make me happy.

The Q9C and Touch were made for stereo bluetooth headphones, and if stereo bluetooth headphones aren't your thing then buy some cheap USB headphones for the q9c (just like the ones that come with the ppc6700, 6800, and touch).

Last night I tried my USB headphones from my SLVR. Nothing...

Am I missing something obvious? Wired is easier to deal with on airplanes...

Tis true - you have to use the jack on the top (that's why it is there!).

Has anyone had battery/charger problems with the Mot Q9c? I am having the phone go down after it's on the charger for several hours, checked the battery and it's 2.9 volts instead of 4.2 and won't charge up any more. Have changed out batteries and chargers and the problem persists. I'm going to return the phone for an exchange, since the problem is apparently with the phone charging circuit.
