have new treo 755p can receive email but cannot send message. get error msg of "the connection was made but the SMPT server is not responding"....help

Through your Sprint account or a personal account hosted elsewhere, like your ISP?

I am getting the same error on my 755p, using my personal account from my ISP. Any ideas?

If your ISP does not allow forwarding through their SMTP server you are out of luck and will have to configure versamail to use Sprint's SMTP server to send email.
See if your ISP supports authentication and set up your SMTP server to login before sending by providing your email address and password.
