View Full Version : Moving to Power Vision: How Will it Affect My Bill?

I'm currently out of contract on an old Vision plan - the great $85 a month for two lines with unlimited Vision and 2000 anytime minutes.

It's my understanding that if we get new phones that are Power Vision capable, we'll need to lose our existing plan and select one of the currently available ones. If this is correct, any way I cut it, I'll be spending significantly more money per month for the same level of service (with higher data speed, of course).

Has anyone in a similar situation had any luck by running this through retention, or can anyone offer any suggestions?

I'm in a similiar situation. Would love to see a response from someone who has tried this!

I was on a $100, 2000minute shared plan with free "ReadyLink plus Vision" and "$5 unlim Text." They made me change it because I upgraded to a NON-ReadyLink phone and since it was included with the vision, they had to remove it. You may have a better chance at keeping your plan, they will try to make you change but stand your ground. I had a PV phone running on the above mentioned plan for 2 years (It had readylink).

1) I was on the old plan of 2000 min, unlimited texting, pcs vision, etc...just upgraded to a sanyo 8400 and my wife to a motorola rzr v3m

2) I had 2 upgrade both lines to power vision 4 $15 each line...family unlimited text plan for $20 so that makes the total 50 dollars more than i had, but i lowered my min...

So my advice is if you can avoid it go ahead or get the katana 1 or 2 which is still pcs vision and u will be able to keep ur features, otherwise you will be in the same predicament as i am

Your best bet is to go through Retentions to try and score a deal on moving over to Power Vision devices. If you've been a longstanding customer with good pay, you should be able to get a decent enough plan setup to make the move a little less painful on your wallet. You will still ultimately end up spending more than you are now, though, most likely. It might take a few tries as well.

You might also want to try SERO, if you'll be replacing all the phones on your account anyway.

The Katana DLX 8500 (i.e., Katana 2) is a Power Vision phone. The old one, which was a worthless piece of junk, is Vision... you don't want that phone.

I have same free and clear 2000 minutes and unlimtied vision/text messaging for 2 lines. I also added 5 other lines for $20 each all sharing same 2000 minutes. All 7 lines have vision/unlimted text messaging include in the plan. 5 of my phones are Power vision phones including A900/ HTC6800/700WX. I recently had phone change to HTC6800 from Moto Q and never once CS mentioned about swithing to Power vision plan. Not sure if a swithch to Ensemble software will force the issue for everybody but for now I have used PV phones with my old plan for more than a year without any problem.

The old one, which was a worthless piece of junk, is Vision... you don't want that phone. The Katana DLX is *not* the same phone as the Katana 2 (SCP-6650). The Katana 2, like its predecessor, is Vision-only, not PV, while the DLX *is* PV. Bit harsh to say it was a worthless piece of junk, unless you also say the RAZR was an utterly worthless piece of junk... :-)

I think the Katana 2 is a great, entry-level thin phone, even though it is a minor upgrade to the (worthless piece of junk) original Katana.

Bit harsh? It's just a phone for cryin' out loud!

...My bad, the Katana 2 and the Katana DLX are not the same. I stand corrected, my friends.

And yes, the Katana was a worthless piece of junk; the RAZR is just a piece of junk, no "worthless" in that one. Vision + QCP ringtones... plus crappy camera and some other stuff, that's a piece of junk in my opinion. I'm not saying you have to agree with me, of course, that would just be silly. You have my full permission to like the Katana :p

I had the same problem. We upgraded from a Sanyo pm8200. We have two phones on our contract. I use mine for everything and my husband barely uses his so the only phone we could get and keep the exact same plan was the Katana or some cheaper phone that didn't have a camera. So I couldn't get the one I wanted...unless I wanted to pay $50 more a month with only mine having Power Vision and less shared mintues. I like the look of the phone but thats about it. The sound is poor quality when downloading ringers. As for my husband he could care less..."its just a phone". Then two months later they came out with the Katana II...I should have waited. Anything is better than the one I had before. Good luck chosing what you want to do.
