They SHOULD be out of the top 25, sadly they won't. This is Top 5 biggest upsets I've seen / heard of, D-IIA team over a Top 5 D-IA team is unheard of and we'll probably never see this again.
My question is, will any Top 25 team EVER schedule App State again? :) ;)

I loved it and don't forget Michigan almost lost to Ball st. last year. lol I'm surprised Hart didn't makes excuses like last years Michigan/Ohio State game. I doubt Hart makes it i the NFL because he's always hurt.

There was no excuse... we just lost.
You can blame in on the defense, special teams, offense, coaching... but it is still a loss.
I still believe in my team, and I still stand by my previous prediction.... Michigan wins the Big 10. Win or lose its hard to gain insight on a team after its first game. And this will give the coaches/players all that much more reason to bring it on strong for the rest of the season. We'll really see next week against Oregon if we can bring it.
And as for dropping out of the top 25.... I just don't know. I could argue against it, but it doesn't feel right. The voters have a bad habit of not dropping a team far after a loss because it makes them look wrong for putting them so high in the first place. I guess after some thought I think we deserve to be voted out of the top 25. It will make it all that much better to get back into the top five after wins against Penn State, Wisconsin, and OSU!
A final note: All the congratulations in the world to App State! I believe Michigan should do its best to show grace and schedule a game at App State.

If Coach Carr wants his job next season it is his to have. Michigan won't fire him. I believe he will want to retire soon, but they won't force him out.

I guess Michigan could bounce back after getting beat by a D-IIA team but even if they do win the Big Ten it's not like there going to win there bowl game. :hee: It's a down year in the Big Ten so anything is possible. If Michigan gets beat by Ohio State or they don't win the Big Ten then I think Carr better start packing his bags.

NEW YORK -- Thud! The final fallout from a disastrous opening weekend for Michigan
came Tuesday, when the Wolverines dropped all the way out of The
Associated Press Top 25, an unprecedented fall from No. 5 to
unranked.Since the AP poll expanded to 25 teams in 1989, no team has
taken a bigger tumble in one week.

HeHe, they dropped to 27th. :ohcrap:
See now there is the funny thing... they dropped to 27th after losing to I-AA App State at home. But they still rank ahead of: Miami (Fla.), Brigham Young, Oregon, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas Tech, Oregon State, Alabama, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Florida State, Kentucky, Arizona State, Iowa, Wake Forest, Washington, and every other team that didn't even get 1 vote (taken from votes in the Coaches Poll).
Now I understand dropping them from the top 25 (I didn't think it would happen, but I do understand it) but if you are going to drop them why not completely drop them. Getting any points in the poll means that some Coaches believe they should still be in the top 25.
We'll just have to wait and see. How long before they get back in the top 25? Does a win over Oregon get them there? Notre Dame? Penn State??

I think you have to see how convincing a win over Oregon is. Right now a win over Notre Dame means nothing unless they pick it up. Penn State would make a statement.
You also have to look at the other teams mentioned. Miami plays number 5 OK this week and if they win that'll certainly vault them up into the Top 25 maybe taking Michigan's spot if they beat Oregon.

I can't speak for all Michigan fans but I'm still here. Just had to work...
I don't know what more I can say, except that it doesn't matter if they win or lose..... I'm still a HUGE Michigan fan and will root for them all day and all night.
Its sad because everyone was touting Ron English (Defense Coordinator) as a genius until OSU last year. It looks like he just ignored the entire spread offense. Look at all the games we lost or were close in since his appointment as DC (Ball State, OSU, USC, Appy State, Oregon) and you see either a spread offense, mobile quarterback or both. I still think we will get a better look at how Big Blue will do in the Big 10 when we see them play Notre Dame. They don't have a spread (although rumor is Mr Weis is practicing it now!) or a mobile quarterback. That is much like the majority of the Big 10.
Plus to add to the pain is Hene's injury. He won't play against Notre Dame so it looks like its in Mallet's hands. Luckily with Super Mario out there to catch it shouldn't be an embarrassing effort.

We barely beat a weak Michigan State but we still have our dignity in tact, not losing to a certain group of weenie Mountaineers, at Ann Arbor no less.
UM is doing a good job of picking up the pieces though, and I don't think the Buckeyes will be favored too much considering this year's game is at Michigan. Only thing worrying me is I know Hart will bring the most sound, unrelenting running game ever on Nov 17.
