How do I get notified when I receive incoming email? (DLX)

The email does not send+receive automatically on my DLX, it is only retreived when I click the check-for-new-mail link regardless of the checkbox being checked in the mail setttings to automatically check for mail. I set the phone to vibrate for new mail, but it only does this after I click the link, never on its own if the phone is idle. How do I get instant email notification on this thing?

In the email application, if you got to options, you can x a menu choice for auto delivery. Mine was x'ed already and wasn't delivering it. I un-x'd it, exited, went back to options and re-x'ed it, and it seems to be working now, although it is a little quirky.

How much time delay is there between receiving an email and getting notified?

see, I don't get it--I just got an email in gmail and it was never forwarded to the phone. Oh well.

I have just about given up on the email client for gmail on the 8500. I no longer get ANY gmail notifications and I have reset the email application like ten times. I'm thinking of abanding it all together and using a service like teleflip.

Does anybody else who uses gmail have this problem? What about users of yahoo, hotmail, etc.?
