Btw I had 2..no three 8400s and I never had that problem. My wife now has one of them (has had it since Dec.06) and till this day has not had an unwanted power cycle.

the first 8400 had this problem since the beginning and so has the second one. happens sometimes once a day. the guy at the store asked me to see which standard battery it happens with (i have two)
and he said he would request a replacement with the battery this time. it is happening with both batteries so i have to let him know. maybe i will request a DLX, but not sure. thanks much for the tip. much appreciated.

I thought that this was a pretty widespread problem with the 8400. Mine power cycles like that and has for quite a while. It initially started out only doing it occassionally when using the mediaplayer and viewing a video from sprint. Sometimes it does it if I'm viewing on demand...particularly if there are several weather bulletins...if I go through more than one...it'll crash. Later it started shutting off sometimes just when I close the phone so... Also now almost always it will crash if I don't close the phone slowly. So I always close the phone slowly and softly and that pretty much stops it. Sort of miss the sound of my sanyo snapping shut but I hate it when it crashes. The phone has always come back on after it shut off.
Couple this with the fact that my camera bites...bad color tone and green blur when sun's in picture. But I still like the phone. go figure.
If you do a search on the power cycling here I'm sure you'll find other threads about this problem.

The Rep At The Store Has The Same Problem You Have With The Phone crashing when closing it. probably a hinge connection problem. mine didnt have that problem. in fact no more problems since i purchased the DLX. 8400 Is A Great Phone Though. i just needed a change. can you say "What Is that hole in my pocket!"
