do you think it might be a smart idea if i bought a slingbox... attached it to the router at my moms house... log into my computer with my evdo rev a router and plug it in to my tv (new apartment) instead of buying cable tv?

If you don't mind the difference in quality, not having tv when your access is not working, having choppy tv if people are using most of the bandwidth on her end, and if she doesn't mind someone remotely changing her tv channels all day then sure why not! :p
