Hello there,

Well, I went and splurged $200+ on my M1 with a two-year upgrade...

The good: I like it, I like the screen size, I like the way it feels in my hand... I like the ability to have animated GIFs, huge media support (3gp, MPEG4, MP3, M4A, etc) backlog, large flash dedicated memory (obviously the selling point is the 1GB internal space), the ability to use themes (if you are so obliged), navigation button customization, ease of use when syncing to a computer, and last but certainly not least, Sprint Power Vision.

The Bad: I don't like the end/back keys being so close to each other... I find myself hitting the end key instead of back... Alot. The Sprint internally used web browser - It used to be awesome of my MM8300... I could close the window and it would remember where I was and would not have to reload starting from the home page, now I can no longer do that. I don't know if it was an option or not, I've only had a few days to play with this phone.

I can not seem to find a way to change the top right and the top left short cut button. I hate how the top right is automatically set to contacts (I have it set in my ways for that to be navigation pan right) and I wish I could make it "web".

The media player: What a pile of ****. I can turn it on with the front keys -- but I must flip open the phone and then close it after it is playing music? Who made that dumb programming choice? Is there ANY third-party java player that can be used with the phone flipped closed?

Can I set an animated GIF as a background? I see that the "sanyo" theme has an animated screen saver... How can I do such a thing without using a theme? Is it possible? I have several items that would look WAY better.

If I must use a theme, what extension is a "theme" and does anyone know how to make a theme pack? I am sure it's like setting it on a computer where associated ringers, icons and colors change accordingly... I would like to author one or two myself.

Video ringers: Is there ANY way at all to make them appear on the sub LCD when the phone is closed for an incoming call? Or when the call is coming in, can I full screen it while it's ringing? Does that sound possible?

Other than these few gripes - I love it!

You could always use Opera 4 for your browser. MUCH more efficient for browsing than the default, IMO.

As far as turning off the music player, if you want to close it from the outside, then just press the stop button, then the left button until it's closed. Kind of works like a "back" button, if you will.

Hope that helps.

just holding the stop button does the same thing

Thanks!

I found out what the issue was. When I was putting said music onto phone - I was putting it under the "music" area already pre-partitioned on my phone... When I just put it in the "media" folder - I can view it using the "file manager" which also allows me to listen to music with little or no service, control the playlist while the phone is closed, minimize the item and browse the web while doing so.

I am pretty psyched...

Also, I switched to Opera, it really is superior in every way.
