View Full Version : contract up:Retention offered deal good or not?

I've been with Sprint on a 3 line family plan for 6 years. I've been paying about $100 for a really bad plan apparently, even the retention rep said so. So anyway, Retention offered me the following for $90 before taxes on 3 lines:
1400 anytime minutes(roaming included)
Powervision on all 3 lines for $15(pic and vid mail included)
Unlimited text messaging on all 3 lines $20
Nights at 7
FIFM

Is this good for the price or should I be shooting for more? Nights at 6 would be nice, but anything else I am missing?

Also, what phones are considered good today? The rep offered me the Treo 755 for $150 ar but not sure. Now both my son and I need new phones and neither of us are power users. I'm looking for something with good reception and call clarity that does powervision. My son currently has a ancient brick phone and wants something nice. Any recommendations? I'm will to spend a little out of pocket after rebate on each phone, but really don't want to go to high.

i am unclear...is the offer $90 before taxes total or is it $90+3*15(power vision)+3*20(UL text)...or is it $90+15(power vision)+20(UL text)? i havent had my caffeine yet this morning

as far as phones go, the Katana DLX sounds like it might suit you well. It is a slim power vision phone by sanyo. Personally, i think sanyo's blow samsungs and LG's out of the water for reception and call clarity, but that is a subjective opinion, and i am others will disagree with me ;)

Yes the offer is $90 before taxes for the features listed.
So you are saying he offered 1400 minutes, roaming, LD, power vision and unlimited texts for a total of $90.00 for 3 lines Is this after a corporate discount or just plain old $90.00 plus tax. The reason I ask because I am attempting to redo my plan and need to see what is being offered.

After my corp discount. They would not give me the loyalty discount, but i'll get that from e-care eventually.

Actually I have a similar question... My contract has been up since 01/2007 and I gave *2 a call to find out what kind of deal they could give me through their "customer loyalty"/retention dept.

800 mins/Unlimited Txt/Power Pack Vision (all shared between 2 lines) for $94
Along with 2 Moguls, which they told me would be $250 each.

I feel this is a good deal, but I'm a n00b and don't know any better.

Thanks!

thats a pretty good deal. i would take it. then just email ecare and say a few of ur friends were offered loyalty discounts of 15% off for being with sprint a couple years. say something along the lines of "ive been with sprint over 5 years, havent i been loyal enough yet?"
as for phones i would look at an lg muziq. i was at the sprint store the other day and got to play with the muziq and dlx, i loved the muziq. the screen on the dlx was way to small, disapointing small to me. the muziq was nice and sleek looking, has a nice big screen, and the black looks great

Scored nights at 6 for free through e-care and dropped the unlimited text instead for 500 free txts on all 3 lines. New price $78.74.

I'm still a bit confused by what's included for the $78.74. Does that include the powervision? Or is that $78.74 plus $15 for powervision.
It's still pretty good either way and the free texts and included 6 PM N&W are very nice additions.
If that $78.74 is the final price for everything (not including taxes) then you managed to get yourself one of the better plans I've seen.
Good work.

That looks like a really solid deal to me. Did you have to push real hard to get free powervision?

What kind of phones are they offering?

No i had a very bad plan previously, the rep saw it and even commented how bad it was. He offered me most of that plan, only thing i had to ***** a little to get was the nights at 6 and the free 500 txt msgs vs unlimited text msgs for $20 on all 3 lines. We never text, i just wanted it just to have really. Only now to get is 15% loyalty.....

I got offered the treo 655p for $150 so took that and a free Razr for my son. My wife keeping her Sanyo 8300 for now.

It might be very difficult to get a loyalty discount applied to a plan that already has an NVP discount applied. From what I understand most everyone I've encountered on this forum that have both kinds of discounts had the loyalty discount in place first and then added the NVP later. I've seen more than a few posts by people saying CS shot them down when trying do it the other way around.
Take your shot though. You won't know if you don't ask.

you have to look at the gross amount. my sister's new plan is 1400, three lines, evdo plan on three (that is the unlimited evdo plus pic and video), 500 txt on each, fimf, 6pm, mtm for $87 before taxes. Always cycle you phones go for a very good price at this time and have them on the notes as well. her's were two 8830 crackberries (they travel to europe a lot) and and a treo 755 for their junior high schooler at $150, $150 and $140. Have them state the features and gross amount and note them on your retention notes. If there is any problem a retention supervisor can add extra codes.

their gross will be 87 plus tep insurance (mistake on cheap phones not a bad idea on very high end phones), plus taxes.

Were the prices for the phones after a mail in rebate. I am being offered something similar. But the phone prices are after a mail in rebate which I hate. I like the fact you got 6PM thrown in. I am being offered a similar price after my corporate discount. I need to work on them to give me FIMF also. Did you call a direct retention phone number, talk to a regular csr, or call customer service and say Cancel.

Sounds like a great deal to me. The free PV is what threw it over the edge, its almost like a SERO plan for 3 phones(minutes, PV, text, etc), plus the FIMF. I could go for a plan like that!

Best thing is they took the price off the phone instantly, no mail-in rebates! I just did the norm *2 then said business retentions. Its Sprint, so expect problems and call back a few times to verify things because there will probably be mistakes.

Just keep calling if you don't get what you want, eventually you will. My older sons girlfriend is on Sero and wanted to get the Razr for free to renew a 2 yr. She called 8 times and was told no each time, but was offered it for $50, then $99, then "free" but has to pay taxes and activation bringing it to $50. Well last night, she tried again, and wham got a rep who said sure and got it for free with NO mail in rebates.
