I noticed that there are a lot of people trying to find all these elaborate ways to get the new mogul. All I did was call in to tech support and ask if my 6700 was able to be upgraded to WM6 and after they told me no I asked if there were any upgrade options available to get a phone with the new software, after about an hour wait I was directed to an account manager who offered me a warranty replacement of the mogul with no charge because the 6700 was sold for the same price as the mogul.

Did you have them send you a return kit or did you have them note your account and do the exchange at the store?

I am really thinking about doing this. But the one thing that I am worried about is the whole return kit credit thing. I have read so many horror stories about this and I don't really want to have to deal with it all. Plus with the new 1.04 kitchen out a ppcgeeks my 6700 is running extremely well. decisions decisions.

I also was very weary of the return kit and made sure they knew it. I was told that if I did not receive the return kit within 5 days of receiving my phone that I need to call in and let them know and they will send out another one and notate it on my account so I don't incurr any charges due to their error.

After you sent the return kit back with your old phone in it, how long did they take to credit back your account?

They credited my account the full price of a mogul before they sent it, then after I sent back my phone my account went back to normal. I never had to wait for a credit.

I tried the approach of the guy who received a Mogul for $100, and it didn't work. Although, I must say, my account is only a few months old. Maybe some time down the road.

I was originally misinformaed that the 6700 would have an upgrade available to WM6. I told them about this and they apologized for one of their reps being wrong and I then told them that the upgrade possibility is what prompted me to buy the 6700 instead of wait for the 6800. Then they offered me the trade for no additional cost.

Did you guys call Retentions or just Customer care? I've heard stories of people exchanging their 6700 for a 6800 through E-care, but I was shot down when using E-Care. I'm going to be on my 5th 6700 within about 7 months and 4 of those 5 were due to manufacturer defects...
I don't go to the Sprint store to get it replaced, I go to a 3rd party dealer which just tells Sprint to send me another one and each time I get sent one, it's refurb and the last one I received had a broken joystick. The official Sprint store near us is filled with insanely rude salesmen and I haven't gone to that one in about a year now.

E-care just told me that I would be able to get $150 off the Mogul and I've been with Sprint for about 8 years now.

I actually went through tech support with my concerns about upgrading. They told me to talk to retention and I ever so politely asked the tech person to explain my situation to retention before transferring my call so that they knew I wasn't going to get on and threaten to leave just to get a new phone and that I was merely attempting to get WM6 for my device.

Good for you. Dealing with Sprint can be frustrating but it's been shown many times that being nice works with them...

Yeah it really does work to have them on your side. I had a crap A900 last year and tried the angry approach and all I got out of it was a lot of no's and another crap A900.
