View Full Version : How would you use retention for this...

Hi All,

I have been a sprintpcs customer for almost 10 years.
The first and only time I used retention was back in 2004 (I am out of contract for over a year now and have had my phones for almost 3 yrs).
I currently have a family plan (2 phones) with the following features:
* 2 phones, 300 txt on each phone for $5 per line.
* 1000 Anytime Minutes
* Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes
* Nights: M-Th 8PM-7AM Wknd: F 8PM-M 7AM

Monthly charge is about $80.00, after applying a 15% work discount.

I need to break my family plan into to individual accounts (yes, I have to). Since I need to do this and will have to (as far as I am told) get new 2-yr contracts for each acct, I thought I can get two new phones and try my luck at using retention again.

In case it matters, I am looking into getting 2 treo 755p phones (which would cost $200 each based on the sprint website and what retail store rep told me).

Given the above background, what would be the best way to capitalize on my long year history with sprint in attempting to get a sero, loyalty discounts, credits, etc?

When I called retention earlier, they pretty much only offered me the standard plans, and offered no discounts, or credits for anything. When I mentioned I would be interested in getting 2 treos, they told me it would cost $329. I mentioned the cost listed ion the web and they said it is not for me (as an existing customer). The retail store said the retention person was wrong, yet the retention contact was adamant it would cost me $329.

I am not trying to ask for the world here but, like anyone, would like to get a bit better deal.

I would like to have the two treos (fine with paying $200 each) and get around:
* 450 min $39.99 (would like more mins, though)
* 300 text $5
* Power Vision $15 (would like higher data plan if I can get discount)

Can anyone tell me what I can reasonably ask for / expect, and how to go about asking for it. Should I call retention? Should I use ecare? Combination? Does time of dasy calling in hurt/help? It seems I have bad luck with asking and I could use any advice any of you can offer.

Thanks in advance. Let me know if you have any further questiosn I can answer.

thanks
T

Hey sde780,

I asked about sero, but they said something like that is a special plan for sprint referals and it needs to be set up...basically I can't get it.

How do you get the SERO? I have read a little bit about it in these forums, but I can't find something that helps with my situation, or is currently still valid. Thoughts?

I would see if the $40/1000min plan is still available...then try to get 1 or 2 'minor' perks (500 free text, pcs2pcs, roaming, 7nw). As far as vision, i have been trying to get it cheaper than $15 per month with no avail....but i havent been trying too hard.

i got my plan the way it is (see sig) in 2004 with no threatening to cancel...maybe you could say last time you signed a contract you were offered the non-family plan $40/1000 but you wanted 2 phones, and were wondering if it was still available. If it isnt you (research other carriers) have noticed that att/verizon/cingular is offering x service and was wondering if sprint would be able to match it
