i just got this phone from ebay, and There Are A Few Things I Cant Figure Out About It. First, How Do You Make It Go To T9 Automatically When You Send A Text Message? Second, I Cant Seem To Make T9 All LowerCase,As You Can Probably Tell Already. Finally,How Was The Battery Life When You Had This Phone? mine dies after 2 hour s of web. Another Thing, I Cant See The List Of Possible WordS When Using T9.

I am not exactly sure how you make it automatically goto T9 word - as I HATE T9 word with an undying passion - any "expected text entry" drives me nuts.

Your battery life is probably good for about 2 hours of constant upload/download on the internet - it's not anything great... It also depends how heavy you're networking (images, etc)... I find that I can go a full day of text messaging, talking and light internet use without a recharge... But if I read forums on the internet (I suggest going to google.com and typing in the desired address, as it will automatically format it for the 8300... small screens make large pages hard to read... period.) or anything with an image, I can kiss my battery life away.

You'll also get "insufficient browser memory - please restart" alot.

Press the "asterisk" key to change the T9 word entry from "t9w" which is all lowercase, "T9w" which is the "first letter" capitalized option (which you seem to have on) or the "T9W" which is all letters capitalized.

I hope that helps.

I love the UI on the 8300 - it's why I love and want a new Sanyo.

i use opera mini 4 beta :tu: :headbang2 on mine, so no worries about the web browsing.

The asterisk does change it! but i can't get it lowercase t9, only ABC, abc, T9, and symbol.

I guess the battery isn't messed up or anything then, cause i was watching a movie on it for 1 1/2 hours, and it was only down to 1 bar. do you know if any of the popular stores (Radioshack, Wal-mart, etc.) sell extended batteries for this phone?

I don't think Radioshack sells Sanyo/Sprint anymore - not positive though... I find them on Ebay alot... Might be your best choice... You also may want to buy a Sanyo approved one... I have a non Sanyo approved battery at the moment because I lost mine (don't ask me how...) and it gets really, REALLY hot in the back... Way worse than the Sanyo approved source.

When you're writing a text message, make sure your mode (top right key) is on T9 word - at that point you can switch the characters... As for text entry on a forum or otherwise - I had the issue with AIM on my phone at one point, I don't remember how I fixed it... I think I pressed the asterisk and the 0 key (for a space) and it was okay... But you have to switch manually between "T9w" and "t9w". It's pretty lame.

I used Opera Mini for awhile - but I needed the space for Tetris Mania...

Tetris ALWAYS wins. Haha

whooaaa...weird, it always goes back to ABC mode when i start a text, i tried it again a moment ago and it automatically went to T9!

thanks for the advice, i'll get one off of ebay then.

ha tetris takes up that much space? my tetris takes up 17kb, i have enough left for Opera, Telenav (>500kb), Mobitv, 2 other racing games, and 4 ringers.

The game "Tetris Mania" takes 196 KB
I have four super high (I.E I made them myself) quality ringers all about 32 seconds in length... They register at:
293KB
236KB
188KB
186KB

No screen savers (just use photos)
Two applications:
eBay - 90KB
Mobile Bartender - 99KB

And one under "IM & Email"
Gmail - 121KB

The rest is in saved videos and pictures; I just recently got rid of Google Maps, but I'm sure I'll save some space for it again. I love that application.

I thin Ebay is your best bet - alot of people are ditching their 8300 for a newer M1, Katana DLX or otherwise...

ok cool does OEM mean that it's not Sanyo approved?

You'll want OEM - that means it is the Original Equipment Manufacturer and that battery was designed for that specific phone.

Yeah i upgraded from this phone...if u do a lot of multimedia stuff...ie web..video etc.... you can go about 2-3 hours if its non stop...or general use a whole day pretty good...and plug it in b4 u go to bed...ur battery sounds fine...

but..if ur a multimedia guy like i was with it...gotta get a spare...i have the 8400 and am probably gonna do that too!!!

the t9 thing is dumb...resets every time...oh well...

overall the only downside to that phone is its limited 2mb memory..otherwise i loved it...now with the 8400 i have a micro sd slot and 64mb of internal memory...so same great phone..memory more...prob solved...

but ull love that phone!! have fun
