Yes and no. Some users on the Intel platform macs are able to transfer files without a hitch, but PPC users on OS X Tiger atleast, are for the most part out of luck. It seems there are some permission issues with OS X (and for me ubuntu linux). OS X being based off unix, however, I bet that if you mount the device with root (Administrator for those familiar with Windows) permissions (i.e. in the Terminal) you might be able to transfer files. Since I don't know anything about how to type unix commands, I'll leave this open for someone more knowledgeable to fill in how to enter the mount commands in the terminal.

Check out http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119995&highlight=apple for a thread with some information regarding this issue. It's a mixed bucket really. With an Apple notebook, the simplest way I have found to transfer files is to simply use bluetooth. Pair the devices, then push the files from the notebook to the M1.

And to save others the trouble of chiming in, Make sure to do some searching on the forums via the search link on the red bar above the posts before adding a post. I'm not trying to be rude at all, it's just how forums work.

It's not really a permissions issue, it's an issue in that Sanyo didn't fully implement the USB Mass Storage protocol. What happens basically is this:

On a PC:
PC: Hey, phone! Are you writable?
Phone: Uh, I'm sorry, I'm not from your country.
PC: Well, let's hope you are! *throws files*

On a Mac:
Mac: Hey, phone! Are you writable?
Phone: Uh, I'm sorry, I'm not from your country.
PC: I guess you're not then.

You can't override this without recompiling the USB Mass Storage kext, unfortunately. Apple seems to refuse to admit this is an issue (it's been brought up on their forums many times) and instead say they are following the spec. This is true, they are following the spec, but that doesn't mean it's still an issue.

The solution is to use Bluetooth, or to run Windows in Parallels/VMWare.
