View Full Version : Rant about music and M1

Alright so I really like my M1, its a great phone IMO. Before I had an M1 I had a Fusic which was also a great phone and I loved listening to music on it but I hated how you couldn't multi task while listening to music so thats one of the main reasons I switched to the M1. So I get my M1 and immediately fall in love once I take it out of the box and so I loaded some MP3s and M4As and plugged in the headphones and turned the music all the way up and let me tell you, I was disappointed because turned all the way up the music sounded too thumpy and kinda had static and I tried different headphones and bitrates but I just gave up and haven't really used the music player since I got the phone which is really disappointing for me since thats another reason I got the phone and I had just came from the Fusic which had a great music player. My other rant is, if the music player on the M1 was useful to me and I used it a lot I'd still be a bit disappointed because when you minimize the music player you're limited on what you multi task on, I played with an UpStage at the Sprint store the other day and I thought I'd try out the music player and it launched the Music Store and to my surprise while listening to music in the Music Store I could minimize it (which you can't do on the M1) and launch applications which you can't do on the M1 and I wish I could use Opera Mini while listening to music. Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm definitely with you on the Opera Mini thing. I hate that I can only use the crappy built-in browser. I believe, however that it's either the phones lack of available memory or it's inability to play more than one java app at a time.

More people need to request sanyo's tech department to release an update and I think a lot of the things you don't like about the M1 now could be resolved. I never liked the music store player, never had one problem with the media player. Whatever you do, don't update to the media player Sprint is forcing people to upgrade to watch sprint tv. If you do that your media player is worth even less than it was before. Only problem I've had as long as I owned this phone is the fact that dust gets under the outer screen and the hinge scuffs after 8 monthes of owning it. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. :D

If you don't download the update you can't view media, Sprint's at least

It's not worth it to lose full screen and view media on the outside screen to watch some Sprint media, in my opinion. They really need to fix it before I ever thought about messing up my media player.

so you don't use Sprint TV at all, there's no other way to get to it without downloading it

Thanks Sprint, that was real nice of you :irked:

So you're saying I should call up Sanyo and complain? How well does that work in the cell phone world? It sounds stupid on my part, but I had never really thought about it. I just figured sprint was my sole contact. Now I think about it, it makes total sense. Is their a specific number to call?

i was told by a sprint rep (and i have the convo recorded too) that this sprint tv update is faulty :fingers: and to go to a sprint store to have them fix it. lets hope this is true so they can create an update to fix this problem. the rep continued to say there are more then one phone (razr2) that can view media on the sub lcd.
i love my m1

866-726-9692. You may need to speak to the technical support team so they can pass it along to the right people.

I just think it really sucks that I have this awesome phone that I love that is obviously meant to be a music phone but personally I don't feel it truly is. Has the M1 even had an update? I check often ever since I got my M1 and there has never been an update available. Is it possible for Sprint to release an update to enable applications to be ran while using the media player/

Sprint pulled the plug on the phone before it had a chance to really become a great phone. Could be because of the phones physical faults(ie:hinge scratching & dust under the screen) that they don't want anything to do with it anymore. Either way its best just to look forward tp the next great sanyo music phone.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'm just going to ask here. Whenever I get a call on my M1 and I'm not there to pick it up I don't realize someone has called me unless I flip open my phone. Whenever I get a text message I know because the light flashes but it doesn't do that when I get a call and the light also doesn't flash when I get a call and a text. Why is it like that? Can I fix it?

I just performed two tests with my M1 phone.
Test 1 - Call cell phone but do not leave VM
Result: No notification showing. You can activate the outer (small) screen to see that you have a missed call or flip open the phone to see the same notification.
Test 2 - Call cell phone and leave VM
Result: Phone blinks the light red on the front of the phone when it is closed and my phone provided a message sound for about 5 seconds. The light continues to blink red after the five seconds of the new message sound.
Once I activate the outer small screen to view the missed message notification, the red blinking light turns-off. Letting the phone go back to idle, the outer screen goes black in about 5 seconds and the red blinking light remains off.

I performed Test 1 again using a Sanyo 4900 and received the same result as the M1. The light does not blink and to clearly see the missed call you need to activate the main screen. The standby mode for the 4900 is a very dim mode (with or without missed calls; but no message/page).

Hmmm that makes a bit more sense now I mean no one ever leaves a voicemail. But in my opinion it should blink no matter what. Thanks nowires.
