I have decided that I am going to trade my Sanyo Katana DLX for a new Motorola RAZR2. Therefore, I will say goodbye to the Sanyo die hards here. I am trading it in because I prefer the overall look of the RAZR2 to the DLX and I would like and hope it has a better camera. 1 vs 2 meg. I was hoping the DLX would be the "new" M1 and it just isn't. Take care all. :headbang2

i posted that i may try the V9m. is it available already? I have a feeling we may be seeing you again. or i just might be seeing you over there. let us know how the motorola is. take care and good luck to you
:tu:
The DLX was a bit of a disappointment after the M1 but I don't think I could bring Myself to cop a new Moto considering all of the problems their Sprint handsets have had.
Let us know how it works out!
I too, am a Sanyo die hard. In March I just had to get a Treo 700wx.
My Son broke my 7400, which I had for almost 3 years, last week I got a 7050 wow!!! 7400 the next generation (without a camera).
So despite the Treo, I'm still a Sanyo die hard.........

I tried a Muziq and miss my DLX. Probably return Muziq and wait for the Moto V9. However considering the V9 only 3hrs talk time and 2 QVGA displays, battery life will probably suck. As far as good software and few bugs Sanyo is top dog. Should just g back to DLX because it's a great phone with a good battery.

I must admit, I LIKED the DLX. The battery life is/was great. I like the Muziq better. That's the one I chose to keep for my other line over the DLX. Everybody is starting to get on the Muziq, I really like it. Battery life sucks, but it recharges in like half an hour for me, so give and take I guess. DLX is a solid phone though.

Muziq is a cool phone but just like the build quality, keypad, and battery life battery better on DLX. Also the finger prints annoyed me with the Muziq.

All in all the DLX was/is a good phone, but the Muziq is really the pick better for "ME" between the two.

I will try the Razr2 or V9m as well. Looks pretty bling :tu:
The M1 is a great phone, I just don't see any other phone comparable in features really.
Great picture btw.

Wow, that M1 pic looks good man. Thanks for the comparison! :tu: I haven't had a chance to use my Muziqs camera yet, but I expected generic results. It's a phone not a camera anyway, oh well. I bet the Moto's camera is gonna look good. I just like the phone, I hate the first RAZR. You know this version of the RAZR looks like the Muziq if you ask me.

I was thinking the same thing, but I will say this...the M1s camera right now puts most if not all of Sprints camera phone pictures to shame. thats why I posted the Muziqs pic along side the M1s. The same difference wouldve happened with most if not all of the rest against the M1. and in turn is why I said the Muziqs pics are ok. (not really no worse than the rest of the bunch) ;)

the m1's cam is the main reason i haven't sold/traded it. yes it's just a camera on a phone and the m1 itself does have it's share of shortcomings, but I've taken numerous pics like NONAME's in a pinch. just knowing the muziq, upstage or even DLX aren't as good makes me never use their cameras.

1) The DLX IS NOT a replacement for the M1. This has been known all along. It is the SCP-8500, a replacement to the SCP-8400, thus making it an excellent upgrade from the 8400.
2) There WILL be a replacement for the M1 before year's end, and it will kick the Moto's A**.
3) The M1 is an AMAZING phone, and nothing beats the user functionality of a Sanyo. Moto's have the WORST user interfaces.

After thinking about it, does anyone get there cell phone pictures developed? I know when I send pictures to my friends and family they could care less if the picture are M1, DLX, or Muziq quality as long as it's a decent picture. Looking way back to the first camera phone years ago for Sprint was the Sanyo 5300. It took some really nice pictures for a VGA and the flash could light up a entire room. It sucks that in 2007 $300+ phone/pda's are still only coming out with 1.3 mp cameras. However I do have some 1.3 mp shots that I'm impressed with. You could put the best camera in a cell phone and a lot of people will buy it just for the that, but if I don't like how the phone functions or the keypad then I won't buy it.

I just don't believe Sanyo will have an M1 replacement by the end of the year. Qualcomm being the biggest reason why. I just don't see it happening. And yes, you were right about me being off base about assuming that the DLX would be the next "M1". I just said that because at this point, it will be their last higher end phone of the year. Time will tell if I am wrong. I hope I am. But I doubt it. I didn't intend to insult any M1 owner in anyway whatsoever.

Simply put, Sanyo phones are more dependable and reliable than Motorola phone.
The Motorola V9M is going to be the new pimp phone, however I promiss the Sanyo die-hard fans are going to have their DLX longer than those who get the V9M.
As an indirect dealer I get head aches of so many complaints on Moto products it drives my head to a wall :frustrate .
Whenever a customer inquires about a Moto product I try persuade from that direction cause its a nightmare. Its like putting a knife to my throat and walking in a concert hoping that no one bumps my arm.

All I can say is, a Sprint Store Mgr told me (about a week ago) the replacement to the Sanyo M1 will be out in Sept/Oct. Let's hope it's true !

Not that it really matters I'm just trying to make a point but I bet if you took the same pictures with some 1.3mp camera phones and asked your boss which pictures look the best he probably wouldn't pick the M1's pictures all the time. Most normal people would think there really isan't a big noticable difference between a 2.0mp and a 1.3mp camera phone.
Some nice snap shots I took with the DLX and 9000

Its like putting a knife to my throat and walking in a concert hoping that no one bumps my arm.I agree that Sanyo phones are more dependable and reliable as of now then Motorola phones but as far as build quality, durabiltiy and sound quality Motorola is better. For example I dropped my Q on the concrete a week ago when I was getting out of my car. Maybe I was lucky where it took most of the impact but I was impressed how well the phone held up and that the display didn't get scratched at all. Really you can't see the ding looking at it straight because if you could I probably would get a new one becasue I'm that picky. lol Now if you dropped the M1,DLX, Muziq on the concrete I think there would be a lot more damage.

Oh man, if you dropped a Muziq on the ground there's a good chance that you would never be able to look @ the phone again. Yeah, it would scratch really easy. I got the Body Glove case for mine. I may have spoke too soon about getting that Motorola anyway. I just read were Sprint's CDMA version only has a 65K internal screen (Sprint had is advertised @ 18bit but since it's been changed). That's a piss me off. The review @ CNET was less than "glowing" about it too. I might hold off on it now. I dunno what to do :frustrate

that is correct... i saw a video of how they test once, and they put the phone in front of speakers, and keep the call going, with another phone thats plugged in, til it cuts off via battery.. .thats over simplified but thats the jist..

I want to compare the V9's MP3 usability against the DLX -- for my father (with the side benefit of inherinting his DLX heh).
I think ever since his M1 (or maybe 1 or 2 Sanyos before that), he's fallen in love w/ the ability to listen to music, temporarily pass phone calls through, then resume listening with little hassle. He traded up to the DLX for more MP3 capacity (I just bought him a 4GB microsd hc to replace his 2GB) but he finds the music players lacking-- slow to load, no shuffle, pain to navigate. However I'm reading that the V9 tops out at 2GB -- I assume from no "hc" support, so this all might be moot.

Well, I got my Moto V9m and indeed I do like it better than the DLX. It doesn't skip and pause in songs like my DLX did and the bluetooth is light years better. I highly recommend if you just purchased your DLX, take a look @ the new MOTO V9m before your month slips by and see if you like it better. The inner screen is 252K and HUGE, and I have gotten a Kingston 4gb microsd to work in it. With that said, it's only money as the difference.
