i have been using sanyo phones for over 7 years. there is a saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it." i have had no experiences with other manufacturers. but i see that the motorola V9m is coming out. i was thinking to maybe give it a try. out of all the manufacturers that sprint uses, is it sanyo that works the best on the network. i read alot of people in this forum try multiple phones and was curious to what the general concensus is.

You'll be back! j/k I still have my trusty 9k and 6800. Best of both worlds since im not a lg or sammy fan.

I have experience with the Samsung A900M - I hated it and sold it for the cost that I bought it on...

There's just something about the Sanyo User Interface that I love and never want to leave... Unless of course I get a string of ****ty phones..

I have used some friend's Razr's -- They're not any good. I've head goof things from the V9 - I think I heard 6 HOUR Digital Talk Time... which is AMAZING.

I've owned an LG... The first color one, the LG5300. It was good, but it didn't hold up over time and it started to break about 10 months in for ownership.

I played around with a Musiq the other day -- I liked it, it's cheap, but I don't know if I can ever go back to LG...

I was in the same boat. I've had Sanyo phones for years and they just flat out work and are reliable. I have yet to have to replace a broken Sanyo phone. I just gave up my Sanyo VM-4500 which I've had for 3.5+ years, worked like a champ. Since I wasn't crazy about anything Sanyo currently had, I took a chance on the Palm 755p. While it's a decent device, it's just not a Sanyo in terms of features and quality. I think I just got used to certain things on the Sanyos and I find myself missing all those things on the Palm :( I'm still within my 30-day return period, so I'm going to give it a chance at least and see where it leaves me.

I would stay with Sanyo, my old samsung was really slow, and motorola's slow too. And by slow I mean when you press menu, it takes a while to load it. on sanyos, its instantaneous. pictures too, my old motorola took 30 secs to load a page of pics stored on the phone.

Stay with the Sanyo!!!!!!!!!!!

If you like the user interface and are big on that on the Sanyo...you will not be happy with what i consider to be a clunky motorola interface...its just cheap looking to me...don't like the interface of the existing razor at all.....

Sanyos on the otherhand...very nice i agree with what people have said here...there is just something about them.... and they are sooo customizable...the razor i played with...not so much!!!

And yes Sanyo reliability is great.... i first had a samsung with sprint when i first came over in 2002... then got sanyos ever since and love them..not one problem...always worked 100 percent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps

LOL I work for Motorola and I would never recommend a Motorola phone to anyone. (No, I don't work for the cell phone group.)

We had to sit through some training session a while back and they actually stressed to us: "In today's market, a product doesn't need to be full featured, but rather it just needs to be good enough". Basically meaning, time to market was more important then being full featured, etc. ugggh

I too have strayed from sanyo twice...over to samsung (a900 and upstage) and on both occasions i almost instantly regretted the decision (a900 one month, upstage 5 days)

No matter how many different phones I get/try, I always keep a sanyo or two near by (I am a non recovering Phone Whore) :hee: But yeah, I usually try out just about every mid/high end (non PDA) phone that Sprint releases but I always come back to a Sanyo. :tu:
BTW,come December it will be ONE YEAR that ive held on to my M1  and that by far is a record for me;)

This was Sprints second "COLOR" screen phone, with the 1rst being the 5000..yeah, I had one of those too.

Nice 5150 NONAME! never had it because i wasn't the phone junkie I am now then, and I got by fine with a LG 5250 in a age of Sanyo 5300's if you catch my drift. My first high end phone was the 5500 which I bought full price and never felt bad about it. That phone was simply awesome for the reasons I come to know as Sanyo. I've just loved every purchase, the phones are great!

After a week with LG and Samsung, the grass to me isnt greener. Nice phones, great designs and features, but not for me. I think I'll activate my M1 again here.

The first was the 4900 I believe.. a candy bar phone, which I bought about 4 days after sprint released it. I had the $44.95 plan for like 1400 min and originally had to pay for PCS Vision on a per 2MB basis, which was finally grandfathered to unlimited since it sucked so bad back then. I could rarely get connected and I tried DLing Pacman from Sprint's site which never DL'd. The download kept getting an error message. I had been using a "Denso Touchpoint 2100" if anyone even remembers that. That was back with the "Wireless Web" all wap interface.

Even then, Sanyo impressed me, that was the start of a beautiful ~8 year friendship. But now with qualcomm being stopped and sanyo talking of selling their mobile phone division, it may all be coming to an end!

My 1st one was one before the 4900 SCP 4500 candy bar style non colored screen and I guess it had wirless web which I never used. Then I saw the 4900 colored screen and was told about vision. That's when I got the 10 dollar unlimited plan and we used that short mail crap. I heard the 8100 was a great phone but I got the 8200 sucky 8300 good 8400 great and now the 8500 DLX which I love. Ever since I have been with Sprint it's been all Sanyo for me.. Rose

I could never leave Sanyo. The only other phone I have ever owned was the Nokia 5160 or whatever from Cellular One wayyyyyyy back.. I still have a 4900 in perfect shape no one uses anymore of course, my mother only used it for a short time. I just turned it on the other day and it is amazing how far we have come in cell phone technology in a short amount of time. Worst that can happen if you try something else and don't like it is just sell it and come back to Sanyo! :) Good luck to ya!

looks like everyone has convinced me. i will be sticking with sanyo for a while. my first sanyo was the 4500. one of the sanyos which i really liked was the magnesium SCP 6200? and the 6400. i am holding the SCP 6400 now. still a great looking phone! i then had the 5600? the 7400, 8400 and now the 8500. hey... come to think of it i have had nothing but sanyos and have been very happy. i guess i am sticking with sanyo! i have a regular sanyo collection and spare standard OEM batteries to most of them to boot!

yea i hear you with the old designs but i got the admit the DXL is a step into the right directionI think/hope so as well. The DLX is a classy looking phone, well at least the silver is. lol I usually don't keep the same phone more then 4 months but I've kept the Q for 8 months now. When I first got it I didn't think it was a keeper but after giving it a chance/learning hacks and 2 updates it's a great phone/smartphone regardless of all the negitive comments posted on this site. I wanted a change and a compact phone so I tried the DLX. The DLX is a great phone with a good battery but I decided to return the DLX to try the Muziq which it was ok but I like the DLX better. I'm now waiting to try the razr 2 but have a feeling I'll return it as well. I might try the 755p but I'm not going to pay full price for it. As much as I want to change phones for wanting something different I know I should just wait 4 1/2 months till Christmas.

lol nah i had the m1... it was ok... not as sleek as the katana.. or even the razr. Truthfully the 9000 was a much sexier phone than the M1.. what made me lose respect from the M1 was the cheap plastic. If they had that style with the stronger plastic that the 9000 had, it would have been nicer. Maybe even if the M1 was metallic like the Razr... not that I care for the razr all that much.. but there was just something missing from the M1. The DLX I replaced it with is much more sturdy feeling. The M1 had massive "phone creek"

I got the 8400 as a replacement for a bad Sammy 920 that would not PV. The rep gave me the choice of Fusic or the 8400. I chose the 8400 for it's screen & reception. In the store the 8400 showed all bars but the Fusic showed half.

I have not been disappointed by this phone. I used to be into Motorola but the Razor is overrated and those I know who bought them have something else now. I'm sold on Sanyo. The only thing that could woo me away would be a VGA smartphone, & that won't be anytime soon.

Back to the original question, should you stay with Sanyo or check out other manufacturers....

I have been to the other side of the fence and I keep coming back to my trusty 5600.

It's a personal choice for you. If you can afford to swing phones til you find something that hits your spot, do it! There's no hate towards a phone whoring ;)

just a little off track but there is info to be gained when people talk about the various phones they have had and compare them. it looks like i am keeping my replacement 8400 i just received until maybe the pro series comes out. i was going to try the DLX again but time is going by and i will probably wait. oh yeah...about the motorola, i will probably pass and get another sanyo. the 8400 is quite a good phone as have been my other sanyos.

The only thing that I liked about the M1 is the Camera. A few reasons I sold mine was because I didn't like the crammed keypad, showed wear/tear quick, bluetooth cutting in/out issues and the battery life wasn't as good as other Sanyo phones I've had. I really liked the Sanyo 9000 but it was a Huge for a flip phone.

i just switched back to my M1...missed it dearly. i dont use bt all that much and really need a media phone. imo the DLX isn't one truly. yes it has music store but it doesn't work that well and can't minimize and keep playing. mine is 6 months old, def. showing wear but i'll deal for now. i like having a black phone that doesn't feel like i'm holding a shingle.

SLOW!!!! I've been a Sanyo user and a Sprint customer since 1999. I strayed this year when I was eligible for an upgrade. Tried the Motorola KRZR K1m....big mistake. The 8400 Is A Great Phone Except For It Powering On And Off By Itself. I Have Had An 8400 For Almost One Year And Am In The Market For A Change. For Something New. It Will Be A Sanyo. I Am Just Waiting. The DLX Is Nice But The Reception Is An Issue As My Prior Thread Describes.
