Long time reader, first time poster

Sorry if this is asked all the time, I checked a bunch of threads and the FAQ and couldn't find the information I needed so I thought I'd asked so I could get a more specific answer.

I've been with sprint for 5 years, I'm currently on a $39.99 plan with the $5.00 text message plan added on. I get a discount of $5 a month that I got a long time ago for being a long term customer or something. I've never called retentions, only had my phone cut off twice and that was years ago. Pretty much here's the story

My mom is currently on cingular I believe and wants to switch her number over to sprint. I called sprint telling them I wasn't going to purchase a new line today but I wanted all the info I could get. Here's what they told me.

I would have to pay a $125 deposit refunded after a year
I would have to pay shipping and activation (although I'm pretty sure I can get this removed, I've heard people haven't had to pay it asking nicely)
I'm gonna give my mom my phone, which is a basic sanyo 3100 i believe, doesn't really do anything but call and send message and I want to get a M1, which I was told after the discounts and rebates I could get it would $99.

They told me the plans I could get would be

550 minutes for $59.99
700 for $69.99
1400 for 89.99

now I think I could get a better deal. Honestly paying 20 more dollars a month for 100 minutes sounds like a huge rip off for me. Plus I'm sure I'll want at least 700 minutes. Does anyone have and suggestions or better yet an idea of what kind of deals I could get for adding a line. Thanks!

yeah, try the SERO plan and see the SERO threads. Sounds like the best way to go for your mom
