1.008 Software Update for DLX

I took a risk and updated the software on my DLX. I had 1.002 and now have 1.008. It hung on 0% and I thought my phone was hozed but after 5 mins or so I noticed that the percent was increasing. It didnt say what it fixes and dont think it fixed the music multitasking issue.

this is the first update I've done in which it doesn't tell you what the update fixes.any one have any info?

i really think it only changes the startup animation. my email still sucks after a complete reset.

yeah......

my gmail just gives me a server error every time. it worked when i first got the phone. i've tried enabling and disabling POP in the gmail settings to no avail. my work POP3 works fine (after the reset, it wasn't downloading before). yes i've tried the ##emailrst# (maybe one too many times, IDK).

Just to let people know if you do the update make sure your battery is not low. It might not even let you do the update. I'm going to call Tier 2 and Sanyo to see what the update fixed unless someone posts it sooner.

I just tried the update again after I already had the new 1.008 software. I wanted to see if it would say no update available but it said there was a update available. I did the update and then I got 1.006 software. lol I tried the update again and got 1.008. I'll leave it alone. lol

It probably has nothing to do with the update but my web seems to be faster now.

Maybe update your data profile. I think all it changes is the power on off screen.

I might be the only one but I like the new power on/off animation. I would think the update changes more then that. Who knows maybe there just testing ota update. People always have to complain about something but I'm just happy how quick a update came out. Really I havent noticed any bugs.

Edit: Nerver mind earlier it said there wasn't an update available now it says there is. Cause I have had this phone 3 times already and it did it today where I see the outside background but when I open the phone the screen is black and no keys work and I have to take the battery off. Should I return the phone or do you think this update nay fix that? I think my 14 days are up. But now it is updating and says 20% done. My signal isn't the best in my house and wasn't on the 8400..

Hmm interesting, I went back to check to see if there was anymore updates and there was another available. I installed the second one and my version was only 1.006. I checked again and there was another update 1.008.

I was begining to think the update went from 1.002 > 1.004 > 1.006 > 1.008, however when I checked again there was another update, after the install the version went back to 1.006 so I checked for another updated and there was another so I installed that one and it updated it to 1.008.

I left it at 1.008.

I'm at version 1.002SP now and there is no firmware update available when I try it so I'm not sure if the update is available for everyone? I have updated my Vision profile a couple of times and get the same result every time I 'Update Phone'.

Jeez, can I say the word "update" anymore one sentence? lol :hee:

Anyway, does anyone have any idea why it's available for some and not others?

That is very strange. I would do a soft reset of the phone first, then try update, if that didn't work, I'd do a hard reset and try to update, and if that didn't work back to the store for a DLX swap.

I think they pulled it due to the constant recycling of the updates from 1.006-1.008 back an forth whenever you check for an update and then install

Now my phone shows no updates available. So think they just pulled it thats all until they fix whatever it was that was causing the problem.

It took me 2 or 3 attempts at updating my DLX before it recognized that there was an update.. Eventually it got it!

I had to exchange my DLX out and got a new one. Mine says no update available also. But mine said it had 1.002SP for software and PRL 60608. My old one said no update availabel one day and then that night I got it and I went from the 004 to the 006 I think it was. So why would this have the 002? And I didn't have the e-mail freeze problem on this one like I did on the other. Rose

I have to exchange my DLX tomorrow too. After I downloaded the update, my bluetooth failed to work properly (wouldn't recognize any devices). Then the phone got super duper hot and died. I called tech support and he said the only changes in the software was a new intro screen and a speed boost for the internet. Bummer.

Oh one of the updates was a speed boost for the internet didn't know that.. My internet doesn't work now regular net font does but Opera Mini or trying to get e-mail gives me some message about problem with network setup and I did the opera mini test and it said same thing. Mail don't work neither. But mine says no update and I think I have 1.002. Now I am afraid to try to update it after what happened to you. LOL!! Under phone version and software it says version 1.002SP but the PRL says 60608 so does that mean I am up to date? Do you go by the PRL is that the update people are getting? Or do I go by the software version? I don't remember. Rose

Try this one, cause I had the problem. Check your outbox. There may be something trying to send. I erased the message and had no problem afterwards. You should not have to do anything with POP in gmail. I hope that helps ya out.

I've been using software 1.002SP for 3 wks now with PRL 60608 and still see no update... been trying for a week now. No e-mail freeze after ##EMAILRST but it froze before I reset it.

I used the Samsung WEP-150 wireless headset I've had for almost 2 years now and it works seamlessly. However, when I hooked my Motorola H350 (almost a year old), people complained about crackling. I don't suggest a Motorola product with this phone...

I am using a Jawbone headset at this time. It seems to work just fine. I did have it freeze up once when I had an incoming call, but I wasn't using the headset at that time. I did download the update.

I am almost positive my bluetooth issues and phone dying after the update were a complete coincidence then. More people would be reporting it if the case were otherwise. I exchanged mine today and it already had 08 on it. It was new and totally wrapped in plastic or I'd say impossible. This phone has ZERO of the issues we reported with freezing email and such. My bluetooth stuff works perfectly again. Back in business.

Glad your back in buisness. What headset do you use? Yours came with 08 wow. I didn't even notice if he took mine out of the plastic or not. Plus on my old one I had the outside plastic off but left the inside plastic on cause of makeup and not wanting to scratch the screen LOL!! This one had no outside plastic unless he took it off I wasn't paying attention. I am funny about taking the inside plastic off. But I think your like me we just had messed up phones. My e-mail was fine on this phone no reset being needed. Rose

I can't remember what phone I had but I had the same issue no getting the update when everyone else was. Call teir 2 support and let them know about it. I would update the vision profile then power cycle the phone then cross your fingers and try the update again.

My old LG Fusic refused to update itself, so did a Samsung a900 I had. It was really annoying. Both times took them to Sprint. Both times Sprint techs performed voodoo rituals or whatever it is they do back there on 'em, Left with a new phone each time too.

Well now, you just answered a question most of us wanted to know. So not only does the updated give a new logo boot look but it also fixed the freezing issue with the email client.

However the email freezing with the client was already resolved by pressing ##EMAILRST# on the phone that resets the client and resolved the freexing issue. The freezing affected ALL DLXs to my knowledge that has .002 firmware.

I was planning on going to visit Sprint and hoped to get an update, but that probably won't happen now. But then again, it IS Sprint. So it could just be that one person who doesn't know what you're talking about. It's not really hard to be smarter than the techies at the store now, is it?! Well, I went to the sprint service place (the regular store doesn't do service anymore?) and said that "I heard there's a new firmware for my phone, but it doesn't find it when i try the 'update phone' option". They guy said "mmmmkay... it'll be like 20 minutes" - 20 minutes later, he's like "yup, all done." - with the same firmware on it <.<

I'm not so sure you want that update. I got it, it installed correctly and then my DLX got really hot and shut off, never to turn on again. Didn't happen to anyone else I know of though so I suppose it's just bad luck. :frustrate

Okay, so I got my DLX last week, A Silver one. Came with 06 firmware version, updated to 08 fine, however, My wife got hers today (a pink one), and it has 02 on it. When I attempt to do an update, it says NO FIRMWARE UPDATES AVAILABLE. Any tricks to getting an 02 firmware to update?

I don't know my old pink one had 106 and it took a couple tries and it went to 08 and then I had to return it for a new one and it has 102 which I thought was weird. It kept saying no update. But my old one the e-mail froze in the very beginning and I had other problems so I am kind of scared to update if everything is working fine right now. Rose

What this means is that the pink DLX phone was from their first shipment that has been sitting in the back from since then that never got sold.

You will have to wait till they release another update. Like I said sometime back there was something wrong with the OTA update. Even after you updated to .008 it would still say update available. If you updated again it was would downgrade you to .002. Now they pulled the update all together so your just going to have to wait.

Checked for update again but this time, I get :

Software update failed. Please try again later .

Took the battery out of my phone, held down the power button for like 5 secs, turned the phone on, updated my profile, checked internet connectivity, check for updates again and it now says "No firmware updates were found" which is now normal.

The email reset command was released prior to the SW/FW update fr the DLX. In other words I did the email reset prior to updating the phone.

I now have SW version 1.008. However when the update became available it did not update straight to .008. It was done progressively. The first update took me to .006 then i tried again it took me to .008. Then I tried again and it took me back to .002 :mad: . I did it two more times till it brought the SW/FW to .008 and thats were I left it and did not bother to keep checking again.

I updated with absolutely no problems at all. My bluetooth works fine, functionality of the phone is fine, and yes web browsing is much faster and smoother.

I read that some have taken the phone to Sprint stores and were able to get it flashed to 1.008SP. It's frustrating when I call Sprint stores and they don't know what I'm talking about. I ended up going to three different Sprint repair centers and was told each time that they cannot update firmware anymore.

Does anyone know the difference and what was updated between .002 and .006 and .008?

I know this is an old thread but I lost my phoneand had to use insurance on a new one. I was reading back old post and came across this one. How come it used to let you update your software OTA is it called? And now Sprint says it can only be done at the store. Cause I went to the store and my PRL got updated but not my software. I have the 1002 and didn't have the e-mail freezing. But my sleep mode won't go to standby animation my screens go black the outer doesn't dim it just goes black. Last night I was going through my ringers playing them to someone and it kind of froze and it wouldn't let me click on another ringer and if it did finally open nothing played so I powered off and on and was ok. But as I was reading an old post of mine it said my 1st phone had 1004 and updated to 1006 and that is the one I had problems with. Then I wrote how they gave me a new phone with 1002 but you no I never had a problem with that one ever and never updated it.

So now I am like do I update will that fix my screens from going black? I would hate to be updated and them have more problems than I am now. But wonder why you could update before from phone and now you can't? Rose
