View Full Version : getting the best deal (to stay w Spint or not)?

I'm a 5 year Sprint customer on a family plan. My phone is starting to die and I have just under 2 months until my 2 year/$150 credit is available. I've researched phones and plans and I need to decide whether to stick with Sprint. I've decided that I'm only going to stay if they work with me on this issue (my dying phone). I've called the local store and customer service (Sales), neither of which would assist me, although the Sales lady who I could barely understand offered me some "Nextel phone" for $99. I'm not a power user and I don't need a free Blackberry, but something like the M300 would suffice. My issue is that I don't want to pay to get my current phone fixed when I can get a new one in two months, and I don't see why Sprint won't move my date up 56 days. I'm actually annoyed enough that I'm planning to switch carriers if I cannot get Sprint to budge, but then I have to wait until 12/6 with a semi-dead phone (for my contract to expire).

So here's the question: How can I convince Sprint to deal? I'm not canceling today, so I cannot say that to them, but I'm deciding whether or not to cancel today, if that makes sense. I don't want to be in a situation (like I've heard about) when I call to REALLY cancel and retention offers me some insane deal, I want the insane deal today or I walk away in December.

Any thoughts?

call retentions. they should work with you. if not try ecare. getting the $150 off 2 months early should be pretty easy to do. also ask about the 15% loyalty discount, should be able to get that

Excuse my ignorance, but is there an FAQ here that explains how to contact each (and what ecare is)?

Yeah in the FAQ section the first Sticky has all of the phone numbers to contact Sprint. In that thread there are direct numbers to reach a retentions rep.

eCare is an email form of customer service. You can reach them by emailing ecare@cc.sprintpcs.com or by logging into your account online and clicking contact us and email us.

ecare email was listed by pinta. as for retentions, its the pepole you talk to when you want to cancel. they try to offer things to keep you from leaving. just call *2 from your sprint phone and go to cancel your line

UPDATE:

1) Called retention, "no problem", bumped my eligibility date to 8/1.

2) Got a "get a $100 credit" in the mail from Sprint. Called them too (different number). Got the $100 credit.

Thanks!
