I was going to port my moms sprint number to an at&t pay as you go phone so she could sign up for a new account and port it back to sprint.
i called my mom, and she just happens to be at the mall, so i told her to go to radio shack and see if they have the phones. she called me back and said she talked to the guy who worked there and he said that if she were to port her number to the pay as you go phone, she couldnt re-port it back to sprint for 60-90 days.
is that a bunch of crap? or is it correct?

I just did it this weekend. I had to wait 2 days for my phone number to dissappear from Sprint system. As soon as it was out of it, I ported back my number.
When I talked to the RadioShack rep, he actually said that I could port back my number as soon as the number is fully transfer to GoPhone (3h in my case). I just waited more, just to be safe.

is this the order i need to do this in
1. go get the gophone
2. port her number to it (which cancels her sprint account)
3. wait a coulple days to go sign up for sprint again and just port the number back while im signing back up to sprint.
or can we go ahead and order the new sprint line with a new number so she can get her phone quicker. and then call a sprint rep and have them port it back and change the new number to the old number.

I would get the new line first then follow the remaining steps.

yeah get the new line FIRST. it doesn't really matter the days you wait. ATT will have the number for you on the go phone in like 5-10 minutes. I waited about 15 hours before i switched the number back to sprint because i was doing it for a friend and they needed a phone during the day and it took about 10 min for the number to go back to sprint.

I order the new Sprint line before hand. When I had my new Sprint phone in hands (with a new phone number), I went ahead to RadioShack.
Btw, Att/cingular store was not willing to help much when I told them I wanted a GoPhone. I guess they do not get any commission on it. RadioShack was top :tu:

ordered her new sero line last night with a 755p.
as soon as she gets the phone and the new line is working fine, we are going to get the gophone.
will post up my results. i'm sure it will be fine since it seems to have worked for many people.

Question when u ported your moms number did they charge you an ETF fee?

If he was still in contract, then yes. He was charged and ETF. As soon as your number is ported, your service provider (Sprint in this case.) considers that you closed the account, and they charge you and ETF.
If they were out of contract, they just get bummed you left, and can't do a damn thing!

no ETF if out of contract, ETF if you are still under contract, even one day.

Has anyone gotten this to work with anything but a GO! phone? Tracphone, Net10, etc? Does it matter? Any exeriences using this method would be helpful.

You can use the same method on a Virgin Mobile phone.

Those eBay resellers only sell for new activations, so when I'm ready for an upgrade, I cant go thru them and get those prices. But if i wait until my contract is up, port my # to a prepaid phone, wait a few days, then call one of those resellers and tell them i want to port a # and add it to my account, do you guys think that'll work?

My sister did that a couple of months ago. She had a pre-paid phone and ported her sprint number onto it. then waited for about 3 days and ported the number onto her new sprint account with sero plan. It worked perfectly for her.
