View Full Version : upgrade criteria: $35/mo ? What if you're on a SERO plan?

I understand that part of the current new equipment upgrade criteria is that the monthly plan needs to be $34.99/mo or greater. A friend is on the $30/mo SERO plan and has a $5/mo plan option for 7pm nights. Does that count ? Thanks.

no it doesn't count. the $35 must be part of the base price. It does not include any add-ons

So then if a customer has a Sero plan, they are forced to pay full retail to get a new phone?

Thats the way I would understand it. $30 is not $35 so I would expect to pay full price for my new phone. Never had one long enough to get a discount anyway. So no big deal.

Now if you were on one of the more expensive sero plans I guess you could get a discount.

Keep in mind, SERO saves you a ton more than $75 a year. Maybe retentions will give them a discount to have them sign a new 2 year agreement. Even if they don't, they are still saving a ton of money.

My understanding is that SERO accounts are exempt from many of the rules that would exclude them from standard offers. I did find this relating to SERO:

Upgrade Frequency: Standard consumer New For You Upgrade Policy

If you're on a SERO plan thats more than $39, then you get the same upgrade options as a regular Sprint account.

Whatever. I have 5 coworkers on SERO. 3 of them just upgraded their phone. 2 with 75 rebate, one with 150 rebate.

No problems.

As usually, it depends on the rep you get when you call.

Or the rep in the store.

I have the 30 dollar sero plan. I contacted ecare and they gave me the 150 credit for a new phone. But remember the sero plan has expired so you wont get that anyway. Go to the sero site it says this promotion has expired. So if you do upgrade you might not get that plan. Its a gamble. I was told by a ecare rep that they code no longer works so be careful.

The SERO plan has not expired. The email address you were using is just no good anymore. I just logged in and the site is still taking orders.

I'm on the $30.00 SERO plan, upgraded from the Fusic to the Mogul (1 year and 1 day later) and got the $75 1-year credit + $75 off for loyalty (been with Sprint since 2002) through ecare. I had to send ecare a friendly e-mail reminder to get the second $75 to show on my account, since Telesales could only apply the $75 upgrade credit on their end according to that rep, but they're both showing now. :headbang2

I think if you call towards the end of the month, you'll get a better deal since they'll be desperate to reach their goals ;)

I'm working my way towards a premium membership, I should be there in about a month.

Getting back on topic, does anybody know if SERO is offically exempt from the 34.99 upgrade requirement. Certainly some people on this forum have had SERO long enough to know.

all you realy have to do is take a look at the upgrade eligibility. if your not able to get a rebate it would say so, or you would think it would. and im temporarily screwed on my p membership till it gets fixed :td:

It's nice to see others donating their Su$.

I got the premium on my own....tough tough tough.

Okay, this thread has gone off topic....

I guess the whole upgrade thing is typical Sprint hit or miss.

I did too on the premium, every single one. :headbang2

I asked Sprint for a number of things over the years, the worst they can say is no, most of the time they say yes! :D :tu:

Hopefully they fix their new billing system to still allow stuff. I know I read somewhere that they were having to add code as they go.

I guess I'll have to see if I can get a rebate with SERO after two years. For the past 6 or so years I have been on the same $30 Free & Clear plan and I was never able to get rebates. For some reason, they gave me a completely free phone this time when I asked for a rebate. I have asked for rebates in the past and been shot down.

I would assume that the $35/month is a minimum regardless of what plan you are on (and that is what I have been told as well), but it also depends on who you talk to when you decide to upgrade and how nice you are about it.

what do you have to do to be a premium member, and what exactly is it?

ghettocowboy248

on the top click premium and u can see what you get over a normal member. u can buy it or save up 1995su$ and pay with that.
